If you haven't heard this song, give it a listen. Toby pretty much tells it like it is. THANK YOU to all service men and women who served and protected us while we were sleeping in our soft warm beds!!

When I lived in Pascagoula, Ms. in the early 70's there was a black man that had a 55 gallon drum turned into a PIT MASTER!! On Friday's he would cook ribs and made what he called rib sandwiches, which is 2 pieces of white bread and about 4 ribs with the bone in stuck in the middle. He cooked at the back edge of a shopping center on a little side street. That was some lip smackin pig popsicles!! Fast forward to the early 90's and a customer's dad had a little BBQ place out in the sticks right next to his house and he had probably the best ribs. He was an older black man and me and him hit it off the bat talking about catching bluegills. He said the first thing to cooking good ribs is having a good rib, he said a #2 rib was his choice, the bone isn't too big. Makes my mouth water, when I cook my ribs tomorrow I will think of these gentlemen who were bbq masters!!

Sounds like most everyone is having pretty good success. I thought my pepper plants were going to die back when we had all that rain. I put some calcium nitrate around each one and I don't know if that is what helped or drying out did the trick. Picked 1st grape tomato Saturday, pulled carrots up and blanched them and put them in freezer and should pick yellow squash, zucchini and cabbage by end of this week. All my veggies in raised beds, potatoes, green beans, cucumbers. For those that haven't tried it a fall garden is sometimes more productive because the pests and diseases aren't as prevalent. I have been doing 2 plantings of green beans for 4 or 5 years. Plus the brassicas like cauliflower, broccoli, carrots all do well. Glad everyone is getting some nice tasty returns for your labor.

Has anyone wondered why you can now buy canning jars with lids and rings, but not the lids or rings separately?? Sort of like you can buy a lawnmower and when you need a sparkplug, sorry you have to buy another lawnmower.

About like the daily 2 or 3 calls wanting to extend my warranty on my car. The newest vehicle I own is a 2006 Buick Lucerne, I don't think they really want to warranty it!! Pretty much if you call me and your name isn't in my phone you better leave a message noting who you are or you get deleted.

Congrats Shaun. On the subject of turkeys I saw a program a few evenings ago and a lot of states are experiencing low turkey numbers and most say it is because of an abundance of predators. They say the low number of trappers trend with the lower number of turkeys. So get out there and trap or shoot some coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, opossums, crows. This guy had some film of a bobcat, coyote and hawk all attacking his decoy.

Dunham sports has ammo/primers
Dirtshooter replied to Dirtshooter's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You are oh so right Photoguy, I will trade primers and powder or even give you some, but I refuse to buy from anyone that isn't a reloader. Well Beltfed, with enough ammo you can hold out for quite awhile. I have always said I will let the other guys stockpile gold and silver, I will outlast them with beans and bullets, I am 1100 feet from Dale Hollow lake with more water than I think I will ever need and the means to purify it. I would rather have a stockpile of lead!! -
Dunham in Cookeville has rifle ammo and 209 primers. Primers were $7.99/100
-
If they will make me some primers, I got plenty of lead and brass!!

I think the problem this time may be getting skilled people that want to WORK!!

ATF notice of proposed rule change AR pistols
Dirtshooter replied to partypilot1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Plus this last 18 months has seen a bunch of Democrat voters decide they needed and wanted a gun and they won't be voting for gun control, so the way I see it there are many more voters against crazy gun control laws and there are for it. Like Colion Noir puts it " I will not comply" . I think that should be the new slogan to every gun advocating person in the U.S. -
Last Knob Creek Machinegun shoot Oct 8-9,2021
Dirtshooter replied to Dirtshooter's topic in General Chat
And that my friends is just a sample. That is why nobody ever has and doubtful ever will land troops for a ground war on this Republic. They don't have the balls. -
Hi guys just saw where the last shoot at Knob Creek will be this October. They claimed old age as a factor. This will be the 50th year.

Corny joke of the day. Why do chicken coops have 2 doors. I will post the answer this afternoon.

My wife would leave and never come back to this house if a snake was in it. When we moved here there is a 12x12 barn style shed and she was going to use it for her crafting. Well when we moved here we just put all her totes of stuff in there, so about 6 months later we cleaned it all out and I found several snake skins, one was 7 feet long. She said you wanted a chicken coop so have at it. Well about a year or so later I found the 7 foot long chicken snake over the door. She also doesn't like the little lizards or chameleons, I am not exactly sure what the scream would sound like if a bear or gorilla got in the house, but I have a good idea. So when the blood curdling scream comes I ask her where is it? I go catch the poor little creature and put him outside.

ATF notice of proposed rule change AR pistols

And let no-one forget the BATFE don't make laws, their"rules" mean absolutely nothing to a lawful gunowner!!! Laws are made and passed by Congress not the BATFE -
Eddie I would like to know how you practice shooting under stress. Even trained LEO have a very low hit factor when involved in gunfights, something on the order of 20-30%. I have read lots of articles that say there is good evidence though that many CCW holders to be better shots that most LEO. I can attest to that, when I used to shoot USPSA matches we had several LEO come and go and only a couple stayed with the group and I think most left because they saw they were a lot poorer shots than the rest of the group. Most LEO only have to qualify 2 or 3 times per year and some that is all the shooting they do. I know for certain that practicing every chance you get does help.
