Merry Christmas to all!!

I was looking at a newer truck and somehow a new one popped up in Knoxville, a new 1/2 ton LTZ chevy for drum roll please $85,000!! I almost choked when I read that. On the topic Randall was talking about the boat and truck, I was looking for a new crappie rig 10 or so years ago and priced one for $11 or 12K and I said I didn't use one that much to justify it. I also said how in the world people can afford to buy these new rigs, the salesman said "we would have been out of business years ago if we were only selling to people who could afford it". Now days most people just want to know what the note is, not really interested in how long they have to pay or what they pay back. As for 130K a lot for a gas burner, my 93 Z-71 has 260K on it and my 97 yukon has 218K.

There ya go, wine in a box!! That saves the need to hunt for the corkscrew.
-
So true K191145 that and the other one in 2012. In a word they SUCK!!!!!!!!! MrsMonkey, when you find yourself without a corkscrew, a good decking screw and a pair of vice grips work nicely. We call that a redneck wine bottle opener. LOL

I have never been to this store, but so many gun stores have a bunch of nuts that are unfriendly and downright rude. I have worked in sales since 1971 and one thing you have to be to be a successful salesman is be friendly!!. I don't expect everyone to know everything, but if you don't know, just say so and find someone who can answer the question.

Ok don't want to start an argument here, but try a Wix oil filter and some lucas oil treatment. How often do you change your oil and what kind do you use. I would recommend Castrol either high mileage or synthetic. Chances are it isn't pistol slap as that would sound more like a knock and not a tick. Drive it like you stole it, but change your oil and filter on a very regular basis.

Hunter orange for squirrel hunting during deer season??
Dirtshooter replied to Dirtshooter's topic in Hunting and Fishing
connair, I read the rules about wearing blaze orange while hunting big game, but I wasn't going to hunt big game. Thanks for all the replies, btw I did wear orange vest and hat and didn't get shot. That was a good thing. -
Hunter orange for squirrel hunting during deer season??
Dirtshooter replied to Dirtshooter's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Thanks guys, I was probably going to wear it for safety sake not necessarily to abide by rules. Sorta like carrying concealed at a job that says you can't, I would rather be alive and fired than dead and abiding by rules. BTW my boss and his wife both carry, so it isn't my job that says I can't!! -
Anyone have a door barricade on their front door?
Dirtshooter replied to Randall53's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I have often wondered about putting in exterior doors that open outward so they have to pull them open, I think that would be a lot harder than kicking them in. You can't just turn door around as the hinge pins would be exposed to outside. -
I don't think I want that job, too many unknowns for me. I still am trying to figure how to approach neighbors and friends about prepping as you can't advertise your intents.

I like my Encore .308 15" pistol, like mp5rizzo said I ain't as mad at deer as I once was. I feel like it is more sporting to shoot them with the pistol. I once read it is 6 times more difficult to accurately shoot a pistol as opposed to rifle. As a matter of fact I usually go under alias Encoreman on most forums, but it was taken here.

Only in Amerika!! Just like this statue is the boogey man and hurt somebody. A bunch of danged idiots is what I say. You can't change history no matter how many statues you destroy or books you burn, but I suppose just like the idiots that say the Holocaust didn't happen, if you wait long enough everyone that knew the truth will be dead and you can bluff the rest of the people. These are some sad times in the U.S. and the bad thing is it didn't just happen yesterday, it has been coming for 50-60 years. It is like the story of how to eat an elephant, 1 bite at a time.

Like Larry the cable guy says " that's funny right there I don't care who you are". She was just wanting to be doubly sure, heck don't throw her under the bus. She was just wanting to be sure!!

Nice to read such stories Bersa. What is the saying that a man that has 2 true friends is rich indeed. Even a half way good friend is hard to find. I am glad you have true friends like this that think enough to lend you a helping hand!! Glad you and your Vietnam buddy got reunited. Thank you both for your service. Oorah!!

I have a question for everyone.
Dirtshooter replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Oh shoot brings up a subject I have thought about a lot lately and that is the neighbors and how they are or are not prepared. It is a hard subject to breech because you don't want to show your hand that says I have food, water, weapons and know how. I know a lot of people in my rural area and I know several hunt and have guns and ammo, water isn't a problem here, there are several head of cattle and lots have chickens and gardens, but beyond that I really don't know how people really feel about preppers. We do have at least 3 nurses within 2 miles and we are out in the sticks. I have always wondered how each of you handle the situation of discussing prepping with your friends and neighbors. -
This is the exact thing that happens when Big brother puts his nose in our business. All this politically correct E.P.A. crap is enough to make a preacher cuss!! All I want is a simple gas can with a vent and I don't want to spend what a decent shotgun costs to do it!!!
-
Thanks and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well. CommsNBombs that is a nice gesture, I hope someone accepts your offer and ya'll have a great time!

As Greg has said a public hanging would be a good start, but I would be inclined to leave it hanging for the buzzards and crows to take care of. I know this would be a good example to any others that may have similar ideas.

Shotgun Penetration Question? (Not what you think it is)
Dirtshooter replied to SourwoodJD's topic in General Chat
Instead of spending money on a barrier, go buy a good 12 volt model with a remote control. Don't even consider putting anyone in FRONT of a person with a loaded gun. Believe me you will have a lot more fun when nobody has to get in FRONT of a loaded gun. Just think of the money spent as good insurance against an injury. -
Just shows ya that the goobermint thinks they can "save" anything. Just leave the clock alone dangitt!!

Thanks Raildog for giving us an insight to what goes on behind the scenes. I have some good friends that worked and retired with Mississippi Export Railroad in south Mississippi. At one time it was the most profitable stretch of rail because of the lines it connected. I wish all the guys and gals good fortune in job hunting or retirement, whichever they choose. I have a lot of friends in the oil industry back in Mississippi that are suffering, some have lost their jobs others had their pay cut 50% just to keep a job. I pray for my friends each day and will put these railroaders on my prayer list as well.

Where's the outrage? Lack of coverage.
Dirtshooter replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
I have read many news reports saying the area was "gripped in fear", well I was concerned, but not gripped in fear, I was however in close proximity to a firearm or 3 that all had grips on them. LOL -

If he is around the lake with all the vacation cabins and houseboats he could be on the lamb for awhile. They should have put the dogs on him in Ky as soon as he hit the woods, rin tin tin would have had him!!! -
