Gay Liberal Commentator for CNN trashes gun control crowd.
wjh2657 replied to wjh2657's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I used the entire description because this what LZ has said about himself. He defends Liberal and Gay issues normally. That is why this article rally grabbed me. I wasn't calling him names, he describes himself in this way in his articles. -
Kerry and McCains poster child for going to war is a fraud
wjh2657 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Our government is composed of liars and we are surprised that it lies? Both parties are composed of people who couldn't tell the truth even if they wanted to. War is money, it is the greatest profit generator of all. The people who will make the money hide their children from the war and kill our children to increase their bottom line. No, I am not a liberal Democrat. I am a former Republican supporter (40+ years) who is now an Independent. Both parties are simply tools of big money, My political affiliation is simple now, I am an American, and I am tired of being used! -
Another sterling example of why only the police should carry guns!

All legislation is written so that the "Law of Court Performances" prevails. Keep the wording so nebulous that it doesn't state anything. Then the person with the best lawyer can win the game. In short: rich guy wins/ poor guy loses. It is our way of life, so live with it.

TN AG: Cities can ban firing weapons
wjh2657 replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In my 70 years I have lived in many cities in all parts of the country. Not one of those cities allowed the discharge of a firearm in city limits. What's new? -
A couple of years back the Tennessee State Guard provided security at the Boy Scout Jamboree at the same fairground. We had gunfire (gang related) at two of the back gates. The whole area is gang turf and extremely dangerous. I had Duty Officer that night and I was the one that called Lebanon PD to come out and investigate. They seem to accept the gunfire as "business as usual" and didn't seem real upset about it. It is a beautiful little city and the fair is great but I wouldn't want to be unarmed at night there again (TSG can't carry weapons on duty) as it is a high risk area.

Mrs. Ted Nugent Arrested With Gun At Airport
wjh2657 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am 70 years old and yes, forgetful. I can assure you however, that I know where every one of the 30+ guns I own are located and whether they are loaded or not. I have never "misplaced" a gun in a place where it is not supposed to be. I spent 30 years on active duty in the USMC and a lifetime with shotguns and rifles. I respect the fact that they are dangerous if mishandled and maintain control of them at all times. To do otherwise is careless and disrespectful of others' rights. Everybody that carries should know only too well the laws involved and if they don't they need to spend some time learning those laws. This wasn't a mistake, it was a flagrant disregard for the law or very negligent behavior, either of which is a violation of the law. The Second Amendment and our HCP's do not make us "special" they make us personally responsible for what we do with our weapons. This woman is not a "victim of the establishment", she has broken the law and the consequences will follow. Being she enjoys celebrity status and is wealthy , I doubt very much that the consequences will be all that severe. -
No refusal dui check points in tn.
wjh2657 replied to Mdunntn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It's legal;. There is no Constitutional right to drive a car. It is a privilege extended by the State of Tennessee. Since they are the agency extending the privilege, they have to right to decide the conditions of the privilege (regulations). -
Syria: Does Use of Chemical Weapons Change Anything?

What is important is that the people that bought their congressional seats would make a lot of money in the process. -
Are there any clear spots reaching 700 yards left in Tennessee. Houses are going up everywhere. I live in what is supposed to be farm country (Macon County) and I don't think there is a 700 yard clear spot (No houses) anywhere in the county anymore. Before somebody jumps up and tells me about some spot in a "holler" remember I said "clear." that means no houses within the range of your round. Elk guns normally are good for danger out to 3-5 miles! I'm sure there is some out there but they will be private property for sure and lots of folks are skittish about the danger range of Magnum rifles. Good luck anyways. My grandfather and I use to hunt elk in Saskatchewan and I have hunted in Elk in Montana. Both of those places were areas where you could ride a horse for days and never see another human being or man-made structure! The cabin we stayed and sighted our rifles in was a good 50 miles from the next cabin!

The TV whore is at it again. He would be the worst broker.
wjh2657 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If and when he runs for office again the RNC NeoCons will tout him as the savior of Conservatives and all of the Republicans will vote for him again. All of this will be touted by the GOP as lies by the Liberal media and deny he ever said any of these things. This is exactly what voting pure party line has gotten us. Living lies. Democrats do the same thing. Both parties are packs of liars and crooks. -
I only own one big bore rifle. Mossberg ATR100 in 30-06. I carried a Winchester 70 in 30-06 all over SE Asia (all three countries) for USMC from 1963 to 1966. Always made my "bag limit" and came back alive (and went back three more times, but with conventional weaponry.) I have faith in the 30-06 to kill anything I will need to kill and I trust a bolt action more than any other action. I base my choice on personal experience not what some "expert" has to say. If you are talking a "shoot to eat" survival rifle: Marlin Model 60, hands down.

