Then they would have had all the crude they needed. Stalingrad wouldn't have needed to have happened, which could have changed the war. Of course, it could be argued Stalingrad didn't 'need to ' happen anyway, but that's beside the point. Not to mention the Ploesti oil field raids.

Is it hard to find 9mm ammo these days?
superduty replied to jaymc75's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Shop online. -
The yugo ones, and I assume you mean the NPAP and OPAP models, are just fine, and priced well. I got an OPAP a few months ago, and although it had a bad hammer spring I had to replace, is really nice.

Exactly what you should expect when asking a Ford vs. Dodge question. If you threw in Chevy/ Gmc as well, we might all fight about it :) It's the age-old quarrel amongst truck owners. That's why you see the Calvin & Hobbes cartoon character pissing on everyone else's brand. Some loyalists won't ever cross brands.

What are you towing that you need a 450 for? And why do you feel like a Ram 3500 will be equal in towing? There's a jump from 350/3500 to the next step usually. Ford/Chevy/Dodge. Get what you like. I have a 2002 F350 7.3 that has been modified that pulls like crazy. I haveva cousin that has a newer Duramax that has been great. In a new truck, I really like how the new Dodges look. Whatever, get what you like. I like Ford, but dig the new Dodges. New diesels are pricey though.

DMV was 11/18, prints done 11/20, received HCP 12/13. So 3 1/2 weeks from beginning to end I guess. Not too bad, especially considering Thansgiving was in the mix of that range.

Got it today. Weird.

The lady at my fingerprint place told me about 2 weeks. It's 3 now and still checking the mailbox. I should probably not worry about it so much. My new hopes are before the new year. .

Gun Confiscations Begin in NYC!
superduty replied to luvmyberetta's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. Still confused over the insurrection you mentioned, however. Are you suggesting that you don't think that those in New York are not ' hiding them away'? I would inagine that they are doing many things to protect their 2A rights. Guess I'm confused about your 1st and 2nd posts . "However, no citizen insurrection." "The only "insurrection" over firearm laws will be folks hiding them away against "that day"." -
Gun Confiscations Begin in NYC!
superduty replied to luvmyberetta's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
True, but........what is the right time for insurrection, OS? Now? Later? October 13th at 3:12pm? When do you suggest? Who's going to be leading that insurrection? Have the New Yorkers been notified of this? I can tell you that they are fighting tooth and nail in the courts up there, doing everything they can to fight against the SAFE act and Cuomo/Bloomberg. I think most of us would probably try that route first before 'insurrection'. Seems pretty reasonable, really. Obviously, It's a foregone conclusion that the left will work to whittle away the rights of Americans with every step they take, and sufferring any setbacks they must endure to reach their long term goals. -

Yes, it's real. Real bad. I've been spending some time looking around one of the New York firearms owners websites, getting the 'feel' of how things are going down in that state. Many New Yorkers' general view, as taken from a post on nyfirearms.com: -
I hear ya. My FIL just died of cancer this past weekend. My grandfather a few years before that. It's awful. More than any human should endure.

I finally got an opportuninty to get to the range for a short session today- short because my fingers almost froze off. After picking it up, I gave it a good cleaning, per the manual, and put about 75 rounds throught it today with no issues.

Well, for example, I have several hundred 115 gr JHP Winchester bullets for 9mm. There's no load data in the manuals I have, or that I have seen online for that specific bullet. Thats what I was getting at- if you don't find the specific bullet in the data for recommended starting loads, etc, whether the rule of thumb is to find a bullet(s) that have as close to the same characteristics as you have (ie, 115gr, JHP) and analyze what the starting and max loads for those different brands are, and base your test loads off of that info.
-
Curious as to what you guys think about this- So, I'm set up to reload 9mm as well as .223 Rem. In each of these cases, over the past several months I have gathered various bullets of each caliber. Question is..... Many (if not most) of these bullets are not referenced specifically in the load manuals I have at home or am looking at online. The manuals may have a different brand bullet, or a different type bullet, like JHP instead of FMJ, but it's rare that I see exact matches. I've researched the topic a bit, but was curious what you all do in these situations- when you have plenty of load data, but your bullets are not included. Do you simply find as close a match as you can, and go from there? Do you gather as much info as you can from different sources, and take an average of the starting loads from all the different sources, and go from there?

I'm picking up mine from my FFL Monday. I'll add my range report once I'm done.

Remember those two "boys" who killed that 88 year old WWII Vet this summer?

I'd be happy to lend you a hand. Let's make sure we pick a place where there are sharks. -
That guy is a total creep. I'm using my family friendly internet language.

Ayup, right down the road from me. You're never as safe as you think you are, eh?

Yes, I'm resizing and then trimming, and the case necks are still there, as well. I just found it odd that, for example, all of the Remington brass that I've been working has needed to be trimmed, where this particular batch (Federal) has been so much shorter that the trim-to-length.
-
Hey guys- I've started working up a bunch of (my own) brass that I collected from my range trips over the summer. Over several hundred cases I've prepped so far, almost every single peice has been over the trim-to-length and has required trimming, which I would expect. BTW, it's .223 Rem. However, I've come across one particular batch of brass, all of one headstamp, where none of the pieces are even at the minimum trim to length after being once-fired. They're all too short too trim, and there's really no way I can think of that I'd be able to properly seat a bullet in these cases in order to reach the COL measurement. Any ideas why this brass would be so short? It seems weird to me that, after being fired, the cases would not have lenghthened. Or, if they did lenghten, they must have all been factory loaded very short to begin with. ??????

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm set up to reload for .223 and 9mm, and thought I'd investigate whether it was worth it to look into x39. I guess I'm trying to determine (for a recreational load only, not hunting- FYI) if it would be at all cost effective to try to load for this caliber. Buying at retail, the Russian steel-cased rounds are $.30c or less, so I'm very happy just buying rounds assembled, but, like a lot of guys, there's a bit of 'what if' built into my head after going through the events that have transpired since 2008. Don't want to use the word 'prepper', but you know what I mean. Forethought and planning. I havent even seen bullets, brass, etc available for the x39 round- I'm sure they're out there, but they must not be really common. If it would cost $.40 -$.60 per round to load one, it would probably just make more sense to buy a little extra factory made ammo.
