  1. Is a helmet-less cyclist at fault if an animal runs in front of them causing them to crash? No, of course not. But the fact that they chose to do something stupid (riding without a helmet) means I won't be surprised they are injured. Assuming they live, they shouldn't be surprised, either.
  2. Haha, man, some of you make leaps that are amazing. I haven't read a single person suggesting banning bicycles or motorcycles. I agree with DaddyO - if you don't want the risk of being exposed, then don't ride a bike on the road. You're more likely to get shot if you choose to handle firearms daily - that's not suggesting they should be banned, it's just a fact. Most of us choose to handle them anyway, for various reasons, accepting that risk. Bikers are the same way. But don't blame the rest of us for pointing it out.
  3. Considering getting a .40 suppressor, but don't really know much about them. The reason I want .40 is I'd like to be able to use it on my G22 and G27 (both of which would render the 180gr round sub-sonic) and possibly on my Sub2000 and my .40 AR (assuming I build it as I plan). I know on the rifles I might have to find or start loading lower power round to keep it subsonic, but for now it seems like a good plan considering how much .40 I shoot. So, any ideas or recommendations for a good quality can that will work on a pistol and rifle? Any help appreciated!
  4. As I've said many times before, the people of California have the government they deserve.
  5. I don't suppose he caught the irony of sitting at the VA while questioning your faith for not relying on the Lord to protect you, eh? I mean, the NT is full of stories of folks being healed by their faith, why should he have to see doctors? OH! You mean God gave us a brain for a reason?
  6. Troof. Why would they otherwise?
  7. Wow, even with a smiley you guys take it to heart...

  9. Thanks, I had been debating that and was pretty sure I wanted a single-action airbrush, you convinced me...
  10. Considering it was Air Force, I think we all assumed it was something other than 'opening a can' as any team with a pulse does that to service academies. Guess that shows how far the bar has been lowered for ND...
  11. OU needs to find a running game to win the championship - one dimensional teams get eaten alive against good defenses... 86 yards rushing against Texas - that won't get it done against an LSU or Bama D.

  13. I dunno, I read the article and didn't think Brian did anything other than what he always does - present the facts (often including some info he gathers here) and lets the reader decide. I didn't read it as 'anti-gun' at all. And while Memphis has it's issues, no doubt (why we moved out out of it), Nashville ranked #21 in violent crime the last I looked and was in the top10 just a few years ago - the reality is large metro areas = increased crime, and Memphis and Nashville combine account for over 44% of the state's population. Add in Chattanooga and Knoxville and the four cities account for over 2/3 of the state's population...
  14. Agree 100%.
  15. The noise you hear is due to improper gain-staging - turn the LOC down and run the amp at 75% or so of the gain trims. Them set the LOC so that your volume control on your HU is where you want (say, 3/4 of the way up, set the LOC trim so the level is where you want the 'max' listening level to be. Forget grounding, if you had grounding issues you'd hear alternator whine following your engine RPMs. Assuming a clean signal feeding the amp, you have a FAR greater chance of damaging speakers with too little power than 'too much'. Amplifier clipping damages more voice coils than anything.
  16. I think your generalization regarding 'these types' flies in the face of historical evidence. "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." - Lord Acton
  17. Perfect - since I'm doing this for the first time (and while I love the idea of doing this sort of thing all the time, the realist in me knows I don't have the time so I won't be doing this a lot) I figured I'd go for decent but not-too-expensive equipment. Thanks for the tips, this is precisely what I'd hoped to read. As mentioned in my post just above this one, I've removed the OEM finish and the surface looks to be in good shape to take 'paint' so to speak - not polished at all. Guess it's time to decide and order!
  18. Thanks for all the tips - haven't really looked at Gunkote yet, but I'll do that before I move forward - your CZ looks great, nice work. I've already disassembled and stripped it, then buffed it lightly with a wire-wheel to remove the tiny bits, so the surface is ready to be fully degreased (I've handled it a bit with my hands) and then finished. Just researching the best solution.
  19. You think having a small group of officials who can order the killing of 'enemies of the state' (as defined by them) is somehow so complicated they can't pull it off?
  20. I'll admit, I'm actually amazed at the trust some have in our government not to abuse this.

  23. Fascinating - everything you wrote is exactly how I view those who would toss aside the Constitution for pragmatism. You're the one who tried to tug emotional strings. In answer to your question, we could simply go get him - remember Pakistan? But it's easier to just kill designated 'enemies of the state' than to follow the Constitution. I believe in principle above pragmatism.
  24. I'd be shocked if it wasn't a private (read: secret) ceremony.
