  1. Back home with her now... still missing a few parts but closer than I was.
  2. This morning I drove from Kingsport to Oak Ridge. From here to the I-81/I-40 split it rained like pouring pi$$ out of a bucket. From there on to Oak Ridge and back it was just light rain.
  3. Wow! Thanks I'm planning on doing Dads g-26 for him for Christmas. I will see when I can lay hands on it and then shoot you a pm to see when you can get to it.
  4. Going to pick up my set from Law Enforcement Sales tomorrow!!!!
  5. This is what I was concerned with and one of the reasons for the question. This wouldn't really be a problem for the "range loads" I was originally asking about as they would be loaded powder then filler then bullet, put in one of my cases and then shot at the range. Not much chance for them to be shook. But that is a valid question for others looking into using filler. I was just curious about the use of filler. I am going to try to get a chance to shoot the "powder only" loads pictured above this weekend and see how they function.
  6. Glad to hear that she has been found. Btw: the alert email didn't make it to my e-mail until 10:18 this morning.
  7. Anybody know where I can get a set of TFO sights installed on a XDS 45 around the Tri-cities? I already have the sights just need someone who can do the work. I also have a set to be installed on a Glock 26 if dad decides he wants them.
  8. I loaded the first six with powder only. I don't drink coffee so no coffee grounds lying around. I figured I'd try them first to see if the filler was needed or not. I was more or less asking as a forethought just in case these rounds didn't function properly. When it comes to reloading I always would rather ask people with more knowledge on the subject than just trying something. I really appreciate the comments and concern. That's what I like about this place. Everyone looks out for each other.
  9. Thanks Garufa. I just wanted to make sure before I tried anything like that. My first six cast boolits loaded!
  10. To start off with I'm new to loading cast boolits. I have been loading jacketed bullets for a few years though. I'm loading 200 grain F.N. CBA hard cast 44 Cal. I'm using IMR SR-4756. My load data says 7 grains is the max load. After looking at a 44 magnum casing with 6.3 grains in it there is a LOT of empty case. Then I remembered about a year ago I met some older guys at Cherokee rod and gun club that were shooting cast 45 long colt rounds. After they had shot a few rounds I started to smell coffee. I went over and asked them about it and one of the men told me that they used dried coffee grounds on top of their powder loads to fill the case and to keep the powder in contact with the primer. As I think back on this it kinda makes sense to me now. Anyone ever heard of people doing this or anyone do it themselves?
  11. Prayers for you and your family. Shared the Facebook post with all of my middle and east Tennessee friends.
  12. Savage model 110-BA $1,880 in stock http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=100001475&dir=700|1484|1485
  13. I sent the picture to my dad when I did it and those were his exact words.
  14. I finally bought a tumbler today and was so excited about loading some SHINY brass that one casing must have skipped a step. That was the only one out of a hundred. Oh well. At least now I have 99 more rounds to shoot tomorrow afternoon!
  15. I actually took a ballroom dancing class in college... go ahead and laugh. I was the only guy in the class so I had to dance with all of the girls. After a week or so I started to enjoy it. The late night "practicing" with the girls didn't hurt either. Only used it once since graduation and that was at my wedding. You should try it. It's harder than it looks.
  16. Going to the range after church tomorrow to see what she can do
  17. Here is my new Savage model 10 fcp-sr .308. It has a 24" fluted and threaded bull barrel, accu-trigger, accu-stock, bi-pod, and 4-12×40mm Vortex Diamondback scope. The scope is temporary I have my eye on a Vortex Viper that will soon replace this one.
  18. I believe I am going to go with a Vortex scope. I bought a vortex diamondback 4-12x40 for $100 off a buddy of mine this morning and I was rather impressed. Just going to do a little more research on their different models to see which one is worthy of riding atop my rifle. ;)
  19. This just made me and a whole table of construction workers cry in stir-fry cafe.
