  1. The best kept secret in Tennessee is Big South Fork. Managed by the National Park Service, so yes, you may carry, as long as you don't carry into the Ranger Center or other buildings where a Ranger is located.   The Trails range from very easy to extremely difficult, and you can back-country camp all over the place. My recommendation for a first visit would be to camp in the Leatherwood Ford area. This provides a good base camp area with immediate access to restrooms (the women will like that), and you can easily access both novice and experienced trails from this point. There are spots along some of the trails which are already cleared for camping, yet are nicely wooded. some sites already have a basic fire pit built.   Big South Fork is huge, and loaded with natural bridges & arches, waterfalls, & more.

  3. I have more than enough to make the average sheeple uncomfortable.
  4.   Wow, I was just thinking the same thing... take pure conjecture and tag it as the article closing. No refuting, no supporting evidence, nothing. That's a real chicken-$h*t way to close an article.   Of course, one must consider the publishing/editing source, and then it all makes sense.
  5. updated link to $300 lifetime membership, for those who are interested:   https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?CampaignID=ar15
  6. For my needs, 9mm FMJ has been the most difficult to find at even semi-gouging prices. I'm pretty set for just about everything else. (.45, .22, .22mag, 7.62x54, 12ga, 20ga, and defense loads for all) and have been able to find them with reasonable difficulty-- all without even casting a shadow at Walmart.   And I'm already well past the "basic load" of 200 rds. per firearm. I just want some freakin' halfway-decent priced 9mm range loads for practice. I guess I'll be waiting awhile for that, though.
  7. I truly don't want to sound callous, but I'm sort of surprised that it took her this long. McCready has had a long history of instability in her life, and has attempted suicide on more than one occasion. Any way you slice it, a sad outcome all the way around.
  8. Haven't seen the Kentucky brand yet, but there are a couple of places in Murfreesboro that serve the Bourbon Barrel Stout by BBC (Bluegrass Brewing Co.)   A truly phenomenal beer. I think it's also available in a few select liquor stores (ABV is 8.6%).
  9. There is a good review of them in the latest edition of American Handgunner. Also, my neighbor owns one, and I've had the pleasure of shooting it. Great little gun, the only thing I don't like is the 5+1 magazine. There's also a 7+1 mag, but using it makes the footprint larger for CC.
  10. Wow. just.... wow. :woohoo: :stunned:
  11. Hooray! The UPS man just delivered my Midway order! 1500 rds. 22lr-- may have to do a wee bit of plinking this weekend. :usa:
  12. Attention whores like "Captain 2A" in the video really grind my gears. Too bad most of them end up being actors... or politicians. :bat:
  13.   Hey, it's not MY "premise", but I think it's the dumb justification for the existing statute.
  14. old old old. And yes, the guy was baiting... but the younger "bigboy" officer took it hook line & sinker.
  15.   If I recall correctly, the "premise" of the prohibition of having a loaded rifle in the vehicle supposedly discourages hunting from the vehicle... or "roadside" hunting/poaching... at least I think that's the excuse given by authorities. Someone please add to/correct me if I am wrong.
  16. The last one I saw new was at D&T Arms in Goodlettsville around Christmas time. You might want to give them a call before making the drive though. Specialty Arms in La Vergne is also a Bersa Dealer-- They recently had the Thunder 9mm and 40cal in stock, but no 45.   I always keep an eye out for the 45UCP-- it's one of my favorite compact 45s... have two of them, and would probably buy another if I could get a good deal on one.
  17. Mine is on the UPS truck-- to be delivered Monday. :woohoo:
  18. ooops... never mind, I figured it out. I must have accidentally changed my content option from "new since last visit" to "content I have not read".   My bad. I'll pay closer attention next time.
  19. All of a sudden the page count for the "new content" button is not updating for me. I have accessed the forum from several different devices over the last several days, I have cleared my caches, but still the page count for new content continues to increase. Before last weekend, the page count would update after each visit... Removing "old" new content. For example, if I checked new content at 12 noon, I could check again an hour or two later and the older unread posts would no longer be on the list. But now as of today it shows 28 pages of unread posts, and the number is increasing every time I log on.
  20. agreed. Grab it while you can. Surplus ammo-- even Soviet-bloc stuff-- is not infinite in supply. The price per can is really not that bad considering the "bonus" of gaining the clips. the shipping charge does suck though...
  21. SGAmmo also sells the cans of stripped ammo from time to time. It usually comes in the older rectangular sharp cornered can, instead of the newer round corner cans.
  22. 1500 rounds and my shipping cost was a hair over $15.00. I have no problem with that.   Now, If I was going to order only one 500-ct. box and the shipping was still that much, yeah, I see your point.
  23. The BEST way to get them is to buy some surplus Soviet-bloc ammo already packed in clips. I bought 2 crates of 1950's surplus a few months back and I'm pretty set for stripper clips now.   A spam can of the clip-equipped rounds usually contains 300 rounds, which comes out to 60 clips per can. Don't confuse this with the non-clipped cans, which usually have 440 rounds per can.
  24. agreed. You should be fine the way you described. Be sure to double check the chamber, too!
