You might be pleasantly surprised with the blade on the CRKT SPEW, I thought that it was ugly and weird at first but after carrying it for a week or so I liked it so much that I bought a second one. Pretty easy to sharpen with the blade shaped like too. The point is extremely "pointy" like a needle, great for splinter removal.

It seemed pretty cool to me, I'll tune in again next week!

Good looking rifle, I have one of the 10FCP-SR's with a Vortex Viper pst 6-24x50mm on it and I love it. Hard to go wrong with a Savage.

My next purchase too! Great choice! Neat video/review: https://youtu.be/S4zeiEwVePU

I love the FO sights and the porting does help "a little" not sure on who did it, it had already been done before I bought it. However I have shot it and an unported m92 side by side and it does help some.

Definitely not taken that way,I completely understand! I know that the Marlins are much better quality firearms. Just was saying that the Rossi I got is plenty accurate enough for a deer rifle and cheap enough that I don't worry about it riding behind the truck seat or beating around on the way in and out of the woods.
-
The Rossi m92s aren't bad, at least the one I have isn't. I bought it from a guy at a local chemical plant that was hard up for some cash, got it for $300. It isn't in excellent shape but it is more than good enough to ride behind the seat of my truck.

Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
z0mbies fear me replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
Kinda slow getting started which is understandable for character building I guess. The wife said that I'm gross because I thought the female zombie in the church was sorta hot ;) -
That sucks and I'm sorry to hear that, but it can be done. I practice shooting with my middle fingers on either hand every couple of range trips (started that after severely cutting my trigger finger with a box cutter a few years ago) . Just a couple of mags each but it's really not that bad. Rifles/shotguns were the easiest transition for me. Pistols are a little trickier because you have to be aware of the slide movement. The only thing I have much of a problem with is my Taurus model 444 (ultralight 4" unpredictable barrel raging bull/tracker frame 44 magnum) at just 28 Oz it's a bit of a beast with only your ring and pinky fingers wrapped around the grip. It will take a little bit of practice but you candefinitely do it. Good luck.

Making power factor for IDPA.

Not trying to hijack the thread but can someone enlighten me on how to figure power factor? I assume I need to know my bullet weight and velocity but not sure where it goes from there. -
Sullivan County Tn: http://www.timesnews.net/article/9089735/shootings-in-chattanooga-spur-sullivan-debate-on-guns-in-courthouse BLOUNTVILLE — At a work session Thursday evening, some Sullivan County commissioners cited shootings at two military recruitment offices in Chattanooga earlier in the day to question a ban on firearms in the historic Sullivan County Courthouse. Commissioner Baxter Hood raised the issue first. Hood said the doors to the recruitment centers where the shootings occurred displayed signs prohibiting guns inside. Hood said it is a similar situation to signs on the courthouse doors. Those signs are warnings that all weapons, including guns, are prohibited from the building, which houses several county government offices frequented by the public. The building also is home to regular meetings of the Sullivan County Commission and its various committees. Hood said the signs signal “there is no protection here for you.” Commissioner Sherry Grubb said she — as a licensed handgun owner — wanted to commend Hood for bringing the issue up. “We all know there is not a criminal that comes through that door that reads that,” Grubb said. Grubb said the safety of those who work in the courthouse “is in jeopardy” because county commissioners will not allow them to have their guns. After the meeting adjourned, Commissioner John Crawford could be heard telling Grubb he supported her 100 percent. Grubb said the signs on the courthouse doors should say no illegal weapons. In August 2013, most then-Sullivan County commissioners indicated in a resounding vote that they did not want “no weapons permitted” signs removed from the doors of the courthouse. The commission voted 22-1 that month to “table” consideration of a resolution some said seemed aimed at getting those signs removed. Hood was lead sponsor of that resolution, which originated with the question of who had authority over the building for maintenance and cleaning matters. Early in the resolution’s consideration, Hood said a “yes” vote would mean “take those signs off the door” and also “this is no longer a courthouse.” However, when asked on the morning of the vote if the intent of the resolution was to allow people to bring guns to the courthouse, Hood said “no.” Hood was then asked what, then, was the purpose of the resolution. Hood first said he was not the person to answer that question. The commissioner asking pointed out Hood was the resolution’s sponsor. Hood then said the resolution was meant to address two concerns: maintenance and cleanup of the building, and the signs banning weapons. “I am certainly a supporter of Second Amendment rights,” Hood said. “I am for guns.” Hood said he doesn’t think any citizen should be denied entry to the building because they have a gun. Really? A politician with some sense :)

If you are going to be shooting primarily 55gr and 62gr I'd go with a 1 in 9" if you plan on primarily shooting heavier/longer bullets 77gr, tracers, or lead free(long) the 1 in 7" would probably serve you better. Found this video after posting my answer, I believe it explains the differences pretty well, and it's just 3 and a half minutes long. Tech Tip: AR-15 Twist Rates: https://youtu.be/oiXn-1jirWs

The slower twists typically do better with lighter bullets at least in a 223. I have one with a 1in 12" twist that shoots the light stuff great (40gr and 50gr) but sucks with anything over the 55 grainers. I also ordered some 30gr and 35gr to try out in it.

Finally getting around to working up some loads for my 20" ar. I built this one with the light rounds in mind. (20" 1 in 12" twist barrel) Last night I loaded up some ladder loads using Hornady 40 grain VMAX bullets and some CFE-223 powder. Started out at 27.5 grains of powder and went up in .2 grain increments. Now this wasn't exactly precise, I was using my Hornady powder measure/scale that has an error margin of +-.1gr. Made it to the range this morning and set up my Chrony at 10' from the muzzle as per the instructions. I fired 10 rounds of each load across the chrono, two rounds at a steel plate at 200 yards and then a 8 shot group at 50 yards. Each group was fired while sitting with a rest under the front of the rifle and the stock against my shoulder. No optics on the rifle just yet so just used magpul flip-ups. Anyway, my best group came from a load using 28.1gr. My average velocity with said load was 3160.07 fps (10 feet from muzzle) with an extreme spread of 203.71fps. I figure that is probably due to the +-.1gr of the powder measure. Next I'll load up some at 28.0gr, 28.1gr and, 28.2gr using my balance beam scale to fine tune the load. The 8 shot group measured 0.750 center to center. I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of this rifle and load combination.
