  1. Everything but the barrel should be here tomorrow and the barrel should arrive on Thursday. I'm getting excited now.
  2. Well after reading all of these replies and doing a little more research I went ahead and ordered a 20" 1 in 12" twist Green Mountain Rifle Barrel. Also went ahead and ordered everything else I needed for the build
  3. Just thought I'd let all of the northeast tn members know that Magnum Materials inc. Is at the gun show at the Appalachian fair grounds this weekend. Go out and show them some support!
  4. Thanks, that was what I was thinking but I didn't know for sure. I'd like to get something that will do up to 62 grainers as that is what I generally shoot but I'd like to be able to some of the lighter rounds for groundhog control.
  5. I've decided that I "need" another ar-15 but this time I'm thinking about going with a 20" barrel. While barrel shopping I have found some 20" 5.56mm barrels with twist rates of: 1 in 7", 1 in 8", 1 in 9", and 1 in 12". My main question is: What twist rate is typically best for which weight bullets? Primary purpose of said rifle will be range toy with a backup role of varmint slayer. This will be assembled on my CMT/TGO upper.
  6. The 1 pound bottles of CFE 223 were $32 or $34 but the 8 pound jug was $175 With no tax it ended up being $21.88 per pound. The Bullseye was priced at $190 per 8 pound jug but I beat them down to $175 since I was buying both. What I bought was the last one of each of the 8lb jugs.
  7. Found some powder yesterday at the Jericho Shrine Temple in Kingsport.
  8. A few more 10mm underwood ammo test videos:10mm Ammo Tests: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL04F5D87436EEDCA8 (Dude in the videos is also from tennessee.)
  9. I did some filing on mine because the feed lips were leaving some pretty nasty gouges in my shiny new brass.
  10. I'd say that's right just a little tweak to the lips and you will be set.
  11. I'm going to have a few done by a girl in Kingsport. She just got certified to start applying Cerakote and started hydrodipping so I'm going to let her practice on a couple of my cheaper rifles. Then if it's up to my standards I'll get her to do a couple of handguns.
  12. Check out some of the Cerakote pics here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/81837-firearms-photo-gallery/?view=getnewpost Sounds like a great candidate for this.
  13. I may have spoken too soon. I do like the looks of it but this one may make me try Ford again. SVT Bronco
  14. Only thing wrong with it is that blue oval on the front of it.
  15. That's good news! Im building a carbine and I stocked up on a lot of H110 for my 44 magnum loads a while back!
  16. Only ammo to arrive as of today With some 5.56 for comparison.
  17. I'll add it will not be suppressed and will serve as a range toy and as hunting rifle for suitable game.
  18. About to do a 16" 1 in 14" twist 458 socom build. Just curious if anyone here is reloading for it and what powders/bullets you like the best. I've been reading a lot over on www.458socomforums.com just thought I'd ask here because I always seem to get good info here. I have already ordered a couple hundred pieces of starline brass and a Redding 458 SOCOM full length reloading die set. Also ordered 100 rounds of various weight factory ammo for baseline and function testing from http://www.sbrammunition.com
  19. Did the same thing with a Samsung Galaxy s4 the day I got the phone.
  20. I know it was way too cold this afternoon to be working on a broken water line (while live) in Johnson City.
  21. You learn pretty quickly with those grips that nothing else goes in your gun pocket.
