Perhaps the cheese powder from the Cheetos is sticking your fingers to the keys, resulting in "double taps"? Hey, it could happen to anyone.

There is much debate about the specific manner for loading mosin stripper clips. And yes, Mosins sometimes need "tough love." I prefer the alternating rim method-- first rim down, next rim up, next rim down, etc. like this: __---__---__ It's always worked for me, but many times people will blame the charging method, when in reality they probably have a faulty interrupter.

independent shooter-- that stinks. I live in Murfreesboro too. Just sent you a PM. ;)

Happened to be in Clarksville this morning, and stopped by store #673 on Wilma Rudolph Blvd around 10am. Lots of hunting calibers, even some 7.62x39, plenty of shotgun shells including 00 buck, but the handgun side of the shelf was pretty empty. No 22lr or WMR to be had, a few boxes of 9mm JHP, several boxes of .380 and .32, and 8 or 9 boxes of Federal .45ACP FMJ. I got my 3 boxes of .45 and left the rest for others. It's the first .45 ammo I've seen in a Walmart in about a month, but then again, I don't make the 7AM rounds every day like some folks.

Plausible in theory, but flawed in example. OC in a small West Texas town is completely illegal. However, OC in Pennsylvania is perfectly legal-- although you must have a carry permit in the city of Philadelphia to OC.

I've got a "naughty vs. nice" list as well, and I have a long memory. The use of market forces for capital gain is a good thing. However, the total exploitation of them is something else entirely.

Governor signs guns in parking lots bill

That's funny. I use almost the exact same response for the exact same reason. -
Wow, what a generous offer from a fellow TGO'er! PM sent.

Went to the Shelbyville Walmart that jphillips63 is referring to at 4pm yesterday (3/11/13). Shotgun shells aplenty, and rifle ammo, but absolutely NO handgun ammo to be had. Of course, it was 4pm in the afternoon... didn't really expect to find anything since he had already cleaned a bunch out. :surrender: It's obviously all about timing, as he has demonstrated. I've just become accustomed to giving up on Walmart and resigning myself to buy online when I can. Yeah, I take a hit on shipping, but my time is worth more to me than what it takes to jump in the car and burn a bunch of gas to drive around scrounging for what may or may not be available. And while my cache may be nothing like jphillips63's (I tip my hat to you sir! :usa: ), I still have a very comfortable amount for most of my chosen calibers. Mainly just looking to pad my 45ACP and 22WMR inventory.

Exactly. Although there has been a large surge in applications over the last few months, you are nearing the end of a 90-day window. The average turnaround over the last year or so has been 6 weeks tops, with most coming in around 3-4 weeks. I'd call and check the status.

Congrats, titan. Walmart Walk is always more fun when the parking lot is full of out-of-county or out-of-state tags...it just makes things more interesting. The weekend is better. And in Murfreesboro go to the older west-side Walmart. Too many Woodbury customers at the east-side location, and they could care less, 'cuz most of them are packin' too.

Derringers, who ownes them and who carries them?
tartanphantom replied to Mykltn's topic in Handguns
My main carry gun varies by season (9mm in the summer months, 45ACP in the cooler months), but regardless of what my carry weapon is, I always have my NAA Black Widow (.22WMR) loaded with Hornady Critical Defense as a last-resort gun. Walking out the front door without my Black Widow is like walking out with my fly open. -
Keep in mind that you can have no more than three (3) ounces of TGO onboard, and it MUST be in a clear bottle inside a clear plastic ziploc bag. Oh, and the boxcutter edition of TGO is strictly prohibited. Be sure to remove your shoes and belt before logging on.

Whoops, NY SAFE act bans pump shotguns
tartanphantom replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Actually, it appears that a "show cause" order is pretty standard on just about any case coming before NYSC, so their issuance of a hearing requirement isn't out of the ordinary. I don't place too much faith in a state judicial system where elitist liberal cronyism is the standard political climate. More information is here: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/02/foghorn/ny-supreme-court-considers-safe-act-injunction/#more-205763 Some of the commentary is particularly revealing. -
Yup. They used to do that a lot with Beanie Baby shipments back in the '90's... today it would be a shipment of .22LR. :jester:

OS-- I really don't mean to sound flippant, but it's a dyed-in-the-blue-wool state... even the "red counties" are purple when it comes to social issues. What do you think? My bet is that it WILL end up in the SCOTUS eventually. Let's just pray for our NY brothers-in-arms that the SCOTUS hasn't had a complete facelift by then. -
Map of States Right to Carry since 1986
tartanphantom replied to TSprint1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Some of the map info is incorrect though. Alabama is technically a "may issue" state, and has been for some time. Permits are issued at the discretion of each county sheriff. Even so, most counties just take your money and give you a permit if you dont' have a "record" or rap sheet. -

Not exactly. Unlike Tennessee, the New York State Supreme Court is NOT the highest court in the state. Above it are the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, and above everyone else is the New York Court of Appeals, which is the highest court in NY.. So there are at least two more levels of judicial review above the State Supreme Court. If the NYSC tosses it out, you can bet your bottom dollar that it WILL be taken to the next appellate level. The Cuomo-bots are not going to give in easily when they are so close to tyrannical success. -
Haven't had any misfires at all-- Put about 100 rounds through it at the last trip to the range 2 weeks ago, and half of that was Hornady. However, on a related topic-- NAA states clearly and strongly urges people NOT to use PMC ammo in their guns, due to documented adjacent double fires in the cylinder. OUCH!

I've carried an NAA 22mag Black Widow in my boot for a long time. It's simply my weapon of last resort. With the holster I use for it, it's so comfortable that I often forget that it's there until I take my boots off. On very rare occasions I will tuck it in a belly band or in a jacket pocket if I am not wearing cowboy boots. I've had slightly better results with the Hornady ammo than described in the aforementioned tests, but then again the Black Widow model has a longer barrel than the standard NAA Minis. Even so, I can shoot this gun with either hand, and in the 7-yard range it's pretty darn accurate. Even though the NAA will never be my primary weapon of choice, I certainly won't leave home without it.

Things are so crappie in this country right now that there's no need to fish for it. Serious fishermen-- please pardon my horrible pun and have fun out there!

Yup, Savage Gulf area is primitive, but very cool.

I freakin' love it... -
The O&W bridge trail and the Angel Falls Rapids trail (NOT the Angel Falls overlook) are relatively flat and pretty darn easy, and both follow the river canyon floor. Also, the Twin Arches Trail from the Twin Arches parking lot-- 0.7 miles, and not very strenuous. On the other hand, if you take the Twin Arches Trail from The Charit Creek Lodge, you are in for one heck of a strenuous hike! However, the East Rim overlook is also extremely easy.
