  1. Tercel I am assuming you took the "office" shot while stopped in the middle of a street or highway huh? As taking a picture is as dangerous as texting while driving!!! Of course I don't see any vehicles in the shot. Just kidding, thanks for your service and be safe out there with all the "great" drivers we have. I can't imagine having to deal with all the knotheads you do on a daily basis.
  2. Well it has finally stopped snowing for the moment, we have at least 11.5 closer to 12 on the ground. Power went off at 12:30 this morning and stayed off until 8:15 but we kept temp inside at a balmy 60 degrees with the Ashley wood heater. I am really looking for the power to go off again as I see lots of cedar trees with limbs touching the ground or snow on the ground. I only worry about the 13-15 degree forecast for tonight and keeping my pipes from busting. Ya'll be safe out there and stay warm. See my post in survival for some fails in my preparation plans.
  3. Good morning all. Well we have 11.5 inches of snow and it is still snowing. The power went off at 12:30 and with ashley wood heater we managed to maintain 60 degrees inside with 22 outside. We have had some fails, my buddy propane heater won't stay lit, out propane coleman stove won't work. We made coffee with the little pocket propane stove like the hikers use, it works like a champ. The power came back on at 8:15 and we hope it stays on. Hope everyone stays warm and safe. There will be some additions to the preps when this is over.
  4. We have at least 9.5 here and still slightly coming down. I too have had my fill, want sunshine and shorts and a fishing rod in my hand!!
  5. Ok a cord is 4'x4'x8', a rick or face cord is 16"x4'x8'. If buying it by the rick or cord, make sure it is what advertised. 1 long wheel base truck will haul maybe 1.5 to 2 ricks if stacked good and fairly high.
  6. Had to look for a snowmobile for sale and there are 2 in Knoxville. Thought it funny, surprised any this far south. And no I ain't in the market for one. However you could use one right now.
  7. Yes but only use the nice white snow, no yellow snow!!
  8. Hi all, hope you stay safe and warm with this ugly weather. This may help any preppers to see what they may have needed and didn't have. I have been snow bound here just 10 miles south of Ky. border and was planning on going into work this morning as our country road has been ice for 2 days. Well we are low on bottled water, but pretty good on food. We shall see when this is over how we did.
  9. On the edge here in Pickett county we are only about 10 miles south of the Kentucky border. There was ice on my road leftover from Wednesday. For any that absolutely have to travel is get some 1/4 inch cotton rope and go thru your wheels and across your tires in 4 to 6 places, this is as good as a set of chains and won't hurt your vehicle, if you get to a dry piece of road it won't even make noise. That info was passed on from my boss. Be careful out there!!!
  10. You need to correct them and say you are a gun enthusiast. It sounds so much less imposing. I too think the gov't should give us guns and ammo, they give them to everyone else that hasn't even paid any taxes!!
  11. Isn't that an oxymoron, a friendly IRS agent?? Like someone said get a lawyer set up a trust, let the lawyer collect the "check" and your name and picture isn't plastered over the internet!! I would give most to charities like St. Jude's children's hospital.
  12. I hate to tell the SWAT team or which ever team, you come beating on my door anytime of the day and you will be greeted to the business end of an 870 Rem 12 ga. I know for a fact that I haven't broken any laws so you ain't coming in without a warrant, and then you best be courteous or you may find your A$$ in a crack. I just wish that all the LEO's would make sure that they are at the correct address, a crime has been committed and you have a search warrant. Sorry but I value my simple life too much. I would have sued just for waking me up to those circumstances, you could cause an old person to have a heart attack and die.
  13. Same thing I was thinking sounds like a troll on a forum. I don't know any gun owners that would make that statement. Yes they can be very very dangerous and the 5,000 lb. SUV you drive can be pretty dangerous too. Duh come on now. I would like to get the whole story on this.
  14. Hopefully for his orange jumpsuit for his prison stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. If you are going to put this upside down it looks to me like the angle on the frame would cause a high miss to be deflected, but may just be an optical allusion. I love shooting plates, although they can be intimidating as a miss is hard to figure as opposed to a miss on paper. Looks good, but your shop is way to clean to actually do any work. LOL
  16. I think she would make a great VP or Sec of State. I would hate to have that woman mad at me!!
  17. I personally don't give a blank, fill in the blank with your favorite curse word, what Hussein says or does!! I lost all my firearms in a boating accident years ago and I can't afford to buy anymore. I just get on here to be around folks who still own those evil killing machines, that used to be known as guns!!
  18. Nice to know some ragheads may be cutting up the meat we eat. I guess we need to just stick to pork as they will supposedly flee from it. Some liberals say oh there are good Muslims to which I say really. Have you ever heard of a Muslim hospital, or when some disaster strikes have you ever seen them open up a Mosque so people could be comforted with a dry, warm place to stay with food and such?? I certainly haven't, but you can bet your last dollar that the Baptists, Methodist and other Christian churches happily open their doors to take in "all" who need a helping hand. Think on this awhile and please respond if you can come up with 1 selfless act of LOVE a Muslim mosque or community has done. I will give you a year.
  19. Wishing everyone a safe and prosperous New Year!!
  20. I am going to have to argue with some of this. In 1966 the average wage was $6900 and my dad bought a brand new chevy truck for $1495 and taking these figures he could have bought 4.62 trucks with the money he made. Now fast forward to 2015, average wage is $41,000, now go buy 4.62 chevy trucks with that $41,000 and take pics of them for us.
  21. I worked in the petroleum business for 34 years and I believe that the U.S. oil companies have been perfectly okay with using up more and more of the rest of the worlds oil reserves. I have some good friends that have either lost their job, had their pay cut up to 50% and they are hurting. I don't care if you make $20K or $100K a 50% pay cut hurts. And I am currently trying to sell a house in that environment, how lucky I am!!
  22. Way more info than I really need!! Runco I feel for ya bro' I too had my gall bladder out.
  23. I remember years ago that most states had labels on the gas pumps that gave the federal and state tax figures. I think they quit it so people wouldn't come apart at the seams when they read it.
  24. Congrats to all who gave one or got one. As I was reading I was trying to remember if I ever got a gun for Christmas and don't recall. I have given my kids and grandkids and wife quite a few though, at last count about 12. But who's counting. LOL I must admit I have never had anyone "return" one of my gun gifts.
  25. Merry Christmas to ya'll. Be safe and wishing you a Happy and prosperous New Year, and a New Republican POTUS!!
