  1. Poor-Man is back, reading people's minds and applying his omniscience to all discussion! The ENTIRE THREAD is about rights! You're something else, my man. You've actually got me laughing aloud at you right now. Thanks for the smile!
  2. My post on page 3 reinforces what 6.8 AR said. I came at you for your characterization of the poor, as I think generalizations like that do nothing to help anyone out, but the motivation was/is that these restrictions are indeed a ban on (some) poor people. I wonder how you guys would feel if the State required you to take an eight hour course (then prove some unaspiring level of proficiency) regarding libel, slander and other dangers associated with free speech, along with paying a fee in order to exercise said 'freedom'.
  3. If push came to shove I'd have no problem eating whatever I need to. Otherwise, my standard rule is meat = yum, organs = nothankyou.
  4. I'm nervous about diving into scotch, honestly, what with my Scottish heritage... hehe
  5. I sure am glad people don't feel this way about our other rights!
  6. I can't argue with you, you grew up in the projects in DC - you know the situation of all poor everywhere! You're Poor-Man! There's no way anyone in this country can be responsible AND be poor enough they cannot afford the $200, because you said so. I see no reason to continue this discussion, Poor-Man has enlightened us all!
  7. Sure, they have the authority, no problem. Doesn't mean the current fee schedule is right. BTW, nice straw man you got there with the 'welfare' bit. Oh, sorry! I didn't realize that your singular experience means that you are now able to paint entire groups of people with one incredibly broad brush. OK, you win, poor people all have big screens and cars and accept welfare, they are unable to carry only because they choose not to.Thanks for enlightening us.
  8. Just saying, been there, done that, too. To say all poor folks as 'having cars and big screen TV's, welfare and foodstamps' is unfair to folks who haven't had the breaks you and I have - I know tons of poor folks who struggle to keep a roof over their heads and feed their families, often without some of the basics that we consider necessities, in order to get by. Characterizing them as lazy or careless isn't fair. $200 is nothing to many of us nowadays, but for some folks it may as well be $20k or more. And the fact that they should have to 'save their money' in order to be able to legally protect themselves, as basic a right as there is, is a load of crap. Congrats on pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps, but not everyone is able to do so. Not everyone who is poor is lazy, nor do all poor folks waste their money on luxuries.
  9. You sound like someone who's never been poor.
  10. Agree 100%. I told my wife after we both went through the courses and paid all the fees that most poor folks we know would have a hard time paying for the privilege of exercising their rights. I've never seen any numbers, but I'm willing to bet that a vast majority of HCP holders are middle class and above.
  11. Yah, in the last few FBI rankings, Memphis was challenging for first place (though Detroit isn't likely to lose the title any time soon). What's oft overlooked is tha Nashville is consistently in the top10 metro areas (crime/capita). Both cities kinda suck wrt crime, but just like Memphis, it's select areas of Nashville.
  12. It's not political correctness, it's fact! I'm not PC in any way, the FACT is when you look at statewide crime statistics, the metro areas DO increase the overall crime rate. That's not debatable. Heck, one can argue that the outskirts of Memphis are safer than much of the state as well - crime statistics show this. A vast majority of the crime in Memphis happens in a few select zip codes.
  13. Same could be said for Nashville, presumably. While Memphis sucks, any major metro area will drag the crime numbers way up...
  14. My absolute fav is the Sazerac Rye 18, though I'm not wealthy enough to sip that weekly...
  15. Just sayin', nothing beats a good bourbon, and I'm a complete beer snob. Levity, it's not just for cooking...
  16. Or drink some decent bourbon.
  17. Very nice, guys - thanks for all the valuable info! I'm really looking forward to digging into this now!
  18. I'm interested in picking up a recreation BP revolver from the civil war / western ear, something along the lines of a Colt Army 1860 or a Walker Colt. Really looking for one to shoot, not as a collector, so which brands should I consider? Cabellas has quite a few kits and such, but outside of a long time love of these old revolvers, I know very little about what to look for... Any ideas?
  19. For all the hand-wringing regarding how dangerous our freedoms are, no one seems to ever want to make note of the violent crime rates, where the UK has surpassed the US. Just goes to show that violence WILL happen, whether or not you get more than a spork to defend yourself with depends on where you live...
  20. Ugh! I'm SO TIRED of seeing this rhetoric, this LIE being spread about. You do NOT lose health care, you lose HEALTH INSURANCE. They are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. And no matter how many 'facts' you try to present, you've obviously missed the fact that, for most of us, this is an affront to our liberty. I couldn't care less if this saves me money, I don't want it as it attacks my free will. I don't even know why I typed this as I'm certain you won't get it and will continue to argue as if our liberty is a bargaining chip.
  21. That's a great one. I often outline a scenario like this: - You're alone at your dinner table and an armed man kicks in your back door. There is a phone and a gun on the table, but you can only grab one - which one will you grab?
  22. BLAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That. Is. Awesome.
  23. Great video, thanks for posting.
