  1. I love people who really think that the sheep skin on the wall really makes one either smart or dumb it one doesn't have it. I have the school of hard knocks and learned it the way it sticks by having your hands on it. You can read books or Ebooks all you want, but until you wrap your hands around a wrench or hammer or scapel or whatever, you are not going to be very good at it. I don't look down on people because they have degrees hanging on their walls, but I don't think this automatically makes them smart either.
  2. I deer hunt with handguns, something I will share is to use a rest if at all possible. A handgun is 6 times harder to shoot accurately than a rifle. I use a polecat monopod that has adjustable height for a sitting to standing position. Practice a lot and shoot at a distance that you are very sure you can put the animal out in a humane way. I will take a 300 yd shot with my rifle, but only 150 on a handgun shot and then depends on all other factors. Handgun hunting is very addictive, I shot a nice 6 point as my first handgun buck and he is hanging out behind me on the wall. I want to do some predator hunting too, there is a guy on the outdoor channel that handgun hunts for foxes with a .22 magnum revolver, I would like a .223 for predators. Have fun!!
  3. And what happens if by chance these items are hard or impossible to find? I don't think I would leave it to someone else abandoning houses for the items I need. Just my $0.02. It would be pretty easy to make a house seem abandoned, but being watched with a scoped rifle at a great distance and picking off those who happened to be pilfering around.
  4. I was on hwy 111 from Cookeville to Livingston this afternoon and noticed at the Overton county line a flag at half staff, the one at the bank was half staff and the post office was at the top. Sure makes you feel real proud that at least the local people know what to do with the flag at times like these. If anyone can confirm that the owner of the strip mall is going to put up a memorial, it would be great if the TGOers could start a donation fund to help with the cost. Just a thought.
  5.   Please help me understand this. If they are Marines then they did go thru basic training and shoot both rifles and pistols correct?? I would have to argue about the no clue phrase. If they need additional training to carry then train them.
  6. First of all prayers sent to the wounded and the fallen hero's families. Next for all the people questioning the Muslim faith. It is real simple, if a person is a "good Muslim" and lives by the Koran, he/she wants all the infidels which would be everyone not Muslim DEAD!!  This talk about radical Muslim or Islam has really no weight, he is either a good one or not!! I believe that all people have the right to protect themselves from being slaughtered like this. I would hope that the guys in the reserve centers would start packing some heat!!
  7. Sorry NO amazon at this house any longer, they pulled the flag and I will no longer be using them. I have not had the chance to write them a nice letter and tell them to pull up how much I have bought in the last 5 years, but I will pay double to buy it some place else. They can take all their stuff and put it where the sun don't shine!!!
  8. Oh come on guys don't spoil it for 10-ring, everyone needs a money pit to spend all their cash on!! I keep my pontoon in DHL, but take it out a minimum of once each year for a good clean-up.
  9. Sorry to hear this BG, but there are some real hot heads out there everyday. If all of these people would leave 15 minutes earlier they wouldn't all be in such a hurry. I really feel like a lot of the bad drivers are showing how the culture has affected them. Even truck drivers are not courteous like they were 20 years ago or so. Hardly anyone uses their turn signals anymore either.
  10. HAPPY 4TH!!  To all service men and women, THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice that has given us the freedoms we enjoy!!
  11. Congrats Dave, nothing like them. A good looking young man. A guy told me after my first grand child was born, now you know the definition of grand!!
  12. Okay why is it that the left liberals want everyone to be tolerant of each others feelings and such, I guess folks who happen to like a Confederate flag, or a monument with Nathan Bedford Forrest are non people and they should just be treated like dirt. How about treating us as good as the effin illegals coming into the country. Only in Amerika can a kid get sent home for wearing an American flag a Confederate flag, but be celebrated for wearing a Mexican flag?? I don't currently own a Confederate flag, but I will be buying and flying one along with the Gadsden flag "DON'T TREAD ON ME" just leave me alone please.
  13. BIngo Analog_Kidd. You hit the nail on the head. Schools need to start TEACHING kids. I don't know how many of you watch Waters on Bill O'Reilly, but it is sad when he goes on the street with college kids and asks questions like when did Columbus discover America and get answers like 1945!! I figure in 1 or 2 more generations the vast majority won't know how to add 2+2 and get 4 or know much of anything that is useful on a day to day basis. My DIL and son have decided to home school my 2 oldest grandchildren and I couldn't be happier, I know they will be taught the real history as I was taught, plus the fact they can also pray and teach them Godly things along with reading, writing and arithmetic.
  14. Sorry to hear this 45. My SIL is a Baptist preacher and he had a church member who was a WWII vet commit suicide 2 weeks ago. I guess we don't fully understand the sacrifices that are military men and women make for us. We need to be praying for all of them. Be glad you were friends with such a man as this, good friends are hard to come by.
  15. We moved to Tn. last year from Mississippi and as you may know we had a referendum in 2001 to keep the state flag that has a battle flag as part of it and it passed with something like 65% voting for it. I knew people that had never registered to vote and that was enough to get them registered. And btw there were plenty of black voters that voted for it also. For crying out loud it is part of the history of the state. If you don't like it, move to NY, Cali, or Mass. Phil Bryant the governor of Mississippi said he would uphold the referendum that the people had voted for. All of these PC governors and politicians need to be voted out. You can try all you want, but you cannot change history. That is being whittled on by the PC/liberal teachers and the like though. I am not a racist and I don't like being labeled as one just because I happened to be born a white, male that likes guns!! My view is if you don't like looking at a Confederate statue, flag, etc. look the other way!!! There are a lot of things I don't like to see, but you don't see me whining to get it removed from view. I for one am fed up with this crap. And that IS the nice version.