Perhaps a case to test carrying in a properly posted business?
wjh2657 replied to wtl's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Tennessee Law does not allow the use of a firearm to protect property. If the perps were fleeing they were no longer a threat to his life. Everything he did here was wrong by law. Book him for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and revoke his lease would sound appropriate here. -
Petition against funding obamacare
wjh2657 replied to kieefer's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The current Federal Government, including both parties, has no interest whatsoever in what people think. They only worry about telephone calls from their campaign supporters (i.e. Bribe payers). You will vote for whomever the elites pick to run, primarily because you have absolutely nothing to do with their selection. Government of the people, by the people and for the people never actually got off the ground. It died under Hamilton and Adams during the early 1790's. We today have confused political parties for "the people". We blindly follow party hacks and vote as we are told. Life here is still good because we still have a semblance of democracy at the local levels, but I don't know how long that is going to last. -
Do what you have to do to stay alive. After that, regardless of any logic, it is up to a jury and state laws. In one state you could break down your neighbors door and blow him away on his couch because you don't like the color of his car and the jury would let you go. Another jury in another state would burn you for murder if you shot and killed a member of MS13 when 5 of them attacked you in your own house at 2:00 a.m. There is no magic formula here, the jury is going to do whatever matches their beliefs and their mood. Even within Tennessee the outcomes will vary greatly. Trying to guess what a jury in Memphis would do versus what a jury would do in Macon County is an exercise in folly. Zimmerman drew a really savvy jury. Even though several members were upset by his actions they stayed within the law. The state prosecuted him for the wrong crime and the jury would not convict him for the stated crime. I think he would still have walked on a self defense plea against a Manslaughter charge, but for sure he didn't commit Murder, as defined by Florida statutes.

The economy tanked because of business practices and Banks turning into casinos (all over the world, not just the USA). The government exacerbated the problem with massive bailouts, started under a Republican President and continued by a Democrat President. Neither party has any desire to fix anything. The goal here is to seize as much power and money as you can with your elected office. Until the U.S. comes up with a viable third party and dismantles the Rep and Dem parties we are stuck with chaos. Your votes don't matter and your opinions are worthless. We are the "little People" of Romney's country club set and we just don't count. I was a Republican for 40+ years but now I am just an American and I don't like or trust either party.

I am very pro-Second Amendment and I carry with a HCP. But I question the tactics some posters seem to endorse. " Let's go out and scare the hell out of those woosies who outnumber us and are on the edge of voting to pass anti-gun legislation." That seems to me to be right up there with poking yourself in the eye with a sharp stick.

McCain backs Obama's call for 'stand your ground' review
wjh2657 replied to greenego's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
John McCain is very much a symbol of the new Republican Party. Like all Neo-Cons, if he can't lie his way out of it he will join the other side to get votes. Reason I left the party ten years ago to become an Independent. BTW, I guess I have to keep saying it. The Z trial was not a trial of Stand Your Ground. They tried him for murder, which he did not commit. He did not leave his truck with the intent to kill Martin. They should have tried him for Manslaughter which he could have beat with a simple Self Defense argument. If they really want to change the playing field, try people for the crime that fitsand not something that has nothing to do with the actual events. -
Self Defense was not even the issue in the Zimmerman trial. The issue was: did Zimmerman commit Murder as defined by Florida law. For Second Degree Murder the Prosecution had to prove that Zimmerman left the truck with the intent to kill Martin. This was not proven (I don’t even believe it was his intent) and in fact nothing in his telephone transmission to the police dispatcher ever indicated that he intended an actual encounter with Martin. Zimmerman was not guilty of Murder, which was a sound and fair decision. Self Defense would have entered the picture if he had been charged with manslaughter, as SD would have been a valid defense. The jury however did the right thing in not considering a charge of Manslaughter. The prosecution had not presented a case for Manslaughter and the Defense had not given a rebuttal for manslaughter. The charge was Murder and that was the charge that was argued and the charge the jury considered. Detroit failed because they were a one industry town. All subsidiary industries were attached to the auto industry too. I lived in Toledo (for all purposes a suburb of Detroit!) and I worked at Kaiser Willys. The Automobile Industry failed to read the market, got arrogant and depended on crony Capitalism to survive. Other auto manufacturers, located in other states, read the market and produced the cars people really wanted and at prices they could afford. Chrysler and GMC lost out. Their truck divisions were all that kept them alive. I drove a 55 Ford Crown Victoria in 1960-1963. After that I always drove a GMC product, either a Buick, GMC Truck or a Chevrolet. For the first time in 50 years I have gone back to Ford and I bought a 2013 Ford Focus. It wasn't a political decision. I drove all of the cars and the Ford was the car that best met my needs . Businesses don't exist to create jobs. They exist to produce a product or service that will sell and make a profit. Business CEOs, shareholders and Unions alike share the blame for the failure of the Detroit Auto Industry. Greed and ignorance of market mechanisms on all of their parts doomed Detroit.

Guns in parking lots - Now OK at the local Post Office?
wjh2657 replied to Machman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I long ago started the practice of putting revolver in COM safe in the trunk. Go straight to Post Office. Leave Post Office, drive to across street to Big Lots. Open trunk, retrieve revolver. Put my revolver in pocket and go on my way for the rest of the day, armed. Takes no more time than putting groceries in trunk and avoids all of the problems. Without seeing me put the gun in trunk (done at home) and not violating law at Big Lots parking lot there is no due cause to search my trunk at Post Office. Just common sense. -
Please Mr. Obama leave us alone !!! Egyptian people
wjh2657 replied to ted's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
We got involved in Egypt originally because of pressure to the WH by McCain and Graham ( and other NeoCons) to back the then rebels. ( How soon we forget what really goes on!) We need to stay out of the Middle east completely. If anybody attacks Israel then we come to her aid, otherwise back off! This is an Islamic problem and we are Christians, and we have nothing to gain. Contrary to popular belief we are not dependent on Middle East Oil. The only ME oil we use in quantity is Saudi and they don't like any of the other ME nations! We could even cut off from Saudi Arabia and make up the difference overnight with more oil from Canada and Mexico.
