It's not up to us, we made the rules and now we live by them. We sat down at the end of WWI and later WWII and decided to make a game out of war, with rules and penalty boxes. As far as might makes right, it's been tried before , that is why we had WWII, to make sure it didn't happen again. It always seems that it should be different rules for our side, which works as long as you don't lose! You are not talking to a bleeding heart liberal here either. I served three tours in Viet Nam and I am a Conservative, but I am not a Militarist nor "my country can do anything to anybody because we have the bigger bomb" person either. Whether we like the rules or not, we executed people for not following those rules that we made. Now you want to throw them out because they don't guve you what you want. It just doesn't work that way.

The "pansies" in this country have nothing to do with it. In 1945-47 the Allied Military decided to make the rules (retroactive) that all soldiers were supposed to fight under. It was called the Nuremburg Trials. We made the rules, now we have to live with them. We created the label of war crimes and now it applies to us too.

Basically he is saying that if we get the h*** out of his country he will quit fighting us. We already knew that. He is giving the "Bring them home" faction of the U.S. ammunition for a plea to quit the war. He is giving them a "withdrawal with honor" card to play. It is a smart political move. As I said above, these guys are pros and have been at this for a long time. The leaders of the Taliban are extremely clever and experienced at playing the politics game. These are not "dumb ragheads." The leadership is well educated and most of the religious leaders also have field experience. They are also playing on their home court. We underestimated the abilities of Ho and Giap in 1963-1975 and we paid dearly for it. I hope we don't ake the same mistake again. Make no mistake. This is again, a political war not a military war. We can win all the battles on the ground and lose at the bargaining table, if we even get that far. This isn't "Liberal Propoganda", this is experience. I l have lived through this before. "Been there. Done that. Got the ball cap and the T-shirt."

Thomas Jefferson is the Libertarians favorite founding father. many of our current beliefs and policies come from him. BTW they didn't listen to him in his own time either. He was too"radical."

Is pointing a gun always considered using deadly force?
wjh2657 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"The "Asked for HCP on her own Property" thread got me wondering if the act of aiming a firearm at a person is always considered threat of or useage of deadly force." According to my legal beagles , aiming a firearm at somebody without due cause (legally constituted self fefense) constitutes assault with a deadly weapon. In short, if you don't intend to shoot him, don't point it at him. The Citizen's arrest or holding at gun point can backfire because the BG still has to be proven guilty of committing an offense in your presence. If the authorities don't press the action, drop the charges or he is found innocent by trial, he can come back and charge you with AWDW. Be aware that in many large cities the courts are crowded and many times charges are dropped if they don't involve big money items just to "grease the skids" for a busy court. He has more rights than you do and if you don't kill him outright you are sure as heck going to violate a whole bunch of his rights. If he isn't a threat to your life, let him go and be a good witness. Keep serial numbers of your belongings and have a good homeowner/renter insurance policy. Remember Thomas Quigley's sage advice: "This ain't Dodge City and you ain't Wild Bill Hickock!" -
I'm a revolver guy but I own one big bore Semi-auto, a Glock 23, and I have all of the confidence in the world in the G23.

I don't even shoot +Ps in my Airweights. I shoot Standard Pressure in them and +Ps in my SS magnum J Frames. I will be using my guns at <21 feet and I don't need all that extra velocity and/or wear and tear on my beloved guns. I weigh, gauge (Go-No Go), and check primer height on all of my factory ammo before I use it. Anything out of the ordinary (within plus or minus 1 SD of Mean) doesn't get chambered in one of my guns. I shoot .38 Spl and .40 S&W and feel real comfortable with what I put in a cylinder or magazine. Any .40 S&W that has been chambered goes into a baggie if not fired and rechecked for set back. I do this with factory ammo! Partly because I did use to reload and know accidents can happen and yes, I do find rounds that fail inspection, even in the best of ammo.

I don't know what the actual powder weight or type was but main point is: if you can blow a Ruger Super Blackhawk apart, you pretty much can blow any gun apart.

Served 30 years in USMC, 6 years of that in country of Viet Nam. Wounded and decorated, enough to make new ribbons expensive to buy. American public was told that we were defending "people" of Viet Nam against Commie "bad guys". Fact: RVN voted to be rejoined with NVN and go under communist rule in 1956. All of the Vietnamese worth their salt sympathized with NVN (they wanted reunion with the North). To win in Viet Nam for good, we would have had to kill all the Vietnamese. American public are being told that we are protecting the "people" of Afghanistan against Taliban "bad guys" I haven't been there but I have talked to many who have. Feeling is pretty strong that we are in same situation again. People will support their "homies" against us when the chips are down. The Mujhadeen didn't kick out the USSR, the whole population did. Solution again: kill all Afghanis? This is more like trying to police South Chicago with nothing but White Cops. No matter how good your intentions or your logic: the home folks just aren't going to buy it. Does anybody really believe the new "Democratic" government of Iraq is going to be a real ally? They will rise up and support support their Muslim brothers in the terrorist movement against us. As for being "casual" about casualties: Those who haven't buried their own children or grandchildren killed in war can quote "patriotism" all they want, people get tired of funerals. Those who haven't lost loved ones have no right to be critical. Enough die and many back here will want to end it. Only the dead themselves can call these people cowards and the dead can't speak, they have been silenced. War, even under the most logical of reasons, is still a bloody and weary endeavor. Whether it is 4,000 dead or 40,000 dead, it is still a lot of dead loved ones that are missed. The Taliban can just downgrade and hide and then come back out again, they make this thing last forever. They've done this for centuries, they just wear down the invaders. The Taliban will win because we will weary of coffins coming home. That was a big factor in the downfall of the regime' in USSR. Russian mommas got tired of burying their sons.

