Farragut proposing Kennesaw-esque firearms legislation
superduty replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
When I went to high school there, opposing sports teams called us the 'Farragut farmers', because it was semi-rural. It has changed a lot since I moved to mid-TN, but the people who grew up there are still the same, regardless of the home they are living in. Good grief, when I first moved to Knoxville off Cedar Bluff Rd, IT was rural. For that matter, all of Knoxville has changed a lot. Except, of course, that the interstate is probably still under construction. I've no doubt that the priveleged that have moved in have changed the social demographics of the area. I still like the idea of a legislator having the cajones to suggest the bill. -
Farragut proposing Kennesaw-esque firearms legislation
superduty replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I grew up in Farragut in a decidedly non- California-esque family. Lots of friends there that are the same way. Heard about this from my family in Knox. I know a lot of people smiling right now, saying, "well, I guess we're covered". -

Senate rejects tougher background checks
superduty replied to Beretta Bob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Two more amendments to be voted on tomorrow, but I can't temember which. Universal concealed carry was voted down today, although both Alexander and Corker voted Aye, just for the record. I think the embarrasment has been done for the Dems, though, regardless of tomorrows votes. Be happy of todays battle tonight, but the war is not won. -

Absolutely the repubs must keep the house, else the goose is cooked. -

Two things that made me laugh while watching this unfold in the senate - 1) Feinstein's head spinning right off in her speech before the vote on the AWB amendment 2) In the address to the press after voting ended today, Harry Reid raving about how out of touch Republicans were, everyone was crazy for not voting for common sense stuff like Manchin Toomey.....oh wait! He didn't mention that he voted against Manchin Toomey too! Wish someone would have called him on that during the conference. I will say that today Corker and Alexander towed the line for us here in TN though. -
.22 about to go through the roof????

If so we need to figure out a way to really come down on the resellers/scalpers. -
Damn.

Bummer. Oh well, like I said, worth checking out, anyway. Still surprising to me that they wouldn't practice as a group- that is ultra-precision, super close flying that would seem like continued practice and honing of skills would be necessary. Could get really dangerous fast is someone were off their game.

Bill Oreilly arguing for registration
superduty replied to superduty's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've heard him say before that he's sll for an AWB, but this was a new level of stupid. He was serious about it. -
Just watched him argue Dobbs for the case for gun registration. Even proposed Chicago would be safer. I dont like him to begin with but WTH? He's that stupid? Good grief.

Something I learned a few years back that may or may not surprise you.... Did you know that, even though you are your kids' parent, you are not their legal guardian, unless you go through the courts? Bizarre. At my grandfathers' death, he left an amount of money in his will for my son for education. It was not disburseable (releaseable to him, as a minor, nor me, as his father) until I went to court and had the judge declare me his legal guardian. I have all sorts of questions about that, but thats how it is. Just thought I'd toss it out there. In my suspicious mind, sounds like something that could be used against a person.

Friday 6:30 am - Cabela's has .223 cheap right now $6.99/20 rds
superduty replied to BigK's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Ditto. I'll be damned if I'll pay $.50 per round for 22LR, $1 per for 223, or almost $1 per for 9mm. If I can't randomly find it at normal retail, I'll just wait. Price gouging and the whole re-seller crap gets on my last nerve. -
Well, regardless of whether 'official' air shows are called off or not, I would imagine those guys still have to practice. It may be worth a phone call.

Just bye the bye, if you ever happen to find yourself in Pensacola, go to the Museum of Naval Aviation on base. It is phenomenal. Also, the Blue Angels are based at the NAS there- you can watch them practice if you get there early enough in the morning. You can basically get in on a free Blue Angels air show before you tour the museum. Just check the museum website for dates they practice. I highly recommend it! :usa:

Voting just wrapped up on the Firearms Bill. 60 'aye' votes were needed to move the Firearms bill forward in the Senate. 68/31 in favor of moving forward. Lots of amendments coming up to be voted on- AWB, mags, Manchin-Toomey, etc.
