ESPECIALLY their "Lincoln County Lightning"-- love that stuff-- and it tastes "close to home", if you get my meaning.

Cops warn Chicago tourists soon will be armed

If Dante had written "The Divine Comedy" in modern times, he surely would have modeled the lower levels of Hell after Chicago and Detroit. -
Not in every state. The handgun permit criteria are not standardized. I can take you to a certain sheriff's office in Alabama where you can get a "pistol permit" with in about 30 minutes time as long as you can demonstrate residency in that county and you don't have a criminal record.. Currently, in Alabama you have 67 different pistol permits, as they are all issued by the individual county sheriffs, and the do NOT all look alike.

First-- not all state's gun permits are created equal-- we all know that. Different requirements in different states, as well as some states' permits have photos, and some do not. Second-- to quote TSA's website: "Drivers Licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)" -- an HCP is NOT an ID card. It is a permit with (in TN) a photo on it. State ID cards are issued by TDOS/DMV to those who request them-- usually if they don't have a DL. Third-- Sequestration at work. I suspect that TSA (like any other bureaucracy) is trying to make things as difficult and inconvenient as possible. Most of the grunts in TSA shirts are just following orders.... (like another uniformed "security force" used to do---back in Germany 70-odd years ago). If you don't already have a passport, get one. You'll soon need one anyway when Big Sis and Big Bro ask for it at the security checkpoints at each state line... :tinfoil: :stir:

Likewise. Dick's is on my crap list along with CTD and a few others. It may not matter to them, but they won't have to worry about ever seeing any of my $$ again.

New thinner DL's and HCP's from the State?

Don't you know "sequestration" when you see it?? -
On the furniture parts I use the hair dryer method with paper towels, which helps to wick away the liquified cosmoline.

Welcome to TGO, and thank you for your service. :usa: -
C'mon folks, a backwoods hick like me can't understand or identify with any of these Michigan places! Give it to me in terms I can relate to! Every single flatlander and yooper in Michigan carries his own roadmap-- so let's see it! And welcome to TGO, hendo2a!

Official Mosin Nagant sticky bolt/Other fixes
tartanphantom replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I used a Dremel cylindrical fine-grind/polishing stone first, then followed up with a Dremel standard 240-grit sanding drum to smooth it out. The sanding drum was j-u-s-t small enough to fit inside the mount only after I had used the fine grinding stone first. Be sure to use safety glasses, as the grinding stone will definitely produce small sparks. -
Official Mosin Nagant sticky bolt/Other fixes
tartanphantom replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
My 91/30 is a '43 Izhevsk, and it's about as nice a bone-stock Mosin as you can find. The bolt on mine has always operated quite smoothly-- in fact, others that have shot it have commented that they wished theirs operated as well. The only minor gripe I had with mine is that I had to grind/sand the bayonet's mount sleeve to get it to fit-- the number on the bayonet was not the same as the number on the receiver/bolt/buttplate, so I knew it was from a different gun. Not all that uncommon for a bayonet to be mismatched on these refurbs though. -
I bought the H001 standard Henry .22 a few months back, and it's a great little gun. Mine was very accurate right out of the box.

Wow. Some "friend." I wonder what would happen if he woke up one morning and all the tires/wheels on his car had been removed during the night? I also wonder what this "friend" would think if he saw his own tires in the same pawn shop later that afternoon? Not advocating anything-- just food for thought.

I wonder how much campaign money Bloomberg promised him? What a useful idiot for the gun grabbers. http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/24/joe-scarborough-nra-questionnaires-revealed/

Welcome to Tennessee, magick101! Wishing you good luck your new surroundings. We don't hold too many old grudges in Tennessee-- even Yankees can be forgiven.... occasionally. ;)

Murfreesboro Police gun buyback this Saturday
tartanphantom replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Keep in mind we're talking about the MPD. They are more likely to run the tags on your car and search it under "reasonable suspicion" before they would run the numbers on a gun for you. Sorry, didn't take my anti-cynicism pill this morning. -
Specialty Arms II in LaVergne has 9mm in stock. Can't comment on the prices, but they have it.

Yup. Two of mine came in yesterday and the other is due to arrive this afternoon. I think I'm gonna celebrate by taking my Henry rifle to the range a bit this weekend.

And now that you will be living here, you can gladly, and in all good conscience, take the advice of the Vice-President:

You are missing the real purpose of the law, but Dave hit pretty close. Its reasoning is two-fold: A: To discourage people from showing up in church smelling like alcohol and talking like Foster Brooks. (how socially embarrassing for a room full of folks in their Sunday best) B: To ensure that there's not a run on beer at the store--- this give the churchgoers a chance to pick some up on the way home before it's all gone. ("Let's see, I'll take a pack of gum, one of those pens, a couple of those pocket combs there, a roll of Lifesavers, a sixpack of Bud Light, two of those Slim Jims, a gallon of milk, oh, and one more sixpack...") :jester: I'm joking of course, but reason A is actually pretty close to the original social spirit of laws banning Sunday alcohol sales.
