 I just started reloading 9mm, after a 2 year hiatus, and cannot find my notebook anywhere. I have always used Ramshot ZIP as my powder and went to their website and printed out the load data. I use a Lee Turret Press and usually start out dipping the powder into cases in a loading tray using the supplied Lee dipper (.5cc) The question/problem I am having is the load data and the dipper grain weight are coming up vastly different. The Ramshot data for ZIP shows a starting grain weight of 3.2  (lead round nose 124gr)  and a max of 3.7   while the Lee .5cc dipper weighs out at 6.1 according to the slide scale....actual dipping from the container I use is between 5.6 and 5.9 consistently. The powder fills the casing to where the bullet sits after final seating/crimp so there is no excess space. I am not sure how to proceed from this point. I cannot remember my receipe, I have shot several hundred rounds of 9mm with ZIP and 124gr but do not remember the grain weight used and cannot find my notes anywhere. What would be the best move to procede? Contact Ramshot? Contact Lee?  Once I use up the ZIP I will be looking for a more available powder. Thanks for any help and input.

You are not a dupe....you are Army.....you sound alot like my old man, E6 and damn proud of it. No hand out but a hand up to those that are genuine and repentant. "You made your bed now lay in it, then fix it up behind you....your mess, your consequences......"  I remember him helping alot of his soldiers....but those that lied or shafted him....a two war SFC can really f*&k your life over when you get on his bad side. Spent today in the man cave sorting and organizing. I try to keep to one powder, one receipe per caliber but my choice of powder (Ramshot) is very difficult to find....having to find alternates.  IMR 3031 instead of TAC, Bullseye instead of ZIP....gets frustrating....but keeps me honest at the press. I have found a bunch of odd brass I have no use for...once I get the numbers up I'll be putting them in the Classifieds......

For me the weight is a non-issue....I like the feel of steel...seems I have traded off most of my polymer pistols for steel frames....they just feel like a sidearm is supposed to........

I have had to school my wife in that as well..."If you are going to pull your gun, then shoot....when you shoot, shoot to kill (the bad guy) or more aptly shoot to live (yourself)." We have her scheduled for the carry class in Nov. She should be way ahead of the curve.

I just picked up a Smithy 4506 .45ACP in a trade.  This is a tank, from the heft and the handling but it fits my hand fine....plus it's a .45 American steel! :usa: Anyone familiar with them? Are there things to look out for? I love the decocker feature and adjustable sights...can't wait to shoot it. I will post picks after coffee and biscuits...gotta recharge my battery too.......

The Scripture I posted was never meant to insult those that cannot work.....it is meant to slap those that will not work. I grew up in a military family where everyone pulled their own weight and slacking off was not allowed. Illness and injury are not slacking off....laziness and sloth are....as they are acts of will.

  The government is acting like they own us, like they are the Parent, nanny state and all. It is not looked upon with favor to be INDEPENDENT of FedGov. I am reminded of the line in V for Vendetta...."We need to remind them why THEY need US!"........My rights come from God. My family is my responsibility. The government is the servant not me or mine. We need to remind them of that.

All I have to say is.....2 Thessalonians 3:10....wish we would adopt that.

Hey Spots, when you get a handle on a style and you start hammerin out tunes....will they have an edge on 'em?  :rofl:  :rofl:  The style I used to play was called "claw hammer" but time, age and accidents took pickin out of my hands. I bought the Henry blued .22 for my wife....she loves it...very smooth, light, reliable (when you can find ammo) and affordable. She wanted the Golden Boy until she saw the price and I see no difference except for the cosmetics.....can't go wrong with a Henry no matter what model you choose.....jmho.. :2cents:
