Only because storing a year's worth of food is cheaper and more practical. Not to mention the (what should be obvious) fact that unless stable trade is established, you're at the whim of whatever the general populace values. The reason people put stock in hoarding away food, water, ammo, etc., is because it provides self sufficiency. Gold only protects your wealth - good luck cutting that 1oz of gold into a loaf of bread...

Ed Mason told me the front site was off, but it's now taken 15 weeks to get it straight (well, I don't have it yet - who knows how long it might actually take). I understand being 'busy', I run a very successful small business myself, but this level of service is deplorable. I'm picking my AR up and bringing it to Classic this week.

I might just do that, gunsmoke308 - I dropped it off Ed Mason 15 weeks ago for a simple front site adjustment, still nothing. In fact, I'm calling/picking it up tomorrow or Friday and bringing it over - this is pathetic...

PM's are for protecting/storing wealth not for currency/bartering. I've never found a country that collapsed financially where gold and/or silver were used to purchase goods. You might find a story if you look hard enough, But I've never found it.

"Eat what you store, store what you eat". That's a basic tenet among preppers. If the SHTF, you'll REALLY appreciate having decent food around for a month or six. While packs like this are easy to buy, I believe you're better off taking the same amount of cash and buying long term stuff that you eat daily (rice, canned veggies, dried pasta, canned tuna and chicken, etc). But if you want 'easy', you can't beat this...
