  1. Yea and add to this probably multiple issues like the one near me. About 10 days ago a neighbor of mine found another neighbor lying in his kitchen floor, emt arrived, had to get deputy to break window in front door for entry, this started around 6 and at 9:30 left with the body. I contacted the emt whom I thought was the medical examiner and explained that deceased neighbor had guns and door wasn't secured, he gave me the deputies name and number as he was the investigator. I called and told the same to the deputy and he didn't seem too concerned. I am tempted to call the Attorney generals office and make this known to them. As I told deputy I just don't want these guns of at least 5 or 6 that I know of falling into the wrong hands. What are your comments on this matter?? Btw this neighbor lived alone. Next of kin lives in N.C. and to my knowledge has not arrived at this house yet. Sorry not meant to steal thread.
  2. Just throwing this out for discussion on how you feel about the upcoming 2020 mandated Real I.D. Drivers license?
  3. Yea I bet that would work real good on the 2 lane that I drive daily. Have had the knotheads and I used the nice word have all 4 of their tires on my side of the double yellow in a curve. Just as always when seconds or milliseconds count the LEO is 30 minutes away. They cannot enforce this law and it is very similar to the 18th amendment to the constitution banning alcohol. You know what that law did?? It made people go underground so to speak in places called speak easies. It made the Kennedy clan rich from the Canadian whiskey. What it didn't do is keep Americans from drinking alcohol. You cannot make enough laws that mandate peoples actions. It will not work.
  4. So sad to even read about this. I can't imagine what the families are going thru. Prayers for all concerned, and the death penalty to be carried out in the morning at dawn after a short trial as he has admitted it.
  5. For quite awhile I wished the phones would be programmed to not work while in a vehicle. No text, no talk, no gps, no nothing. People are poorer drivers because of all the devices, heck I have seen knotheads watching movies while driving. It is dangerous enough out there if people are paying attention. Then add to this the idiots that are drinking or high on dope and driving.
  6. That is a fact. There isn't enough LEO to enforce it. I see truck drivers all the time talking on a phone, saw a dump truck driver doing it today. CDL holders were not to use a hand held for quite awhile. I am wondering if this will apply to LEO also??
  7. By raising the rates on boat registrations for 1. Probably something else will go up also.
  8. Pretty much any city that is run by a bunch of Democrats!! Not that politics has anything to do with it, just seems like anywhere Democrats are in power this sort of thing is old hat. Take Detroit, D.C., L.A., Memphis, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Birmingham, St. Louis. For almost half a century the 3 most violent cities have had uninterrupted Democrat control. Go figure??
  9. Sorry to hear that Greg, my BIL had it near an eye and it gave him fits. I think a very large dose of Gentleman Jack taken with just a smidge of 7up and you will be on your way!! LOL I just had to add some humor to this. Praying you get better sir.
  10. He was a tough old bird. Yes sir that whole generation were tough birds. My wife's uncle is 94 and was in the Navy in South Pacific. Lost a good friend about 2 years ago that was a survivor of the Bataan death march. We only have a handful of these WWII vets left. If you know one, go out of your way to stop in and see him or her and thank them.
  11. You know that this isn't the same world we grew up in. From about the 2nd grade on I carried a pocket knife or knives to school each day and I don't recall stabbing or cutting 1 single person. About 13 years ago I was working in the oilfield and my boss had sent these 2 fairly new guys out to install a chemical tank and we used a poly tubing that is easily cut with even a dull knife. Well it took them much longer than it should have and when the truth came out, neither had a knife on them. I told my boss each new hire or better an applicant needed to be asked to show a knife. That way you can cull out the knotheads!!
  12. Greg surely that's not that junky old boat I sold you is it?? I too love Youtube, it has saved me many headaches and $$$$$.
  13. How true Doug, it will only take a generation that doesn't teach the next generation to honor our vet's for this day to be a forgotten day. of just a good day for some store to have a so-called sale!! That is one reason that General Eisenhower made sure that many movies and pictures were taken of WWII Holocaust victims and the prisons because he said "One day they will say it never happened". I think that day has come.
  14. Yep people assume that they will be right back in an hour or so, but you never know. Just the other day a good friend of mine who I thought was smart had a flat tire coming back from church one night and didn't have a flashlight. When he told me I asked if he had one in his car now and he said yes. I probably have 2 or 3 in most of my vehicles and have a streamlight in my pocket. When I first started carrying a streamlight I couldn't believe how handy it was on almost a daily basis. You never know when today will be the day you need what you have in your pockets.
  15. Well at least it would keep you occupied for sure. Thanks for taking your time and doing this!!
  16. Ok Greg, my daughter who is a bible scholar said yes because we were all made in His image, but medically not needed because Adam was made from dust. We are awaiting the Dr's answer.
  17. Greg I will have to ask my SIL who is a Baptist preacher with a doctorate in theology and get back to you whenever I get an answer. My Daughter and family went last year and really liked it.
  18. Hey John sorry to be so long in thanking you for putting on a great class. To all who want to know about wild edibles, John is the man. However I did learn 1 valuable thing. You do know that vegetarian is an old Indian word for "poor hunter". I learned to find some wild carrots and sit there waiting for a wascally wabit to appear and shoot and eat him!! LOL I am afraid I would starve to death waiting to find something to eat. But all jokes aside go to one of John's classes if nothing else meeting a really good man.
  19. Just watched it Greg, thought it was a pretty good movie.
  20. Prayers for her and your family.
  21. Our infrastructure was mostly built to last 50 years ago and much of that is 75 years old or older. Thanks to the U.S. being so generous with our tax dollars giving to every country on the planet instead of keeping up with our infrastructure. Not to mention the thanks we get for giving billions of dollars to say Honduras, Argentina, Columbia, Guatemala, Mexico.
  22. He would take his birth certificate, but it is inscribed on a huge rock, because he was born in the stone age. LOL I couldn't resist Doug!!
  23. Chuck that would be a reason not to come, clipping your toenails. LOL I asked a few retired, bachelor neighbors about going fishing and I swear one of them told me Saturday was his wash day. Now I am not a slob, but really you are retired, live by yourself and you can't wait a few days to do the washing. I am scratching those 2 for asking about fishing. If I didn't know them better I would say they didn't like me.
  24. That's funny right there, I don't care who you are. Never, ever let a chance to make fun of Yankee's go untouched. LOL Current transplants not included, if you behave. LOL
  25. Hey John with the way this weather is going, we may be in prime Morel mushroom hunting weather. If you know of good place to look for them that would be a bonus. Can't wait to go to this class, all of the previous classes I had other comittments.
