I sent you a PM with some questions
-
I hopefully will be buying a house and 20 acres soon. It does not have a garage or shop on it. What size should I build? I built a 30'x40'x12' with a 10'x16' door at my last house(had to sell before I ever got to use the shop) and I ran out of room quickly. I would like to add a lean-to off the side or back to store things, thus using my shop for it's intended purpose. I did metal trusses on the other and liked them in some ways but it would be nice to have a flat ceiling for decking and lights. I do have a tractor/equipment and would like to put a 2post lift in, in the future. I do not have a camper and don't intend to get one. I do plan to have livestock but don't think I want a barn/shop combo. A service truck at work is 10'4", and I would like to put it in there on the rare occasion. I hobby mechanic and metal work when I can find time away from work. I'm really thinking about 14' walls and possibly 2 12'x12' doors but might stay with one 16'. Is 30'x40' large enough? I asked a lot of questions when I built the other shop and got a lot of helpful input, just wanting to see if I should change anything.

I know the building they used in the 'boro was leased to ATT. They tried the old Fred's building but I think there were a lot of problems with parking.

Glock stippling and trigger guard modifications
gomer pyle replied to leprechaun's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
BAM customs, near Hooper Supply, is teaming up with a local man and they are supposed to be starting soon on custom Glock stuff. I personally have never used either individual so I can't give any reviews. Let me know who you go with and how it turns out. -
300 blkout cutting casings
gomer pyle replied to gomer pyle's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
From my understanding, it only does it after firing. He did try multiple brands of ammo. I'm pretty sure he bought it new. For my knowledge, what would be the problem. I know you said he would probably need a new barrel. -
A buddy at work recently bought a Daniel Defense in 300 Blackout. Every time he fires it, it either rips the casings in half or if it ejects, it has a ring around it where the others are coming apart. I told him he needs to contact DD but he would rather fix it local if possible to avoid shipping back and forth. I know I'm not explaining it very well but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for all the suggestions, we are looking into all of them.

It's funny you posted this, our attorney is the owner/founder of Big Fluffy Dog. I had forgotten until you posted.

We recently lost our basset hound. We got him when my wife and I got married, and little man has had him his whole life. We are looking at getting a chocolate lab pup. Our son and other dog are lonesome. I don't know where to look for dogs anymore, there not in the Tennessean or on Craigslist anymore. Does anyone know of a person or breeder with labs?

That is my budget. I haven't seen very many Bobcats in that price range, so I haven't looked at them much. I have read that John Deere's are tight for a tall person??

While I agree with you, I just can't afford a new one. I try to pay cash for everything for "me". Everyone I've talked has said the same thing as you, once you have one you can't go without it.

Anyone doing Ceracoat in/near Nashville?

BAM Customs in Murfreesboro does good work. -
If you are going to mow 5-6 acres weekly, that mower won't last long. I tried a badboy zt model a few years ago and didn't like it. It was my first zero turn and it absolutely turned me off of zero turns. After talking to a lot of yard people and a whole lot more research, I went and looked at Hustler and Toro at dealers. I felt like I could get the same quality of mower with less money thru Toro. I got the 2000 series which is the first step into their commercial series and I love it. Whichever brand you go with, I suggest finding an actual dealer and going thru them. They will take better care of you when/if you have a warranty issue. Lowe's subs all there warranty work out and you can sometimes wait a couple of weeks to get it back.

I have a older 30hp Deutz tractor, and it does good for bush-hogging, tilling, etc.. I'm to the point where I "need" a front end loader. I'm always needing to move dirt, gravel, and pallets of stuff. With the design of my tractor, front end loaders don't mount easy and I've never seen a 2wd loader tractor that was worthwhile, rear tires always spinning. My intended uses are: 1. general dirt work around house, garden, and property 2. property clean up/tidy up 3. driveway repair 4. moving steel and tooling in/out of shop (hobby metal working) I originally had in mind to get a used 50hp+ 4wd loader tractor and possibly a tow motor. Now I'm starting to think about a skid steer and keep my tractor. I don't know a lot about skid steers, I've rented a few different ones but I'm not sure on maintenance, life expectancy, or brands. I have in mind to get 60-80hp tired machine with hopefully 2500 or less hours. I have no preference on control style, I've used foot controls but wouldn't mind trying joystick. Opinions? Ideas?

The Weston may be out of my price range right now. What about the FoodSaver 4840?
-
I also read his comment but according to Weston's website doing that will void your warranty. So be careful
-
For those who have the jar attachment, how often do you use it ? I'm really leaning towards the Weston 2300 but I would not be able to use the jar attachment.
-
Which model?
-
My wife and I are wanting to get a vacuum sealer for meats and garden extras. I was looking for recommendations on brands and models. I've looked at the Food Saver 5460 and it sounds good on their site but I wanted first hand experience.

I thought I was ready to be her nurse but that is a rough surgery with a lot of care needed. I'm glad she went ahead with reconstruction now instead of later. Like you said, plastic surgeon expects 6month to 1 year recovery. And yes we couldn't have done it without God!

I feel your pain, it is scary. My wife is just 31. We were lucky in that we found a GREAT doctor and staff. Her first doc sucked to say the least. The best news is, the doc called today to tell us that the path report came back that all of the cancer was removed with a good safety margin(at least that's what I call it, can't remember the actual term). Also, the lymph node that she had to remove came back benign.
-
She's out of surgery. Both doctors said everything went well. They were able to remove all of the cancer. Thanks for the prayers
-
My wife goes in tomorrow for a pretty big surgery to remove cancer. They estimate a 5-7 hr surgery. This is her first surgery and first time to be put to sleep. We found out at Christmas that she has cancer and then a couple of weeks ago that it may be in her lymph nodes. Please say a prayer for a safe surgery and a benign test result on the other.

Sounds similar to the Greenlee's that work bought. They are considered "smart meters". I have seen them show voltage where none existed and visversa. I never trusted them. Does it self change between AC and DC? I would try to return it, you will never full trust it even if it starts acting right.

I'm a lineman, so from wet to dry, from muddy field to concrete, it changes every day. The first pair of Irish Setters I had I loved but the last two have not held up well. I can't wear a Muck everyday, they kill my back.
