  1. Should have reversed it and fly it upside down, because we are in Distress!!!
  2. Hi all, I ran across this and thought some may find it informative. https://www.shootingtimes.com/editorial/38-special-200-grain-police-load/387763
  3. Just saw this. On Sunday 2-14 about 8pm we lost some power, heat pump went off, sounded like a truck hit the house. Went out with flashlight can't see anything wrong. Long story short huge white pine limb fell across vacant house across the road, and our house and that house was attached to same transformer, it puller both of their wires off and 1 of our hot legs. About 4:30 a.m. monday everyone in neighborhood lost power until about 2pm. I shut off main breaker after talking to a guy that said may not be good for our electrical system. We have fireplace with insert and it has 2 blowers on it, I already had generator sitting on back porch with extension cords because I didn't want to have to go get it out of barn in middle of a ice/snow event. The generator had 2.4 hours when I cranked it up and would shut it off when I refueled it, Saturday morning 2-20 about 9 am we got power back, generator had 100.5 hours on it. Yea we could have done without it, but I kept the downstairs between 60-64 and upstairs around 50. That was when outside temps were 15-17 degrees. Just a tip for everyone that lives in an all electric house, get a auxiliary heat source, a floor mounted propane heater, long enough hose to keep tank outside and at least a 100lb. cylinder. They pull too much to run good on the 20lb barbecue tanks per my propane store. Be safe out there and be prepared, it will happen again, may be 2 years, 5 years or next week.
  4. No sir Beltfed I didn't buy any primers from you. I am still working on some from 2007 and 2012.
  5. Looking at this situation from my side of the fence, I see the ammo mfgs. are wanting to make the ammo today and put it on the truck either today or first thing in the morning. They do not want to warehouse 1 case more than they can sell the next day. I understand a part of that, but do they ever look at the trending data, before an election the buyers get antsy and will purchase more than usual. That goes for completed ammo and reloading components. Now I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I think I would have started slowly building stockpiles of both the loaded ammo and the reloading components. But what do I know?? BTW I did.
  6. You my friend are very optimistic. I wouldn't guarantee anyone they would see powder, primers for a few years if ever. I certainly hope you are correct.
  7. Greg what powder are you looking for? I may go shooting Friday and the range has some supplies at times.
  8. There you go David, but the catch is they are $50.00 each primer. LOL Sorry Beltfed didn't mean to steal your thunder.
  9. Gregg the line crew that fixed mine yesterday said the 7,200 volt lines are supposed to have a 20 foot on either side of blue sky. The lines from transformer to your house are supposed to be 10 foot on either side of blue sky. There is a cedar limb about 2 foot over my line and main line there are trees withing 3 feet. I will be taking some pictures and meeting with the UCEMC manager after the power is restored and let him know.
  10. Thanks Greg for the offer, and yes great pic of your place. Electricity update, we got power back on this morning around 9a.m. when I started the gennie on Monday 4:30a.m. it had 2.4 hours on it, I have had it 2 years btw, when I shut it off this morning it had 100.5 hours. We probably on had 5 inches total snow in the 2 storms, maybe 3/8" ice. In 2014 winter we had 14" stacked up in our back yard. I took a 2x2 and screwed it to a 2x8 and put marks on it with marker where I could look out and not have to guess how much snow we had. I have seen plenty of snow in my days and it may be pretty, but it wears off real quick. I ask that everyone that is a praying person, say a prayer for those without power and for all those guys that are working hard in some nasty cold conditions to get it back on line ASAP. As of this morning UCEMC had 3,000 houses in Overton county and 5,000 in Putnam county without power.
  11. Well as Bersaguy said, we are still without power, maybe tomorrow IF this new storm doesn't hinder the repairs. We are camping out in place, the fireplace insert has kept it around 62-64 when outside it was 15. Only downside is no hot water without heating on gas stove. Starting to get cabin fever, anyone want to referee?? Ya'll stay safe, stay off ice, need no broke hips.
  12. I could have used them ice cleats about 6:30 this morning when I went to feed and water the chickens. The gravel walkway was an icy death trap. I pussy footed it back to get better boots and got the ice melt off of the porch plus my walking stick. I don't need my old bones to take a break a hip fall.
  13. Sorry if this offends anyone, but I suspect there are people in Hell wanting some water NOW. I would like to have a few million dollars NOW, but that probably won't happen either.
  14. There is a greenhouse/grower in my area that says there are some apple varieties that are less susceptible to the cedar problem. I say cut those invasive cedar tree's down, all of them would be great start for me. I know ya'll wonder how I really feel about cedar tree's huh? Ours did too last 2 years got a dry dusty stuff on the leaves. I try to rotate my veggies in the beds as much as possible. Have had trouble with squash borers last few years also.
  15. Why not, I will tell you why. Whenever a gun guy sees a box of ammo, his first thought is I MUST have this. Takes it home and trys to find a place to put it, because his ammo stash needs a separate Zipcode. Granted it sounds good to let things settle down, but most folks don't have the willpower.
  16. Isn't it amazing what a year will do to prices. My pastor bought a case of 9mm at Smoky Mountain Knife works in 2019 for $179 and his wife asked him "do you really need all that ammo" to which his reply was that is a good price and I like to shoot. And nowadays I see a case going for $1,000. I told him to remind his wife what a good shopper he was!
  17. Well I may have to rethink the hazelnut bushes then, you know your perspective of things that happened 40+ years ago are sometimes tainted with rose colored glasses.
  18. USPS won't work tomorrow, President's day, formerly Washington's birthday. But we can't celebrate the first president anymore!!!
  19. Hey guys/gals I have been putting of starting an asparagus bed, but this is the year. We got a Burgess seed catalog a few weeks ago and I have done a little scouring the pages for some new things. I think I am also going to plant 2 or maybe 4 Hazlenut bushes. Funny thing a Hazlenut and filbert are the same thing, I don't understand why we need to words. Many, many moons ago when I was a kid in central Illinois we had a bush that was wild and produced a bunch of nuts. We planted apple and peach tree's last year. You know the saying the best time to plant fruit trees was about 8-10 years ago, the next best time is today. Hope everyone has a great gardening experience this year. I'm continuing with our raised beds, we have about 14 beds mostly 4x8 some a little longer. I wish I had done that 40+ years ago. You don't need a tiller, a fork and hoe and seeds. LOL
  20. Hi all, hope you have been preparing for at least a day or more. There will probably be power outages, so be prepared. I got the gennie out of the barn and it is sitting on the back porch along with extra fuel and extension cords. Ice melt in case of blowing north wind gets the porch icy. Don't get out unless you have to, we have chickens so I have to keep them in water, but I certainly don't need a broke hip so I try to be careful. Prayers for everyone in the path of this storm.
  21. And most of all GOD is always in control. Doctors don't do the healing GOD does!!!
  22. I was on another gunsite and Pm'ed a guy from Mississippi that claimed his LGS had gotten a big shipment of primers last week. He said that the store had kept some in the back and were limiting purchases to 200 primers. Then about a week later they got 100K of CCI srp and 100K Federal spp. They were selling for $69.95/1k with limit 1k. Just to let ya'll know that some stores are getting something. That is a little re-assuring.
  23. If I did we will know it was rigged because I didn't enter.
  24. Correct sir, I believe this is a speculation to the fact that IF they were available then you may try them. I just read the other day that the ammo mfgs. said that primers are only sold when they have more than they need to make completed ammo. So as I have long thought, we are at the very bottom of the food chain as far as components. They make more profit on completed ammo sold to everyone versus components to the few that reload.
  25. I have read a lot on that subject and the concensus is 10 or more per longun, 6 is about right for pistol. And most importantly keep them loaded to 29 in each mag. My $0.02
