Just lost my dad this April. He was an Lt. in Hotel Co. 2/5 USMC in country in various actions, and ended up critically wounded and med-evaced out of Hue City in Feb. 1968. Hell of a guy, but he had problems later, especially after The Wall opened up in DC and he started having reunions with guys he served with. I've never felt safer in my life... in a hotel room with a bunch of amped up Marine vets, telling war stories. You could scoop up the intensity in the room with a spoon.

Boy, that's the truth. If only I could go back in time and revisit a few things.....and just kept my mouth shut.

Are the ones you find with the bullets pushed back into the case yours, or someone else's? Crimping is a process used primarily to prevent that from happening. Opinions vary as to whether crimping is helpful or not. I do it- its not hard, and does not negatively affect my loads. Those HDY 55gr FMJ bullets have a cannelure to use for crimping. You won't 'mess up' your load by making a light crimp with the Lee FCD- just a light crimp is all you need though. Just a side note, I will only use my own brass for my handloads. I know I'm a bit picky about that, and others use range pick-up brass with no problem, but I want to know exactly how many time my brass has been fired, and each batch of my loads is color coded with a sharpie and separated by headstamp. I like to be in control of as many variables as I can. Especially when it comes to explosives next to my face. I don't want to grab a pocketful of brass from the range not knowing that the person who left it there had already loaded it a dozen times and then left it as trash.

My Dad is a Marine vet from Vietnam. When he handed me the first firearm he ever got me, he said "clean it and wipe it all down with Hoppes #9. It's all you need." I have followed the advice for years and all is well. Although, on some parts that get lots of friction, i will use just a dab of shotgun choke oil/lube.

I typically get velocities plus or minus 50 fps on my AR loads. I measure the powder on both the Chargemaster as well as an RCBS 505 beam scale. Some variation is bound to happen, and the extent to which you worry about it depends on the kind of shooting you do, and how anal you are about it I guess. And I did shoot my first chrono....it still amazes me how much it freaked everyone out at the range. Geez people, not like it was their chrono, or like it was ten thousand bucks.

I like Cabelas much better. I think I remember that BPS bought out Cabelas earlier in the year though.

Good advice already posted here. I'd really recommend lessons- you dont have to have a PhD in music theory to play, but knowing some basics will really help you enjoy it more. Also, learn to read tablature (tabs). Practice, practice, practice.......

Thats the same gun my son uses on his high school trap team. I've never seen any problems with rhe Federal- it should be fine for your needs. What's a little more important might be shot details, like #7.5 or #8, and 7/8oz shot or maybe 1 1/8 oz shot. Its really what you prefer, but Google 'shotgun shot size' and you'll find charts that show the differences. For example, one of those has something like 150 more 'pellets', although they are smaller that the other option. Your call. May I suggest using the modified choke for trap?

I absolutely love it. Worth the price to me to have stations tailored to exactly the kind of music i want to hear, without tons of commercials. I also like being able to listen to Fox News, ESPN for football and basketball games, etc. I javent listened to regular FM in a few years.

Like anything else, they come as complex and expensive as you want them. I was heavily into bass fishing for a few years, and I had the Lowrance HDS equipment on my boat, with down scan, side scan, gps, etc. Humminbird and Garmin are also in the game with similar equipment. The more you want them to do, and the larger screen you want, the more you can expect to pay. I really liked the Lowrance HDS. Of course, the trick is figuring out how to use the features once you have the sonar installed!
