  1. Hard to pass judgement one way or the other without knowing all the facts of a situation, and Lord knows the media distorts any and everything from that part of the world, but this seems like a natural progression for him after what BlackWater has been through recently...

    AR upper dilemma

Amazing that they won't pay for shipping back considering it was THIER mistake. I'd talk to everyone up to and including the owner and demand that much at least.
  3. Yes.
  4. FYI, 19dB is nowhere NEAR enough for the impulse transients you find in most firearms. You need at least 30dB broadband NR for most anything bigger than a .22lr. Trust me here, I have to know this as my career depends on my ears.
  5. http://www.uline.com/BL_1022/Max-Lite-Ear-Plugs-NRR-30?keywords=ear $24 for a box containing 200 pairs of 30dB reduction disposable plugs. I keep at least one box in the house at all times.
  6. That's precisely the point - the rift won't come from the issue (2A rights) - it's only a pawn - the rift will come from the demarcation of power. I could be totally wrong here, but I believe Reid/Pelosi see the writing on the wall wrt Obama's economic plans and feel that 2A can be the sacrificial lamb they give up - as it's not currently hotly contested/regarded overall - in an effort to reclaim their power. Together, along with a D congress, they have the power to run the country the way THEY see fit (pregnant pause for shudder), but like it or not, this is a GOOD thing, if this is truly their motivation, as it is as the constitution is written...
  7. Indeed, I think it may well do that, though I regard republicans little better than I do democrats - neither seem to have a priority to pursue small government and fiscal responsibility anymore. The more important issue here is that if Reid and Pelosi do the right thing (standing up for our 2A rights, regardless of the their motivation) we may well see the beginnings of a return to the balance of power between the presidency and congress that has been so sorely missing for so long. Sure, congress rattles the saber every now and then, but in the last few decades, congress was either a puppet to or an adversary of the president. As long as congress' role is determined by the party affiliation of the man in the white house, we're in for problems. Our founding fathers showed incomprehensible wisdom in the way they framed our government - if we'd just follow their outline (US Constitution), I think everyone would be amazed at how well it can work. I obviously don't know their motivations, but if it's a power struggle, I'm pulling for Reid/Pelosi on this point (I can't believe I just typed that)....
  8. IIRC, it fell 10 points in the last week (14%). The media may make that out to be "not much", but at that rate he'll be in very bad shape in a very short time. No matter what we think of their political ideals, Reid and Pelosi aren't stupid wrt accumulating power - they didn't luck nor get voted into their positions against their will. IOW, they are both sly political foxes, and while we'd all like to think they lay awake at night trying to figure out new ways to take our guns, I believe implementing Occam's razor would lead one to believe this is a power struggle. That's what I think is happening, fwiw. 2A is just a pawn here, and Reid and Pelosi know they have a issue that most people will follow them on in their fight against the messiah...
  9. Indeed, but I honestly don't think it's what many here would believe - I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that Reid and Pelosi see that the states are becoming restless and are realizing that the re-emergence of the 10th does more than reposition states' rights, but also removes the imperial presidency. IOW, strong states' rights also mean a stronger congress (relative to the presidency, which in the last 30+ years has become more and more imperial). I think we're seeing a power play here - Reid and Pelosi both know that, constitutionally speaking, they have nearly as much, if not more, "power" than the president - combined they can do what they want, assuming voting support in congress. Therefore, regarding the AWB, the have little to lose by standing up to Obama and much to gain - no one is willing to kill their career for another AWB but they can use it as a power play. This move might - just might - signal an early end to Obama's honeymoon.

  11. See? HE'S DOING IT RIGHT NOW!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!
  12. Will do, and you will! He and my mom have outright murdered a few tree stumps with it so far, and now he has a rifle as well. I think with your help we'll have him in full-on gun-nut mode soon enough...
  13. *bump* Picked up the CMMG conversion from HeroGear today (big thanks to Joe for holding it for me as he promised - apparently he could have sold it 10X over in the last two weeks. Two diff sales guys said "OH! You're the guy he's holding this for!", hehehe). Haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but will soon and will report back. Thanks again, Joe!

    What a Day!!!

Sounds like fun - you get the CMMG kit for your AR? I'm picking one up from Joe Saturday...
  15. I just fired off letters to my Rep and both Senators, I urge you ALL to do the same, right now. The NRA may not be worried yet, but we should be active ANY time there is a threat, and this one is on the horizon. We need to be active, not reactive.
  16. Well, if the dems do this now, they can hope (and realistically, it might work) that people will cool off about it by the next election. Who knows. And for all those who scoffed at those of us who have been stocking up on hicap mags and AWB firearms, told you so...
  17. Wow, I wasn't aware of that - very nice.
  18. No one wished harm, per se...
  19. Guilty as charged, sir! FWIW, what you sold me was just a drop in what I have already. Really need to start reloading, but until then...
  20. ... or should I just continue to look around online?
  21. Haha, yah, I'm in the process of building another bookshelf (this one will take up half of one of our walls - probably 9-10' tall and 15' wide). If we ever move - ugh - I shudder to think about it.
  22. Thanks, but I'm a bit of a book-whore - I buy everything I want to read, in hardcover if available.
  23. Yep, and if you want pink, grab one of these...
