  1. Thanks for the heads-up! :usa:
  2.  "Blood in the Streets! Blood in the Streets!"-- I believe that's what all the nanny-state crowd was saying...
  3.   Evidently you missed this thread:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/51937-new-gun-store-murfreesboro/
  4. Wow, couldn't be bothered with an FFL transfer? Now that's pretty strange. I'm beginning to believe that there's more to it than meets the eye in this scenario. Open a business, with all the associated costs, yet avoid positive cashflow by ignoring or blowing off potential sales?   Interesting business model, to say the least.
  5. Welcome, dr33zie!
  6. Welcome to TGO!
  7. Still fairly new here myself-- welcome.
  8. I don't think this has been posted yet, but I found it well worth reading. I just hope there is enough resolve in Congress to stand up to the obtuse folks like Durbin & Feinstein.   http://randywakeman.com/WhyGunControlJustDied.htm   Apologies if it has already been discussed here.
  9.   did the same to me-- then I checked it again 3 days later and it had been changed from "regular annual" to "lifetime". Check it again in a couple of days.
  10. It worked for me.
  11. I haven't been to the shop yet, but I saw them at the last Mboro gun show. he seemed quite willing to sell there... although it seemed that his wife was setting the prices at will--since nothing had a pricetag on it and he was deferring to her when asked about pricing. Of course this was only 1-2 days after Sandy Hook before the political rhetoric kicked into full gear. He had a gently used SUB2000 with two extra mags for $650 that I considered but (regrettably) passed on.   After seeing the discussion here, now I'm wondering why even bother to visit the shop? Sounds like the Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons-- good stuff to sell, but not willing to part with it.
  12. I generally carry my baby backup (last resort weapon-- a .22WMR NAA Black Widow) in a clip-boot holster. Not exactly an ankle holster as it clips inside my boot top, but the inconvenience is the same-- I'd never put my primary firearm there unless I had no other choice. Even so, I'm so used to it that I sometimes forget that I have it... I have to double check myself whenever I go to the Post Office so that I don't accidentally carry it in.
  13. An update on my $300 lifetime membership-- although I got mine through the Tom Gresham link, and they didn't ask for my current member number at the time, I logged in today at NRA member services, and my membership reflects the update-- now shows me as a lifetime member with my original member ID. It also automatically upgraded the AD&D policy amount to $10K. Now all I'm waiting on is my new life member card.   So my earlier concerns have been put to rest.
  14. That Kel-Tec SUB 2000 is especially evil, since you can fold it in half and conceal it in a backpack... plus it's got that evil-looking front sight, a minimalist stock, and (gasp) a pistol grip! :drama:
  15. That's a good start, but be sure to proofread for typos (first line, and fifth & sixth lines contain typos) before printing a bunch of them. You've got the right idea, though.
  16.   You beat me to it--- THAT was going to be my suggestion!   OK Corral has quickly become my favorite outdoor range!
  17. Before I make my suggestion, how far of a drive do you consider "too far?"
  18. " Nope, not alone. My father was a clock collector-- at one time we had over 200 antique clocks of various kinds-- banjo clocks, OG's, "Gingerbread" clocks (like the Seth Thomas college model in your post), cuckoo clocks, Atmos clocks, anniversary clocks, mantel clocks, kitchen clocks, schoolhouse clocks, regulators, weight-drivens, keywounds, "perpetual motion drive"--just about every type of antique clock imaginable (including four "grandfather" or "hall clocks"). On top of that he had another 50 or so in storage or under restoration at any given time. He and my mother are/were (she's still around, he passed away in 2004) lifetime members of the NAWCC, and she still attends meetings & regional conventions. Let me say that there is nothing like the sound of 100+ clocks going off at the top and bottom of each hour. Fortunately, my father used to set some either a little ahead or a little behind on purpose, which made the chimes last longer (chimes would sound anywhere between 5-til and 5-after the hour), but they did not all go off at once. Needless to say I grew up with them, and have a few myself. I also have some that he had reserved to me in his will, but my mother still has those at her house for now. Even so, I do have a few already. Sadly, a very interesting hobby that fewer and fewer people seem to pursue these days-- kinda like jukebox collectors.   A word of advice on cuckoo clocks-- I highly recommend looking for one with an 8-day movement. We had several Black Forest-style cuckoos, and only 2 of them had 8-day movements... most of them have the dreaded 30-hour movement, which means you must remember to wind them daily, just like an old alarm clock.
  19. Illinois is not worth the spare rubber from your tires. Avoid it as you would avoid any police state.
  20.   According to the US Postal Service, you are under NO legal obligation to pay for ANY unsolicited merchandise. See the USPS FAQ regarding this issue here:   http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usps/request.do?session={a9580800-636d-11e2-ef62-000000000000}&event=1&view%28%29=c{35655520-77ba-11df-7334-000000000000}&objectId=&eksObjectId=&objectType=Case&isJumpEnabled=false&isContentJumpEnabled=false&vendorKey=&objTitle=&versionId=10143&searchProperties=type:natural&naturalAdvance=false&allStr=&phraseStr=&anyStr=&noneStr=&keywordStr=&tTitle=&topicFromSub=&topicsORSubUrl=&report%280000%29=p{2adbb220-28a9-11e0-5c1d-000000000000}&bcobjectId={2adbb220-28a9-11e0-5c1d-000000000000}&search=unsolicited&topicAndSubtopic=Sending%20Mail$ALL#Unwanted   On another note, I called the Tom Gresham-sponsored number listed above for the lifetime membership ($300). They gladly took my order, but did not want my current NRA member number, which I found strange. The lady I spoke with was a totally ditzy too. She said it would go into effect when my current annual membership ran out. She also asked which magazine I wanted, and I told her same as what I'm already getting.   So, if I start getting double issues of American Rifleman in the next month or two, or if I get a new membership packet, I guess I'll have to call the NRA directly to get the duplicate membership issue sorted out. I get the feeling that the folks at this number are merely  contracted order takers, and can't access current NRA member info.   We shall see.
  21.   True, but if he did so, it would would probably be on the QT so he could CYA before anyone could say WTF. Then Biden would ROFL at how all the little people are SOL.   :jester:
  22. CTD has jacked the price of everything. Caveat Emptor.   Too many other places to get it-- CTD will never get another dime of my money, primarily due to their opportunistic pricing policy. I won't call it "gouging", they're free to sell it for whatever they wish-- and I'm free to never buy from them again and spend my dollars elsewhere. The pMag pricing stunt wasn't the first time for them, but for me it was the final straw.
  23. I just bought 2 cases from SGammo last week, the price was the same as when I purchased some in November.
