  1. Well, what's worse is the inevitable movement of business HQ out of the US. Now that Japan has lowered their corporate tax rate (as they finally admitted it was pushing businesses away) we now boast the highest corporate tax rate in the world. And businesses are moving out like there's no tomorrow. It doesn't have to cost them much as most taxes are based on where the company's HQ are located, so many US-based companies are simply moving their 'official HQ' to a small office in another country, keeping most everything else intact, so they can escape the burdensome taxation from the fed gov. It still amazes me that people think it's the government's job to be their safety net and provide so much crap for them. Some folks need to re-read the US Constitution and note what the fed govt's role is supposed to be - by advocating greater taxation, you're advocating greater power in the hands of the government instead of the individual.
  2. Touché. I hope you're right and I'm just jaded - while it wouldn't directly affect me any more, I'd hate to see so many folks become ever more dependent on the government - by force...
  3. So, based on the second picture, I have to ask - you do know you're supposed to cut the gun's grip to match the G27, not your hand, right?
  4. Nah, all they'd have to do is tell everyone they were giving them 1.1:1 in the new Govt Retirement Fund and people would line up. And those that didn't wouldn't do anything but complain.
  5. Unless the law has changed, you cannot bring in pepper spray from out of state into NYC - you have to purchase it in NYC and register it...
  6. As our debt crisis continues to worsen, we'll see more and more moves that would have been unthinkable just a decade ago...
  7. You either cash in now and take the hit or you wait and see how the gov't handles your money. Guess which one I chose a few years ago...
  8. Oh man, anyone who thinks they AREN'T going to eventually take your IRA is crazy...

  10. Oh man, I didn't need to watch that. Is that a 22lr upper in the first two vids?

  12. You really can't even carry a pocket knife in NYC. While the law says certain knives with blades under 4" are OK, the definitions are so vague that police can arrest you on 'deadly weapons' charges for a small, basic (non-tacticool) pocket knife. IOW, if you do carry a basic pocket knife, don't clip it to your belt or pocket - conceal it and make sure you read up on where you can and can't carry it. They have CRAZY laws up there, lots of sheep.
  13. Hahaha, truth.
  14. Man, that is NICE! Congrats, and enjoy it!
  15. Nah, but $75/hour including benefits isn't far off the mark... So as of 2007, the average UAW GM worker was getting around $73.26/hour including benefits to build REALLY crappy cars.
  16. Personally, I believe businesses should be able to tell any and everyone exactly who they wish to serve, based on anything they choose, be it race, HCP, etc.

  18. When I bought a new Weber (gas) grill last year, I researched them a bit only to find that the 'Genesis' and 'Summit' lines were the only ones made in the USA - the Spirit (cheapest and most common) line is made in PRC. I really wasn't planning on buying a $750 grill, but I wanted to buy US made and new the Genesis line was a true upgrade. In retrospect, I'm glad I bought the Genesis, but many / most folks can't afford to make that decision over and over again. And I also believe in the free market, as stated above. I buy Honda vehicles because, ime, they are better built. And every time I've bought one new they've cost more than their US made counterparts, but cost of ownership is much lower in the long term - so it's not just about what's cheapest out the door. If / when I'm in the market again and US manufacturers (well, Ford - will not buy GM or Chrysler ever again) are building something competitive, I'll absolutely give them a look.

    Good cop

I'm sure it was because he was open carrying, walking down the road. Legal but will raise eyebrows. I think that's legal in California, where this video was filmed. The guy was obviously looking to make a scene and capture it on video, but failed miserably when he came a across a rational, good-natured cop.

    Good cop

I missed the OP of this video, so thanks for posting it. Big time props to that officer!

  22. Hahaha, interviewing rule #1 - know the answer before you ask the question.
  23. Just, wow. Speechless, really. Far worse than I had imagined upon reading the thread title. If that cop still has a job, the people of Canton are screwed.
  24. This. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but the 'closed system' is why the OSs are so stable.
