  1. From the posts around the forums It seems like you have to be either an Obama loving muslim commie sheeple and believe that socialism is good or you have to be a a Romney loving right wing Nazi raciist who believes that Romney is the second coming of Christ . I am neither one so I guesss I might as well stay home on the first Tuesday in November. i don't have an invite to the party.

    Morals

Morality is in a constant state of flux. What is moral here is immoral there. What is moral at this time is immoral in another time. Simply put, morality is all of us coming to agreement as to how we, as a group, will behave. In cannibal country, it is moral to eat your neighbor! Don't digress into ethics either. Ethics are simply morals written down, same arguments prevail. It is because morality fails to provide universal guidance that we are burdened with that greatest of all evils, the law. For group safety, we have to pursue legality instead of morality.
  3. What happens in court due to the Zimmerman/Martin shooting is of no real consequence. The media is "trying" the SYG law in the Court of Public Opinion. Whether the law is a defense or not in this court case is already a dead issue before it ever gets to trial. The Court of Public Opinion is already making a "jury" decision on the SYG as a "good law" or a "evil law" and the courts are out of it. The legislatures make the laws and this is an election year. The public pressure will decide whether SYG stands as a legal option or not. Timing could not have been worse! So far as trying to sway the public opinion in our favor, using logic and history has never worked in the past, why hope it will this time?
  4. Point was not to correct your English, but to re-emphasize the fact anytime you modify a gun it will take some fine tuning to get back your reliability. I wasn't trying to put you down. The Meaningless Detail Minded Freak
  5. Wrong header for post. Should have read "Modified Glock 21 jam" Anytime you modfy a a factory made weapon, you assume the responsibility for the changes you have made to the weapon's original design. I did modify my Glock 23 and put in a NY#1 trigger as I was uncomfortable with the 5 # pull of the original. However, I am well aware that I cannot ever blame the Glock if that trigger fails. "It didn't come that way."
  6. You picked a little gun and a pretty big caliber. Recoil is now a way of life. I went from full sized 1911s and Glocks to a .38 Spec +P Airweight. I wanted more concealibility and I now have accepted the bone jarring and wrist snapping price! I practice with light loads but that is an option that the revolver gives that you will not have as a luxury in a semiauto. Nasty recoil is the price of being able to be sneaky! I also wear a glove when shooting at the range, Still hurts but just not as much.
  7. My regular theatre (at least once a week) and no posting!
  8. As a 30 year retired Marine (MGySgt E-9) I think everybody is making something out of nothing here. I am not about to question the judgement of a General grade combat commander. I don't the security issues he was facing nor the political environment at the time. I also don't get paid to make the decision. The general was in charge and it was his decision, I don't know enough about the place nor the time to say he was wrong.
  9. Right on! I am a conservative (little "c") and I see no conservative running for Prez that can be elected. We are stuck with Progressives any way we go. We need big changes and not just in the Supreme Court. We need to repeal the 17th Amendment (direct electionof Senators) and get state interests back in central government. We need to increase the size of the House as it is not fixed in stone. The law stating its size is declared null and void every 10 years. The USSC decision of Wood vs Broom stated that after each census the size of the house can be changed by Congress. Right now each House member represents 730,000 citizens. That is totally inane! With a larger House we could input new, younger and unsullied Reps who are truly Conservative. New people would also be out of the loop with the "Masters" ( Corporations and Unions) and could govern honestly. With the Senators tied more closely to their State Legislatures, national influence could be tempered by states' needs. Sound familiar? It is the way the Constitution of the U.S. set it up! Decrease the bureaucracy and increase the representation!