I used to work as a DVD teacher in a youth facility. As it was explained to me, for juveniles the written records are archived (hard Copy) but are tagged on computer record and have very very limited visibility. I don't believe his records are even visible to the DOS.

Couldn't be the reloader or shooter. Gotta be an S&W Airweight KB.. If you got one, all of them are gonna do it, everybody stop buying S&W J- Frames, they're dangerous. This will be enough for hundreds of anti-J Frame threads on all the forums. We'll be hearing stories about how peoples' "friends" had their J Frames just KB for "no reason at all" and how we all have to start buying other brands. Meanwhile, my 642 will still be in my pocket, loaded with inspected (by me) factory ammo and I am not losing sleep. (I don't with my 3rd Gen Glock 23 either, "Been there, done that!") I reloaded for decades, and I know you can load a round that will blow up any make of handgun. A good friend tried a published ".45 Magnum" reload somebody dreamed up and blew his Ruger Super.45 Colt Blackhawk apart. I dare anybody to tell me the Ruger Super Blackhawk is a "weak" gun!

Common occurance in some clubs. A Marine liberty call wasn't complete unless you rode back in a SP/MP truck!

I did thirty years active service in the USMC and a good part of that service was "In harm's way." Civilians do not realize how deep the love of service goes and that you are dealing with guys who, at one time in their lives, were expected to be violent. To many of them that service time was the most precious time of their lives and they will not cotton to any snide remarks about it. I think that , with the addition of alcohol, it not an arena that you would want weapons thrown into the ring. The Vet's clubs are more like an NCO or Officer mess than a civilian bar. They don't allow weapons in the NCO Club or O'club.

Mouthy young whippersnapper! Main street, high noon. You bring the bleachers, I'll bring beer for the spectators. Truth is, I can be pretty feisty for an old fart myself. But when I strap on a gun, I turn "Grey Man" and get very inconspicuous.
-
Us old farts can be mean s***s when we get a few drinks in us. I am a long time retired MGySgt USMC and have been a school teacher for over 20 years but I still turn PFC on Liberty and look for sailors to beat up after a couple of brews at the VFW! All kidding aside, bars at VFWs and ALs tend more toward the "bar" side than the restaurant side. Probably not a bad idea!

Nobody stated it outright but there seemed to be whole lot of concern about whether the clerks acted correctly or that the cops may have overstepped their bounds. The focus here is that you don't "kid around" when carrying a gun. You especially need to be careful when in a sensitive area like a bank. 2dA doesn't say you can go around scaring the H out of folks. What the authorities did here is not the real worry, the old boy who did it is the concern. This kind of conduct is scary and he needs to lose that HCP if he is going to be this childish. The other factor is that if somebody faced off on me, "patted" his gun and looked hard at me I will probably go from a condition "light yellow" to a condition "dark Orange" up to and including starting for my gun. That isn't cute behavior, that is challenge behavior. This "cowboy" needs to defanged.

Hire Zatoichi, his sword is real. He can be had for sake and stewed eel (Inagi).

Remember the 2d amendment doesn't say anyting about not pertaining to crazy people, child molestors, ex convicts, wife beaters or people who just don't like banks! A definite violation of his 2dA rights. I know because I read the forums! For all you hard 2d A types (no other laws apply) Idiots like this will get our guns taken away from us faster than all the Liberal Democrats could do together. Go up and threaten bank employees with a gun and see how far our 2d A rights can extend. Sometimes I feel like that guy in the commercial where everybody else in the office is a chimpanzee! We don't need to feel sorry for this guy, they need to get his HCP away from him and disarm him, he is a definite nut case. BTW easy on the senile stuff, he is only 5 years older than me. My wife, my gunsmith and my tailor are the only people that know I carry, and I intend to keep it that way! 99% of us CCWs are very solid and sane citizens. We need to cull the nut cases out of our ranks.

Being as you are from Memphis, will the ammo can fit in there with the Barrett? I have been to Memphis and I have been to Viet Nam, still prefer Viet Nam!

Zombies can be knocked down by bullets but not killed. shoot them and they get back up again. If you cut off their heads they are finished. Katana is ideal Zombie finisher. Also good on immortals and vampires! Hire Zatoichi, and you will be Zombie, Vampire and Immortal free!
