  1. blah, blah, blah. Lead is a naturally occurring element. As stated above, most birds that die of lead poisoning were shot. Carbon monoxide is also naturally occurring and if you get into a room or cave that has 100% carbon monoxide you will probably die!! Just saying. Are raptors like bald eagles more lead intolerant than buzzards???
  2. You got to figure that is west Tennessee also. Short story from years ago, a friend was deer hunting in the Mississippi Delta and it was bitterly cold. He went out and it was icy so he opted not to get into his ladder stand and instead sat on the ground, he kept seeing something out in front of him and couldn't quite make it out, he finally got up and walked over and it was a big rattlesnake so he killed it. Btw it ain't illegal in Ms. So he is cold and decided to go back to the camp and after a few steps he thinks to himself if there is 1 snake out I better watch my step, he killed 3 or 4 more on the way back to the camp, his father didn't go that morning and he said boy either you missed a bunch or we are going to be skinning deer all day, he reached into his pocket and dropped the rattles on the table. Btw he said ice was spewed out of the ground. Moral to the story, no matter the weather, watch where you walk and sit!!
  3. Went deer scouting yesterday and tree rats must be planning for a hard winter because I found very few nuts, bunches of hulls though.
  4. Hi all, found this link thought you may find it eye opening. To moderators if this is in wrong category please move it. Thanks Mac https://conservativefiringline.com/us-is-not-highest-in-mass-shootings-liberals-take-note/
  5. Ronald that ain't even funny. But could be true considering all the stuff going on these days. I am going to post the link in general chat about the left skewing how they report like the U.S. is not #1 but #66 in the world for mass shootings. You all probably know for years most if not all of the states have lower numbers of hunters, this kind of shows the change in things.
  6. Hey I found a 1964 one if anyone wants to look. http://cartridgecollectors.org/content/catalogs/PETERS/Peters Catalogs/1964-Peters-2 Jan-Wholesale PL.pdf
  7. Just for remembering the Good ole days. LOL I recall in about 1963 going to the western auto store and buying .22 shorts for $0.39, I was 11 at the time and nobody asked what the heck an 11 year old boy was doing buying dangerous ammunition!! I also carried a knife to school probably from about 3rd grade until today.
  8. Hi guys, was browsing and ran across this thought some of you would find it eye opening. Just a few tidbits. 30-30 retail $3.95, 30-06 retail $5.00, .300 win mag retail $6.30. .22 short retail $0.70, 22LR retail $0.85 and .22 match was a whopping $1.30. Here is the link http://cartridgecollectors.org/content/catalogs/PETERS/Peters Catalogs/1965-Peters-4 Jan-Wholesale PL.pdf
  9. I would not be at all surprised it they didn't add a "special" hunting season!! I am still in shock that the TWRA charges people who are blind, in wheel chairs and disabled vets to hunt and fish. Albeit the charge is $10 for life, I think that is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Just my opinion.
  10. Hey Greg, just curious but do you gather them and eat them? Or were you just noticing there wasn't many? I was looking online and several people say the shagbark or we called them scaly bark hickory have the best tasting nuts. Got some closeby and going to try some.
  11. Looks like a new book to read. Yea I have read a lot of accounts where the victim was stunned for a time before their brain engaged and said hey dummy it's you or the bad guy, which shall it be.
  12. Pretty cool, I too would like to know the story behind the lighter. I often think about all those men that died or were injured for life in that far away land that I don't think we had a dog in that hunt. I was planning on an Air Force career, but my heart wasn't in that police action and I had a high draft number. But I do salute all those that went either volunteer or draft. Thank you guys and gals for your service to this Great country!!
  13. Hey Greg I happened to go for a stroll in the woods this morning and the ground was covered with acorns and hickory nuts. Your trees may not produce much this year or the tree rats got them already. Just happened to think about your thread.
  14. I saw reviews a guy said it ran great in his PMR-30 and another in a Browning A-bolt rifle. Thought I would pass along the good pricing.
  15. Hey guys I saw on ammoseek this morning .40 gr Armscor 22wmr nickel plated for $58.99 for 500 rounds, have good reviews. That is 11.8 cents each plus shipping. Surplus ammo is the retailer.
  16. Speaking of golf just how many golf clubs does one need to only hit 1 ball????? According to the USGA a golfer is entitled to no more than 14 clubs. Most golfers have at least 2 sets so that is 28 clubs. Now if you have less than 28 guns I say you should go get more!! And all those clubs to hit 1 ball, if you don't put it into the woods or water you can keep using that 1 ball for a whole year!! And we have to shoot all those many thousands of bullets with just 1 gun? That doesn't seem right does it??
  17. Thanks Huhgd, you know it is pretty bad when we can't trust load data manuals. I can understand some bad data from the 'net but this is crazy. That is why I stopped after the chrono gave me higher fps than the max load was showing. I may be contacting some load manual people to see if they can steer me to the correct data.
  18. They will tear up your yard like a bunch of hogs will. Shoot them at will. We had them in Mississippi, haven't seen any up here yet and that is good with me. We haven't seen any fire ants either and certainly don't want them at all!!!
  19. Thanks Bill, I am very cautious about reloading and don't believe anything I hear and not much I see. As evidence of what my Speer manual showed. If anybody has access to other reloading manuals and see something different, let me know. I don't want to pull these loaded rounds apart, but I surely will.
  20. All the squirrels around here may have come over and got them.
  21. Must sell slow, just looked and it was 3813.
  22. Hi guys, I have been loading 10mm for awhile using 800-x powder, but recently got some AA#7 to load some .357 and saw some load data for 10mm. The question I have is my Speer #12 manual lists AA#7 11.0 gr start with a 1065FPS, 12.0 max at 1180FPS using 180 gold dot bullet. The test gun was a 5" S&W 1006 pistol according to book. So I load up several rounds using 11.0-12.0 in .2gr increments and head to the chronograph. Only difference I used 180 gr Hornady XTP bullets and fired from a S&W 610 revolver 3.875 and shooting the start load of 11.0 I fired 3 shots 1266, 1275, 1260FPS. The primers looked ok, but I quit shooting because my speed was close to 80FPS over what they showed with a 12.0 max load. Anyone have any data or has shot this load? I am developing this as a deer round in case I get one into bow range. Thanks for any info, I have searched quite a bit on the net. I would rather not blow up my 610 and prefer leaving the range with all the fingers and toes I came there with.
  23. Apparently they are elected to become multi-millionaires by doing absolutely NO WORK!!
  24. Since I have only lived in Tn. for 5 years would someone enlighten me on why they use TBI instead of FBI for background checks?? Seems the Federal system would have more information on a person, regardless if they are a felon or not. Plus in my previous state of Mississippi the background check was FREE!!
  25. My pastor told me about this last Thursday and I forgot to add it to the sight. Believe it or not there is already somebody that is opposing this. I believe that this is a very commendable thing that our Governor is going to proclaim. For those that don't believe in prayer, then make it like any other day. But for the majority that believe in prayer, I am happy to say to people from outside the state that our Governor has seen that God answers prayers. One of my favorite verses is 2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Folks I truly believe that part of the reason that all of the school shootings have taken place is because we allowed the liberal left to basically ban God from our schools. Won't you join in praying for our state and country? This great country is full of hate right now, and the only thing to combat hate is Love.
