This thread is like a Federico Fellini movie... the plot is constantly changing and getting weirder by the minute.

nope. not a thing. but don't spoil my good mood... at least not until tomorrow.

Not for myself, but I know of two unfortunate people from Colorado who are now looking for a job as of today... :taunt:  I'm sorry, but I've been smiling all day over the results of the Colorado recall elections. Not that the laws they effected will change, but it does my heart good to know that today there are two less self-serving arrogant politicians than there were yesterday.

For this reason, the RCSO has now made cooling vests a priority for all K-9 officers.

Not quite the same... you can deploy a hammer a hell of a lot quicker than a firearm with an empty chamber. ;) I give the tactical edge to the hammer in this case.

Looks like it wasn't even close for Giron, which is rather surprising. More details here: http://live.denverpost.com/Event/Colorado_Recall_Election_2013 http://gunssavelives.net/anti-gun-politicians/breaking-double-breaking-both-anti-gun-senators-angela-giron-and-john-morse-recalled-in-colorado/ http://gunssavelives.net/anti-gun-politicians/breaking-colorado-recall-anti-gun-senate-president-john-morse-recalled/ Gonna pop a cold one & salute the grassroots folks in both Colorado Springs & Pueblo. Congrats. :usa:

Sorry guys, my silliness kinda derailed the original topic, especially my last post implying the imperative need for color coding of ziploc bags on those cold, lonely December deer stand mornings. :hijack: Please carry on with the original topic of snacks for the hunt-- however, if nobody mentions Little Debbie oatmeal pies & black coffee I shall be crestfallen. :drama:

My Rossi .357 is the 20" barrel version, and it feeds anything I put in it with no problems. Just lucky, I guess. I did see some vids about shortening the magazine spring and replacing the follower with the aftermarket metal one, but I haven't done either yet, although both mods are on the "to do" list.
-
Then there's always the possibility of reaching for the wrong ziploc bag, especially in the pre-dawn hours when light is scarce. :stunned: Not a good time to get a "surprise" ziploc bag.

You guys are wusses.... whatever happened to living off the land while you hunt? You can make a darn good meal out of grubs, fungus (takes a little knowledge to know what kind won't make you sick) and pine nuts! As they say, "Them's good eatin'!" Jerky, crackers, and vienna sausage... that ain't huntin', that's Cadillac living! Jeremiah Johnson would hang his head in shame. Might as well drive your Winnebago right up to the tree stand! :jester: :stir:

I think that DMV would probably LOVE that. I get the feeling that they view HCP processing as a nuisance. Hopefully by the time my next renewal is up, 2-3 years from now, perhaps online renewal will be a reality at that point. The "double secret" online application appears to be a step in the right direction.

You are so right... in my haste to be a top-dog smartass I got terms screwed up. I'm actually referring to "closed shop collective bargaining" or "union only" shops as bullsh*t and rewarding mediocrity. Thanks professor-- fixed.

Hope Walmart takes a cue from Ronald Reagan-- nobody is irreplaceable. Especially unskilled retail workers. You either work for what you agreed to work for, or you go somewhere else. Better yet, you become your own boss and engage in entrepreneurship.

Thanks for posting this-- I've had better luck than you with the Hornady expanding properly. And yes, I've also tried the Dynapoint-- which is usually what I shoot at the range with this pistol. My experience has been satisfactory expansion with the Hornady-- maybe I got a "good batch", or perhaps I have better expansion results due to the longer 2" barrel on my Black Widow. For me, the Winchester Dynapoint has little to no expansion at all, but superior penetration. I haven't tried the Speer yet, but have read good things about it in these little guns.

I don't think you'll regret it. By the way, my Black Widow weighs exactly 11.5 oz. when fully loaded with Hornady 45gr FTX Critical Defense and holstered a leather holster (loaded gun weighs 9.5 oz, holster weighs 2 oz). So light you won't even know it's there. Not too shabby for an all-stainless steel firearm.

There are several youtube vids dealing with the folding grip version. I looked at the folding grip versions and did NOT like the deployment method. I went with the black widow model with the 2" barrel and the over-sized rubber grips. It works perfectly with a good quality holster (see my above post).

if you're unlucky enough to live in an area of the state where armadillos have moved in, they also love yellowjacket nests.

You don't see her as often as you used to, but Patti Ann Browne is still my all-time favorite Fox girl.

I've carried the NAA 2" barrel WMR Black Widow as my last resort BUG for quite a while. It also goes places that my regular sidearm won't/can't go. I may occasionally leave my primary at home, but "Charlotte" is always tucked away somewhere on my person every day of the week. With these short-barrel NAAs, it's important to carry high-performance ammo. Plain old Winchester Dynapoint ain't really gonna cut it, as expansion will be pretty minimal if any at all. There have been several recent tests of Defense-designed .22WMR, many of which have been designed specifically for these short-barrel revolvers. I carry the Hornady Critical Defense 45gr FTX rounds, which have had some of the best expansion and muzzle energy results in these little guns. Keep in mind that the smaller 1&1/8" barrels have some pretty evident "bullet tumbling" issues regardless of the load used. The 1&5/8" and 2" barrels have significantly better ballistic performance. As far as quality holsters go, it's a bit of a challenge to find one that's a good fit. However, There's a fellow in Montana who sells extremely well made hand-crafted leather holsters of all types for NAA revolvers. He mainly sells on Ebay. I futzed with a few nylon and a generic leather holster for my Black Widow, but I got frustrated with the crappy construction and poor fit. I finally bit the bullet and bought one of these custom leather jobs, and I've never regretted it. I have no relationship whatsoever with the seller, but if you're looking for a GOOD QUALITY model-specific leather holster for an NAA revolver, just look up the Ebay seller "colt45saa-us".

"Firearms +" must be looking to give CheaperThanDirt some serious competition, 'cuz by the looks of those prices they ain't competing with anybody else. -
When growing up, I usually didn't bother squirrel hunting until after the first killing frost-- I hated dealing with bot-fly maggots (aka "wolves".