    Gun Rack

Yea but he would need an ammo carrier trailer behind to pull all the ammo. I bet after a few bursts the varmints in his neck of the woods would LEAVE!!!
  17. I saw a show on last night testing the Double tap ammo with 2 projectiles, it had a regular JHP followed by a 50 or so grain flat disc. Has anyone tried reloading anything similar to this? The tests showed pretty good accuracy of both projectiles out to 30 yards. Thanks Mac
  18. For any deer hunters let me tell you that coyotes will cut your deer herd down considerably. I read a few years back a fellow in Ohio put game cameras at 2 coyote dens and in 1 month one female had brought 27 fawns to the den the other had brought 24, not I understand this is second hand info, but can you imagine 51 fawns from 2 coyote bitches in 1 month?? They are just like feral/wild hogs they need to be eliminated to the very last one!!!

    Gun Rack

There are a number of atv/utv mounts for a rifle scabbard. I had a friend that used to see more deer while on his tractor than any other time. I have also shot coyotes and bobcats while on my 4 wheeler.
  20. I have heard that chunks of sponge soaked in cooking oil that has been used such as after frying fish will get the job done. I haven't actually used this method, but have heard of people saying it works.
  21. The "new" price for .22's is going up, just as Ron_Tn alluded about the so called gas shortage in 1973. It sure was mighty suspicious that when gas went to $1.00+ there was all the gas you wanted, prior to that the service stations had lines and their tanks were so low you got trash and water a lot of times. When the manufacturers finally realize that we as consumers will pay a pretty penny to shoot our guns then they will put on some new machines, double the price and bam all the ammo you can buy, which will be 1/2 as much as you could buy prior to all this craziness. I said this many years ago that a gun without sufficient ammo was not even a good club, a baseball bat or golf club is much better when you are out of ammo. My $0.02
  22. I am sure ya'll have thought of this, but this crime happened in the south. All of the other riots were in the north. I really believe that race relations are better in the south for the most part. I really feel for the families of the victims. As for the dirtbag, I think a firing squad or maybe a more gruesome death like that of William Wallace, gut him, quarter him, then decapitate him and put his head on a pole for all the other dirtbags to see. I know this may seem too gruesome for some people, but I am a firm believer that if ever town had a gallows set up and held public hangings that the violent crimes would nose dive.
  23. The news said he used a fully auto gun, but the gunfire that I heard sounded like semi. For sure he was a nut case, they said he was blaming the cops for losing his son. What was very disturbing was a CNN news commentator said the shooter was courageous for attacking the cops. The van was reportedly bought off of E-bay as a zombie attack van.
  24. How about Cowboy Bob Kelly, Luthez and more than I can remember. My grandmother used to start out watching wrestling sitting back on the couch and in a minute or two she was sitting on the edge shouting to the referee that the bad tag team was doing some underhanded thing behind his back. Makes me chuckle how she thought all that was real. My dad said he was at a restaraunt and some wrestlers who were supposedly arch enemies had been out eating together. It is all a big show, I haven't watched it in years in fact Hulk Hogan was wrestling when I quit.
  25. Hey Luke I watch Waters go out and I almost cry because of the stupidity I hear, like when did Columbus discover America and get answers like 1944. There is a remedy to this though and I am proud to say my son and daughter-in-law will start home schooling our 2 oldest grand kids this year. They too are fed up with the crazy common core crap and the history that is not taught. What boils my blood is that the left has somehow gotten the authority to "change" history. It makes as much sense as them thinking they can change the climate, or is it the weight of the money in our wallets that they are really after. I believe it is a simple CONTROL issue and I ain't real good at being controlled, just ask my wife!!
