Exactly, hence my posting what I did in response to your question. .45 SGD's are fantastic rounds for stopping the fight! I'd take them any day of the week and twice on Sundays once I knew they worked reliably in my firearm. It's why I have over 2k .40S&W SGD's in an ammo can.

Did you read the whole thing? It plainly states that most use 'point shooting' - a technique that doesn't require site alignment. Many of them practice several times/week - that's a lot more than most of us do. You don't have to spend much to get amazing protection. You may gain some cool features like limiters and noise cancellation, but you'll likely not gain anything over the inexpensive stuff wrt to overall protection. With proper selection of simple foam plugs and cheap passive Peltor's you can achieve >60dB of attenuation - more than enough to avoid damage (considering the short duration of the transient of a gunshot).

I've considered buying one and leaving it draped over a chair when we leave the house.
