  1. I was at school in Lake Mary (suburb of Orlando where I grew up) and we had, rather unusually by this time and in this temperature, stepped outside to watch it after it cleared the trees. Even from there it was obvious when things went bad. Knew a lot of folks who worked KSC - it was a tough time for a while. I'll never forget it.
  2. I guess I'm just cynical about the whole thing, but the current scare tactic is SCOTUS appointments - there's something in every election the establishment uses to leverage votes for awful candidates. Last time it was our guns - if we didn't elect McCain, we'd be England by now! If Obama wins again it's because the repubs cannot nominate anyone worth a crap. So be it. Whatever happens, happens, but I'll sleep well knowing I voted by my conscience and principles. Those voting for the lesser of two evils ought to step back and note what that's brought us over the last few decades - THAT is why we're where we are today...
  3. I simply disagree - we've had a succession of awful presidents because people only vote what their party tells them to. I refuse to vote for someone I wouldn't want as president (or any other office) any more. Never again. Whatever happens, happens, but it won't be the fault of those of us who are actually trying to vote for the best candidate instead of who has the 'best chance of beating the other guy'. That's precisely what's gotten us to where we are today. And I never said anything about the 'perfect holy candidate' - no point in building a straw man here, I'll simply cast my vote for the person I think is the best choice. Now those who are 'party' voters go ahead and, utilizing pretzel logic, blame the voters who actually cast their vote for the BEST candidate instead of the masses who simply vote as they're told to (virtually always voting for someone they know isn't a good choice, but is indeed the lesser of two evils)...
  4. Sure it's spin. I can play, too: people who continue voting - as sheep with a herd mentality - for the most likely to win instead of who they truly believe is the best candidate are why our country is in the crapper. See how easy that is? I'm voting for who I think is the BEST choice, period - matters not what 'ticket' he is on. If everyone voted this way we'd be a lot better off. Instead, we have the repubs constantly promoting idiots who aren't far removed from our current president (see #43, as well as McCain in 2008) and like good little sheep the voters, fearing what might happen if the other guy wins, line up and dutifully vote who they're told is 'electable'.
  5. No sir, I've not. Thought about it, but never seem to be able to make the time.
  6. I've thought about this quite often since it was last debated here (right of employee vs right of property owner) and will admit that I've changed my stance on it - I think we need this to happen. Going to contact my reps today, thanks for posting.
  7. No, I'm saying what Ive said countless times before - I'm not voting for the lesser of two evils. Spin that however you wish.
  8. I prefer neither, but at least Mitt appears - superficially at least) to be a man of some character. I'll vote for neither.
  9. While that's generally true, there are a few out there that don't seem to fall within the boundaries of this almost universal truth... ... and Gingrich isn't one of them...
  10. Is there really any question that Gingrich has ethical issues?
  11. Good decision. High court: Warrant needed for GPS tracking - CBS News
  12. It's a great point...
  13. I undertand, and forgive me, but my point stands - you claimed that the anti-gun folks could post these quotes back one-for-one, essentially, yet I'm unfamiliar with them, and frankly, that's a tenet to your point here. Unless one can show these quotes to counter all the quotes we are aware of (as linked above, post #108, for example), it seems we know rather well exactly what the founders had in mind wrt 2A. To say otherwise, claiming the gun control advocates can show similar but opposite quotes without posting or linking to them actually seems to indicate a bias on your part. Again, I'm not trying to bust your balls here, i cannot imagine how difficult it must to remove bias from something you have to research and write - I'm simply saying that we have a huge amount of evidence that the founding fathers wished for us to have the right as individuals to keep and bare arms, and that they considered this a vital aspect of liberty (so much so it's second in the BoR). If the gun control advocates have similar but opposite quotes, and that's the basis for our allegedly 'not knowing the founders' intent', then we need to see them. Thanks, CA
  14. Hey Brian, not trying to be aggressive here, but one of your primary arguments in this thread is essentially (paraphrased) 'no one knows what the founding fathers meant by the 2A ', you said so here: This is why I'm asking again for the quotes you alluded to above - I'm unfamiliar with really any quotes by our founding fathers that gun control advocates could use to strengthen their position. Since you brought this up as a foundational support to us not 'knowing the intents of the founders', I'd like to see those quotes, please. As we have many examples of the quotes from the founders supporting virtually unrestricted gun rights for the individual, I'm puzzled by the statement you made. And if there are none (or they aren't as direct as those listed in this thread alone for the rights of individual gun ownership), then I'd suggest we absolutely DO know what the founding fathers had in mind wrt gun rights for the individual. Whether you wish to promote their thoughts in your articles or not is your business, but unless you can show me some quotes like you mentioned above, I'd have to say that I think it's rather disingenuous of you to claim otherwise... Thanks, CA
  15. We all deserve better than this, Mike...
  16. Likely spent a LOT of cash against Bush as well as all the R's running for house and senate seats. They spend far more against people than for people, historically.
  17. Brian, I'd be interested in seeing all the gun-control quotes from the founding fathers you claim the gun control crowd can show. Thanks, CA
  18. Maybe if he'd admit he wrote it instead of asking what 'the definition of 'is' is', so to speak, things would be different. The fact that he starts this thread practically begging for praise but won't accept deserved criticism for writing racist emails to an elected official doesn't sit well with some folks (heck, he won't even admit he did it). It's not about ganging up, it's about calling out the exact sort of behavior we don't need when we're trying to educate people about 2A.
  19. Watch the video, there was more to the email, they only highlighted that bit: City Councilman Undaunted By Racist Email - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports It was a disgusting display, to say the least. The fact that the person who wrote that ('anonymously', no less, because he didn't have the balls to sign his name to it) is now 'representing' gun owners in the Knoxville News is depressing.
  20. Meh.
  21. Wow. I guess that answers the question after all.
  22. Fascinating - I was totally unaware until I saw this thread. Would love to hear how the trigger is...
  23. You can get vinyl stickers like that made for about $0.33 each (if not less - that was the cost of my company's last small run of 300). I'd be surprised if David wouldn't order more - looks like there's plenty of demand. I'd buy a few.