  10. Voted this morning. Mom and I voted for RP.
  11. Unfortunately we again have a strong misunderstanding of the Constitution of the United States. The Constitution only restricts the Federal government and its lawmaking abilities. Incorporation simply means that State governments must also observe certain aspects of the bill of rights when they make laws. Not all of the Amendments have been actually incorporated. Tennessee, thankfully, has already incorporated most of the Amendments into its Constitution and TCA (laws) but that is a state thing. Marriage is not a good analogy as that is a state mandated (laws) factor and not a Federal ( Constitution) matter (contrary to certain candidates' statements). Quoting the Supreme Court of the U.S. is totally counter-productive as decisions can be found supporting both sides of any argument. The Right of Property has been consistently held up by court actions and the laws of the land since the Magna Charta and in fact was the main concern of the founding fathers. (Read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist) Individual rights of ordinary citizens was actually of very little concern to the Aristocratic founding fathers.) Progressive and Liberal revisionist history as taught to us in schools has totally warped the original intent and philosophy of the founding fathers. Americans need to read the original works of the founders to get a grasp on the DOI and COTUS. An individual's rights have never and never will trump property rights in America and the Constitution of the United States and the body of law will always support property. I am sorry if that offends most people on this forum, but it is what is. It is who we are and what we do.
  12. I don't shoot high end SD ammo all of the time. I normally shoot WWB 130 gr FMJ from WALMART, which is inexpensive and matches my SD ammo (Hornady 130 gr XTP/JHP) in ballistics and recoil. I misunderstood your definition of squib load. As a long time handloader, a squib load to me meant an intentional light load for practice. Question. Am I the only person that QAs his ammo? I weigh and measure OAL in all of my ammo, even the WWB cheap stuff. Anything over 2 Standard Deviations for the batch gets tossed. A habit again from the old days when I loaded my own. I find quite a few unacceptable rounds in commercial ammo. The stability of loads was a big factor in my selection of the WWB and Hornady ammo. Both show very reliable figures on testing.
  13. Look in a mirror. We are responsible, we keep sending them back!
  14. Why woud you want to shoot squib loads from a snubbie? I carry a snubbie and fire with practice rounds that are as close to my carry rounds as possible. It is strictly a SD gun and you want practice to mimic real life as much as possible.
  15. HD is Mossberg 500A with #1 buck. Trained to fire two in quick succession on first and closest target. Wound will be far too extensive for me to help with. Major problem here will be buying new carpet.
  16. My biology professor in college told me that man isn't a species, he is a disease and someday the Earth is going to get healthy!
  17. Removing the Socialist and replacing him with a Fasciist makes me sick. All of the Neo-Cons and Progressives that the Republican party is running are just as bad if not worse than the Democrats' "New Dealer". I am not seeing a sensible or sane choice being made available this election. It is sickening to see that this is the best that we can do.
  18. Perry Suing to Get on Virginia Ballot - Fox News The States have the authority to determine their own primary procedures. Now a Republican candidate is going to the Federal government to force a state to allow him to bypass the state procedures. What the happened to the small government and "by the Constitution" stands of the Republican party? Are we going to do away with states and have a "Department of (blank state) buraucracy in D.C. now? This destroys the credibility of the party and of the "Tea Party Constitutionalists" for this election. "I believe in the Constitution only if it gets me what I want" mentality prevails. This is just some of the BS that forced my decision to leave the party after 40+ years and make me a libertarian (note small case "l".)
  19. "There are in nature neither rewards nor punishments — there are only consequences."Robert G. Ingersoll Do not look for deeper meanings or moral justifications in the actions of men. It is the responsibility of the individual to consider all possibilities of consequences to their actions. One of the possible consequences to breaking into another's home is that you might be shot. Do not look to a deity or to man's law for answers. It is simply what it is!
  20. I have a Ruger MKII. With its reliability and accuracy I don't really see a need for another .22 Semiauto. If you really want variety, buy a good .22 revolver for a change of venue and variety.
  21. Step one to regaining this country for the people. Don't send anybody back! If the government is too complex to grasp in one or two terms, then it is just too damn complex period.
  22. S&W 686 in 2.5" bbl. Used WWB 130 gr FMJ .38 Spcl ammo. A real tackdriver!
  23. Exactly. Both parties are Socialist. One is Corporate-Socialist and the other is Populist-Socialist. Neither is republican or free market (note: lowercase "r" in republican)
