  1. I see all these guys asking what is the best SHTF gun if you could have 1, well that would be it!! You can kill small game, doves, quail when there were some, turkeys, ducks, geese, deer, hogs, bear. And it would probably keep 2 legged vermin at bay as well.
  2. You know I should have learned after 49+ years of marriage training to keep my mouth shut. I have really messed up so many times from having an opportunity to be quiet, but didn't. I meant no disrespect Garufa, I always thought the 30-30 was the first smokeless cartridge also. Just having fun, sorry to bring out into the open your entire life being a lie!! LOL
  3. Well that isn't exactly true. It was the USA's first smokeless cartridge. In 1886 Paul Vieille invented smokeless gunpowder and the 8x50mmr Lebel round known as the 8x51 Lebel was first adopted round by a country. But I thought the 30-30 was first also. I think the 8x50 mmR which the R stands for rimmed was basically obsolete after WWI. I also found that every 3-5 years Fiocchi made some in the past. I have always said have guns chambered in calibers that you can go into any LGS or country store and buy some.
  4. Hi guys & gals. I am by no means an authority on this, and almost missed this. The August 1895 Winchester catalog #55 seems to be the first time the .30WCF was mentioned. WCF standing for Winchester Center Fire, AKA 30-30. This was first debuted in the model 1894 Winchester. John Marlin adapted his model 1893 to shoot this new cartridge and it seems his was the first time it was referred to as the 30-30. The inaugural factory loads were 160 gr. bullet at about 1900 fps. Just thought as much as the 30-30 has done for hunting, we should all be reminded. The 30-30 has probably killed some of all of North America's game including Bison, large bears, elk and is best suited for whitetail deer.
  5. Welcome. The very best way to keep your neighbors happy is to invite them to come and shoot with you.
  6. Had a minute this morning and checked and some online site had 9mm 115gr fmj $529.99 for 500 rounds, that's right $1.05998 each. That is very close to $1.06 each. That is crazy priced!!!
  7. I will post something a little different, I have a neighbor whom I won't name that has been looking for a Keltec PMR-30 for a few months. He bought an extra mag for it and now can't find the gun. I told him to invite all his friends over and instead of an Easter egg hunt, we will have a search for the PMR. Winner gets something nice for finding it. Oh I did find a coffee can, yes I said can full of .45acp brass, and I sold my .45 to a friend so I guess the friend gets the brass, had it stuck behind some ammo cans.
  8. Listen up folks. The #1 reason the Feds are telling you to have this stuff, is because they ain't going to bring you none of this for a long, long time. Every man for himself. Sort of like you having a spare tire, jack and lug wrench in your vehicle.
  9. Rab, it boils down to people that were not prepared, as in they didn't have the components at their house to load what they were planning on shooting in the next 6 months. I haven't purchased any primers, powder, bullets since about 2014 or so. Just picked a box of spp off the shelf dated 2-2012. If you are going to shoot with any regularity, you need to have either the factory made ammo or the components to load your own. It is that simple. We gun owners are sometimes our worst enemy. It's like this, something happens to trigger a rush of the stores, we may be sitting on thousands of loaded rounds or thousands of primers, but we go Hey go buy some more _______. It has been especially bad this time. I heard if President Trump wins it will be next spring before you start seeing stock on the shelves and next fall before the prices start to drop. If Biden wins, start stockpiling ball bearings to shoot in a slingshot!!
  10. Yea and I was on ammoseek just looking and saw magtech 124 fr for $0.52999 per round, and they only had 3K in stock.
  11. Yes it really is and is what I started with. My pastor is one of my shooting buddies and after burning a couple of boxes of 9mm in his carry gun, he usually ends up shooting .38's in my .357 or .40 S&W in my S&W 610. Cheap shooting is what I am all about.
  12. And then pick another caliber, and another, and before you know it you won't have any store bought ammo!! Just an FYI on Tuesday in about 5 hours not rushing and that was including eating supper I loaded 1,075 .38 special.
  13. Yea available and cheap are foreign words in this environment. Btw that was reman ammo that I can make for about $3.00
  14. I have a Uniflow not sure how old is older style. I have had mine since Bill & Al were in office. But I like mine, once you get it adjusted right it will do fine for plinking up to pretty good hunting ammo. I use a trickler for my hunting ammo, mainly because I don't shoot that much of it.
  15. I had to make a comment before someone else did. I don't know your scale setup, but I finally put my 10-10 scale at eye level as I was getting a crick in my neck leaning down a bit to look at scale pointer. That helped me a lot for doing my hunting ammo.
  16. I happened to notice you are reloading in the baby's room?? Going to start junior early huh?? Yea I am like Greg, this is way too clean. If I go to reload, first thing is to clean off all the clutter, then get out the dies I want to use.
  17. I have contended for a long while, everyone entering the country either eats a pork chop or a BLT. If you refuse, put back on plane or boat for return trip!!!
  18. Ok but it still was a fake testing to make it appear worse than it is. The point being whomever did this was trying to skew the appearance that this is so bad we need to shut down the world. This is my opinion only, but I don't see how this nation and probably the world can keep from getting into a very deep economic depression. Also can we trust all the fact checkers? Like Snopes=nopes!! We are pretty much at the mercy of the media outlets. Like the old saying believe nothing you hear and only part of what you see..
  19. Yea but if you get the Chinese 2019 flu, it makes headline news and people make money out of it. I saw a youtube video yesterday and it showed a segment where CBS faked a testing station that had a long line in it, they weren't testing they were just making it look worse. IMHO this is the culmination of lots of money and time trying to bring this nation down. Let's shut down all the Essential businesses, and all the non-essential people can go jump off a cliff I suppose. Bunch of hogwash. There are more abortions each day than this stuff has killed and why aren't those abortions listed under "murder"?? Think on that awhile.
  20. He bought too many packs of cookies once years ago, and now she can't trust him!!
  21. If you leave the door shut long enough they will multiply to the point when you open the door they pop out!! They prefer a little quiet dark place to multiply.
  22. I have a neighbor that put some pretty serious mud tires on his because he was slipping all the time.
  23. I have been saying for years that would be a sport to reduce the numbers of the critters and have fun at the same time. Rednecks will find a way to somehow involve a gun into a sport or make a new one. LOL
  24. Good deal, kill all of them if you have the chance. 1 critter I have no use for because of the damage to the mountains and diseases. As for a .22lr. will kill anything on this planet if put in the right spot. Several years ago when Ted Nugent was letting someone kill a Buffalo at his Michigan ranch the fellow was shooting a 7mm magnum and at 75 or 80 yards shot one broadside, Ted said shoot him again, 1 more broadside, buffalo didn't flinch, Ted said shoot him again, on the 3rd shot you could see the steam come out and he rocked him. Later in the day I was watching another hunting show and they were hunting buffalo out west and the guide asked the hunter if he knew where to shoot him and then said right behind the ear, he was shooting a smaller caliber .243 or 7mm-08 by the sound of it, he shot and the buffalo's lights went out. Another if you put it in the right place, dirt nap.
  25. Scared you pretty good though didn't it???
