On the edge here in Pickett county we are only about 10 miles south of the Kentucky border. There was ice on my road leftover from Wednesday. For any that absolutely have to travel is get some 1/4 inch cotton rope and go thru your wheels and across your tires in 4 to 6 places, this is as good as a set of chains and won't hurt your vehicle, if you get to a dry piece of road it won't even make noise. That info was passed on from my boss. Be careful out there!!!

Const. Carry Bill brought up today
Dirtshooter replied to CommsNBombs's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You need to correct them and say you are a gun enthusiast. It sounds so much less imposing. I too think the gov't should give us guns and ammo, they give them to everyone else that hasn't even paid any taxes!! -
Isn't that an oxymoron, a friendly IRS agent?? Like someone said get a lawyer set up a trust, let the lawyer collect the "check" and your name and picture isn't plastered over the internet!! I would give most to charities like St. Jude's children's hospital.

How is everyones tomato plants doing this winter.
Dirtshooter replied to K191145's topic in General Chat
I hate to tell the SWAT team or which ever team, you come beating on my door anytime of the day and you will be greeted to the business end of an 870 Rem 12 ga. I know for a fact that I haven't broken any laws so you ain't coming in without a warrant, and then you best be courteous or you may find your A$$ in a crack. I just wish that all the LEO's would make sure that they are at the correct address, a crime has been committed and you have a search warrant. Sorry but I value my simple life too much. I would have sued just for waking me up to those circumstances, you could cause an old person to have a heart attack and die. -
BudsGunShop gun sold to Memphis resident was a stolen gun!
Dirtshooter replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
Same thing I was thinking sounds like a troll on a forum. I don't know any gun owners that would make that statement. Yes they can be very very dangerous and the 5,000 lb. SUV you drive can be pretty dangerous too. Duh come on now. I would like to get the whole story on this. -
Hopefully for his orange jumpsuit for his prison stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are going to put this upside down it looks to me like the angle on the frame would cause a high miss to be deflected, but may just be an optical allusion. I love shooting plates, although they can be intimidating as a miss is hard to figure as opposed to a miss on paper. Looks good, but your shop is way to clean to actually do any work. LOL

Judge Jeanine: Stop blaming guns; start shooting terrorists
Dirtshooter replied to Ron_TN's topic in General Chat
I think she would make a great VP or Sec of State. I would hate to have that woman mad at me!! -
I personally don't give a blank, fill in the blank with your favorite curse word, what Hussein says or does!! I lost all my firearms in a boating accident years ago and I can't afford to buy anymore. I just get on here to be around folks who still own those evil killing machines, that used to be known as guns!!

150 Somalian Muslim Workers Fired From Colorado Meat Packing Plant
Dirtshooter replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
Nice to know some ragheads may be cutting up the meat we eat. I guess we need to just stick to pork as they will supposedly flee from it. Some liberals say oh there are good Muslims to which I say really. Have you ever heard of a Muslim hospital, or when some disaster strikes have you ever seen them open up a Mosque so people could be comforted with a dry, warm place to stay with food and such?? I certainly haven't, but you can bet your last dollar that the Baptists, Methodist and other Christian churches happily open their doors to take in "all" who need a helping hand. Think on this awhile and please respond if you can come up with 1 selfless act of LOVE a Muslim mosque or community has done. I will give you a year. -
Wishing everyone a safe and prosperous New Year!!

I am going to have to argue with some of this. In 1966 the average wage was $6900 and my dad bought a brand new chevy truck for $1495 and taking these figures he could have bought 4.62 trucks with the money he made. Now fast forward to 2015, average wage is $41,000, now go buy 4.62 chevy trucks with that $41,000 and take pics of them for us.

I worked in the petroleum business for 34 years and I believe that the U.S. oil companies have been perfectly okay with using up more and more of the rest of the worlds oil reserves. I have some good friends that have either lost their job, had their pay cut up to 50% and they are hurting. I don't care if you make $20K or $100K a 50% pay cut hurts. And I am currently trying to sell a house in that environment, how lucky I am!!

Way more info than I really need!! Runco I feel for ya bro' I too had my gall bladder out.

I remember years ago that most states had labels on the gas pumps that gave the federal and state tax figures. I think they quit it so people wouldn't come apart at the seams when they read it.
-
Congrats to all who gave one or got one. As I was reading I was trying to remember if I ever got a gun for Christmas and don't recall. I have given my kids and grandkids and wife quite a few though, at last count about 12. But who's counting. LOL I must admit I have never had anyone "return" one of my gun gifts.

Merry Christmas to ya'll. Be safe and wishing you a Happy and prosperous New Year, and a New Republican POTUS!!

I was looking at a newer truck and somehow a new one popped up in Knoxville, a new 1/2 ton LTZ chevy for drum roll please $85,000!! I almost choked when I read that. On the topic Randall was talking about the boat and truck, I was looking for a new crappie rig 10 or so years ago and priced one for $11 or 12K and I said I didn't use one that much to justify it. I also said how in the world people can afford to buy these new rigs, the salesman said "we would have been out of business years ago if we were only selling to people who could afford it". Now days most people just want to know what the note is, not really interested in how long they have to pay or what they pay back. As for 130K a lot for a gas burner, my 93 Z-71 has 260K on it and my 97 yukon has 218K.

There ya go, wine in a box!! That saves the need to hunt for the corkscrew.
-
So true K191145 that and the other one in 2012. In a word they SUCK!!!!!!!!! MrsMonkey, when you find yourself without a corkscrew, a good decking screw and a pair of vice grips work nicely. We call that a redneck wine bottle opener. LOL

I have never been to this store, but so many gun stores have a bunch of nuts that are unfriendly and downright rude. I have worked in sales since 1971 and one thing you have to be to be a successful salesman is be friendly!!. I don't expect everyone to know everything, but if you don't know, just say so and find someone who can answer the question.

Ok don't want to start an argument here, but try a Wix oil filter and some lucas oil treatment. How often do you change your oil and what kind do you use. I would recommend Castrol either high mileage or synthetic. Chances are it isn't pistol slap as that would sound more like a knock and not a tick. Drive it like you stole it, but change your oil and filter on a very regular basis.

Hunter orange for squirrel hunting during deer season??
Dirtshooter replied to Dirtshooter's topic in Hunting and Fishing
connair, I read the rules about wearing blaze orange while hunting big game, but I wasn't going to hunt big game. Thanks for all the replies, btw I did wear orange vest and hat and didn't get shot. That was a good thing.
