  1.   The one that sells at Wal-Mart?
  2. I favor 40mm "thumper" cans for bulk storage, but they're a little harder to find, unlike 30 & 50 cal.   I don't currently do my own reloading, so my ammo is pretty much all store-bought or milsurp.
  3. Welcome from Murfreesboro--   and be sure to keep your powder dry!
  4. I become violently ill every time I switch on the news and see how the boy king's administration is sending this nation down the crapper.
  5. Just seeing this for the first time-- my gut was wrenching through 8 pages of posts in hopes of a good ending...   So thankful that there was one.
  6.   Leave the "damn" out when you google for info. The actual cry is "War Eagle." The "damn" part is added colloquially, especially in rural areas of Alabama.   The wiki on it is correct for the most part. I grew up in Alabama, and the version I always heard is detailed under the section titled "War Eagle I".   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Eagle
  7. Although I grew up with the Tom Baker Doctor, I have followed the current series since season 1.   I gotta say that the David Tennant years (season 2 & 3) have some of the finest Science Fiction scriptwriting of the last 25 years. Excellent plotlines and realistic (for sci-fi) characters.
  8. This back & forth on ACC/SEC, FSU/Auburn/Alabama/Ohio State/whoeveristheflavorofthemoment is one reason why I pull for a mediocre team (at best)-- Mississippi State! (also happens to be my alma mater).   I never have to get pulled into these BCS or National Championship discussions 'cuz it just ain't gonna happen in my lifetime! :taunt:
  9. I grew up in Alabama, and I'm not an Auburn fan (not much of an Alabama fan either-- I went to college out of state). But congratulations anyway-- that was one hell of a finish! :woohoo:
  10.   same here... but nice job anyway Mav. Just 'cuz I'm an old stick-in-the-mud doesn't mean I can't enjoy your pics! The fireplace looks particularly nice.
  11. My experience is has been that many of the smaller shops are more prone to wheeling & dealing, while the bigger independent shops are less apt to do so... not always the case, but that's how it's usually been for me.
  12. 7.62x54R. Especially if it was made by burly, slightly bearded female Soviet factory workers somewhere between 1941 and 1956. Good reliable stuff that lasts forever.
  13. There is a huge difference between real racism and ethnic stereotyping. Many (but not all) stereotypes have at least some historical factual basis. Others are rather ludicrous, but sometimes still humorous depending on the context. Unfortunately, political correctness (group-think, controlled speech, etc) has been gradually introduced as "the norm" for many people. The result is the total loss of a sense of humor in general, and a complete blurring of what constitutes true harmful racism. Unless it is directed at male Caucasians... especially those who believe in RKBA and limited government.   The PC movement has bastardized the term "racist" to the point that it has virtually no substance-- even in the event that legitimate racism is evident (i.e. willful and purposeful inclusion, exclusion, promotion or punishment based primarily on a person's race or ethnicity).   I have a close friend and longtime band-mate who's father was Japanese. He was born here, is a US citizen and speaks perfect English. He not only makes stereotypical Asian linguistic jokes, but also sometimes corrects my "Engrish".  a great guy who has a good sense of humor about everything.   I've always held the belief that if I couldn't laugh at my own stereotypes (white, can't dance, have no musical taste, ignorant redneck, doesn't wear shoes, etc) then I had no room to find humor in other racial stereotypes... fact is, I find the entire human race incredibly funny AND sad-- and that goes for all creeds, races, and ethnicities.   I guess I've never experienced the liberal guilty pleasure of self-loathing and self-pity, so I don't really feel sorry for anyone else, nor do I feel guilty about anything that any of my dead ancestors may have done/not done. If you can't have an occasional laugh every once in a while, life becomes what the misery-peddlers are pushing-- pretty miserable.
  14.     This.
  15.   Only if you don't leave one of them in the closet.
  16. JAB-- don't look now, but the boogeyman is hiding in your bedroom closet... time to break out the glow sticks!
  17.   And still cheaper to shoot-- even with today's inflated ammo prices. A 100-round box of .38 special is substantially cheaper than the .44mag version.
  18. Both Metcalf AND Hornady need a lesson or three in Constitutional history and structure. The Constitution doesn't GRANT rights. It protects specific extant rights which are acknowledged as being "granted" by one's creator.
  19. A 28" double barrel with Aguila mini-shells? Recoil in the shotgun dept. doesn't get much lighter than that.
  20. Mine has the little hammer block safety (F/S) lever on the top of the receiver, and also has half-cock mode. The safety is annoying as hell-- I never use it. No lock at the back of the hammer though.
  21. The Henry infomercial also runs on Sportsman channel in the wee hours.
  22.   Prices on 40mm "Thumper" cans got really stupid too... one place you mentioned was charging $40 apiece for used ones. I use the thumper cans for bulk ammo storage and they are a little harder to find these days.
  23. I have a Rossi M92(now R92) in .357/.38, and have shot both. I find also find the heavier 158gr to be more accurate at 100 yds or less. For me the 125gr. tends to shoot a bit more hapazardly-- usually slightly to the left of center. The 158gr. doesn't give me this problem. I'm referring to standard round or truncated cone cartridges--  however, I don't do cowboy action, and have never shot hard cast lead through it, so your mileage may vary. As far as brands go, I've probably shot more Remington UMC and Fiocchi than anything else.
  24. I think I saw one of those at Hooters one evening... but I didn't get a good look as I was distracted by the rest of the scenery there.
