You mean it's actually possible to carry a firearm without one in the chamber?? huh. never knew that. :taunt:

Welcome to the Boro from the Boro! :usa:

I agree. My favorite personal source happens to come from Macon County, close to the Kentucky line. A 1.5 hour drive for me, but well worth it. I tend to "stock up" whenever I visit the Lafayette area. If you can't go "local'; there are at least 3 or 4 legal Tennessee moonshine brands available at the liquor store these days.

oops... double post.

I second that-- very beneficial. I found one on the front porch this evening, carrying a bunch of babies on her back. Fortunately for me, they stay outside and tend to get full on the bugs in the flower beds... If I find one inside (most likely in the garage), I scoop it up with a paper towel and just relocate it to the flower beds. They may be large, ugly and scary looking but these spiders are some of your best friends in the "hidden kingdom." Voracious eaters of bad bugs (aphids, japanese beetles, weevils, cockroaches etc) and bad spiders like the brown recluse. If you find these indoors frequently, it's an indication that you probably have another bug problem as well. One more thing-- wolf spiders generally don't build webs-- they actually stalk their prey instead.

Despite what anyone else says, welcome, travr6. Tennessee has been my adopted state since 1985-- I come from Louisiana by way of Alabama & Mississippi, and I can tell you that Tennessee definitely trumps the other three in terms of overall standard of living. The Volunteer State is a great place to live-- not perfect, but it's just right for me, though we can always strive to make it better. I'm not crazy about some of the gun laws either, but at least they're not as draconian as some of the socialist blue states. I hope you will find as good a fortune as I have here-- I've visited 44 of the 50 states, and it's been enough to tell me that I ain't gonna live nowhere else.

Then, of course there are the Butcher Brothers... but one is no longer around and the other lives in Georgia now... :stir:

Maryville's Mayor is anti-2nd Amendment

What a putz. -
Some that haven't been mentioned yet-- Stalag 17 (not a "fighting" war movie, but WWII nevertheless) The Dambusters Memphis Belle Battleground Von Ryan's Express Big Red One Empire of the Sun (again, not necessarily a fighting movie) Charge of the Light Brigade (both versions) Glory Operation Pacific Rough Riders (highly recommended) and although it has an anti-war sentiment similar to All Quiet on the Western Front, "Paths of Glory" is a great film. for those of you into Napoleonic era I recommend the entire BBC-produced "Sharpe's Rifles" series.

Nope-- I couldn't find it on the DOS main page at all. I saw the link in an older post a few months ago and saved it. I think they're giving it out at many HCP classes now. Even so, I still haven't found a link for actual renewal-- although it may give you the option through the one I have-- I haven't gone down that road yet, as I just renewed about this time last year.

Please provide a link for renewing online. I'm aware of this link for new applications, but I'm not aware of one for renewals.

First open carry at Walmart - New yearly tradition!

but...but...but... "it's good quality metal, and you can hang it on a chain or use the belt clip!" :stunned:    :jester: -
I suspect it may have to do with the fact that it's NOT that popular when compared to other calibers. In the current ammo environment, I would imagine that manufacturers are concentrating their efforts on the most popular calibers in order to catch up.... as a result, more materials, tooling, and labor resources are allocated to make more .22LR, 9mm, .380, .45ACP, 7.62, 5.56, etc... This leaves some of the less popular calibers lacking in availability.

Yeah, a good sized yellowjacket community can make some mighty large nests underground.

I prefer to use kerosene over gasoline, due to the fact that kerosene has a much higher flashpoint. Gasoline is just flat-out dangerous, and the fumes are more explosive than the liquid.

I agree. We need statesmen, not political weather-vanes. But good luck with that...statesmen are extinct.

The "Perfect" new target for your next trip to the range!

I would hate to think that my next meal depended on acting in one of their commercials. I kinda feel sorry for the actress that plays "grandma"... imagine-- eat dog food or act in a "Perfect Polly" commercial... some kinda choice? -
Well, it's not marketed as such, but it definitely should be... would be a lot of fun to shoot if they weren't so darn expensive. Hey, it beats the heck out of rubber gophers. I don't think that even the stupid "99%" will fall for this one. I think I'd even buy an Obama Chia before this thing-- Billy Mayes and Ron Popeil would be proud https://www.perfectpollypet.com/ http://youtu.be/ELrZRru0UbQ

I belong to several forums-- a few firearms forums and a whole slew of guitar forums. Even so, there's only a couple that I visit daily-- TGO and http://gretschpages.com (a guitar forum). Both forums are laid back, friendly, and not abusive to newcomers or people with "(pick your subject matter) 101" questions. Life's too short to put up with forum a$$holes every day. I guess that's why I keep coming back to these two websites-- the site owners keep "noise" to a minimum.

I have used a peroxide wash for years. Totally safe. Nothing to stick in the ear, so no damage potential there. I just lay on one side and fill up the canal with peroxide in a bulb syringe and let it boil for about 5 minutes. The peroxide totally emulsifies impacted ear wax, and kills germs & bacteria too. Flush with warm water in a bulb syringe and repeat for the other side. I began doing this several years ago after I saw the doctor take a 1/4" plug of impacted ear wax out of one of my ears. No problems since then.

Anyone see the Wilson County student packet?
tartanphantom replied to Bill4282's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The flyer's content is just one incremental step in the NEA's ultimate dream-- total state indoctrination: The public education system is so broken that it's almost beyond repair at this point. Although we are dealing with far leftists instead of extreme rightists (true fascism), the end result is the same... -
OK Corral is my #1 range destination. Always have lots of fun out there.

been there done that. There's nothing quite like the feeling of inadvertently running a bush-hog over a yellowjacket nest, getting stung, then throwing the tractor in neutral and jumping off...running like hell--- all the while the tractor gets smaller and smaller in your rear view, as the inertia from the PTO takes the tractor another 10-15 yds on its own. And yes, the wet chewing tobacco thing really works.

Anyone see the Wilson County student packet?
tartanphantom replied to Bill4282's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Looked at the Wilson County Schools website, and the only thing I could find was the absolutely draconian (but sadly unsurprising) code of conduct: http://www.wcschools.com/education/components/docmgr/download.php?sectiondetailid=8807&fileitem=28138&catfilter=ALL I tell ya, if even HALF of those rules were in effect when I was in school, I would have never made it to graduation. The only other thing I saw were some links to some offsite parenting guidelines here (not published by Wilson County Schools)-- http://www.wcschools.com/education/staff/staff.php?sectiondetailid=9680& The handout could have come from one of them... I scanned through some of them briefly, and there are occasional mentions of "securing firearms in the home", but I didn't see anything that advocates "no firearms in the home". Not doubting the OP, just waiting to see a copy of the flyer/handout. Not saying it's not there, just couldn't find it on their website.
