  1. Well there are lots of reasons, and they have been covered here. But what if "they" decided to ban manufacture of ammo, that nice Rem 700 BDL with a beatiful wood stock would not be as good a weapon as a golf club if there was no ammo. I said it a long time ago that I didn't believe "they" would even try to confiscate weapons, just keep a tight rein on the ammo. They must have heard me.
  2. I currently am a Ms. resident and yes the castle law here states wherever you are you can have your loaded gun. When you leave home in morning you carry it to the car and lay it on the seat loaded if you want or put it under the seat. But so I can carry one when we come to our Tn. home I have a carry permit. Al. isn't keen on not having a carry permit either you have to have the gun and ammo separate. Now what good is that???
  3. Thanks OS that is exactly the information I was looking for.
  4. I know you guys know this, but even if 99.9% of the populace say ban the guns, this is a direct violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution and is unlawful. There are people that don't understand this and will say okay here are my guns you are the Government and I know you are correct in all of your ways. This is BS and they know it, they don't call for banning cars and they kill hundreds every day, they don't ban hammers or chainsaws or a multitude of inanimate objects that kill or maim people, but the gun for some reason frightens them. If we let them disarm the nation, we will all be as slaves.
  5. Hi guys, I am currently in Ms. and we have certified instructors that may or may not be affiliated with a training school as such. My question is in Tn. are there freelance instructors that are certified to train CCW applicants? The reason I am asking is that I have a couple of friends here that are instructors and was thinking of going thru the instructor training and maybe supplementing my income when we move to Tn. Any info will be helpful. Thanks Mac
  6. Daryl, I always suggest a woman or a guy that doesn't shoot often to use a revolver. Minimum .38 special and mine uses a .357 snubby, hammerless. They can train with .38's and occasionally shoot the .357's so they build up confidence in their shooting skills. Start at 2 yards and a IPSC mansize cardboard target. Tell her it is just like playing cowboys and indians, there are no safeties or buttons to worry about, just pull the trigger until it clicks. I think alot of people like the little semi auto guns and they are great, I carry a Keltec P-40, but there is always a revolver in close proximity to where I am.
  7. It was tough in '93 and '08. I remember trying to buy 1K of small pistol and large rifle primers in '93 and they had a limit of 200 I believe. Well every day I would go in at lunch and after about 3 days the owner of the store asked how many I wanted and he sold me 1k. I saw a guy on Gun broker pay $105 for 1k of large rifle primers plus shipping in '08. He must have really needed them badly. My suggestion has been to buy a few extra's each time you buy supplies or ammo or beans for that matter. It was kind of eerie going to Wally world and they had no 22,380,9mm,38,357,40,45, you get the picture and I checked several of them and all had virtually no ammo. That is bad for the guy that depends on factory ammo to shoot.
  8. When Katrina hit here we lost power for 12 days, and it was HOT!!, you can't imagine how many times I hit the light switch, yes the one with no power. Talk about a habit, we just naturally expect it to work. Main thing we learned was be prepared which we were, our neighbors ran out of everything, matches, water, had no propane stove to make coffee. You need some sort of generator, but you need fuel. A southern engineered 12 volt fan from a late model car and a trolling motor battery saved us at night, these newer style homes even with all window up don't circulate air like the older homes with 12-14 foot ceilings. The cold showers took the most to get used to, but we really got used to our extended camping trip. Layed in the shade during the day, kinda like a Democrat does while I work everyday! No offense to the working Dem's. but if the shoe fits!
  9. Hey FrankMako, what kind of Dillon did you set up for 5.56? I was thinking of getting a 550 to speed up the process as I now use a RCBS single stage and it is s-l-o-w.
  10. Now Lawman you are a true gun fanatic, buy ammo for caliber you don't own then you have excuse to buy a gun. I just bought a gun in a caliber I don't currently reload and now I have to buy dies, bullet moulds and sizer dies, so now I am thinking of another in that caliber to make it pay off quicker.
  11. Welcome Polecat, I guess that is a first for that username!!
  12. Hey Prag, I live about 5 miles from Myrick. As for Issac we only got about 6-7 inches of rain maybe 40 mph gusts and some tornadoes. As for damage we had none, the good Lord was looking down on us. Thanks for asking. Appreciate all the welcomes!!
  13. Thanks for the welcome, Hey Caster I fit into not all here also! In fact 1 of my motto's is 2 heads are better than 1 especially when 1 is mine.
  14. Sorry don't mean to confuse, I am a Mississippian at the moment, but will be buying a place near Dale Hollow to vacation then in a few years to retire to. I am a hunter, fisher (of both fish and men) the latter being Biblical fisher of men, I compete with handguns, not like I used to but enough to keep the Zombie's should there be any at bay. I will need fishing lessons for the clear waters of DH also. I like to shoot trap and sporting clays and shoot predator's with rifle. I plan on doing a good bit of trail riding on my humble Kawasaki Mule as it is slow and I am old. I am a member of the MSgunowners and Georgia gunowners. Hope I can add some humor, knowledge (on a very limited basis) to this forum. Thanks for having me. Mac BTW my "old" username was taken here, I go by Encoreman most places.
