When referring to upcoming elections, it seems to me that the name "Harwell" should always be associated with deference to the term "Maggart-ed" as often as possible. Status quo "leadership" is hardly something to be proud of. And of course, she (Harwell) isn't the only one who needs to be looking for a new job. There's plenty more on both sides of the aisle and in both houses who need to go back to their districts permanently.

Permit Renewal by Mail in 15 Days
tartanphantom replied to mikegideon's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I recently moved, and put in my address change over 3 weeks ago on my drivers license. I got my replacement/duplicate DL after only a few days, but of course the duplicate HCP requires an old-fashioned paper application. When I called DOS to obtain an application for a duplicate permint, acknowledged over the phone that they already had my new address from the DL records. 2 weeks since I submitted the duplicat app, and I haven't got the duplicate HCP yet. C'mon, DOS-- a duplicate card on a permit that still has over 2 years validity left on it shouldn't be this difficult to get. -
Thanks, but no thanks on Dick's. Good to know that they're available though, others might need them.

You, sir, understand the true meaning and usage of sarcasm. :usa:

Online Application for Handgun Permit
tartanphantom replied to Tri-Cities Bob's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
At least it's a start in the right direction... what they really need to do is implement online renewal/duplicate permit applications, like drivers licenses. Don't understand why they didn't initiate this program with renewals to begin with-- they've already got qualification/certification information and fingerprints on file for most renewal applicants. -
Don't quote me on this, but I think you just gave away your position to the enemy.... :taunt:

There's a very fine line between clever and stupid... I think this thread is on the verge of erasing that line... and I'm pretty sure that I'm guilty of helping it along. :ugh:

I'm pretty sure that the sarcasm in this thread is about as obvious as the current administration's political philosophy.

A situation like that requires a trip to the front of the store to the store manager on duty. -
Hey now, don't knock the kilt-- you get to carry a knife in your sock, and the sporran make a great place to hide a backup mouse gun-- I do it all the time.

Piers will probably hang around and wait for Shannon Watts' empty head to explode-- just so he can be the new figurehead for MDA/MAIG.

If they come in day-glow yellow with reflective white trim, I'm in. It would be a bonus if they could throw in a hard-hat and a shovel to lean on as well. I see TDOT guys with this outfit all the time.

Weasel-matic-- (adj.) 1.pertaining to the action of a weasel (human or otherwise). Intentionally using guile, deception, and/or ambiguous, confusing method of communication or action in order to disorient its prey or victim; generally with the intent to cause the unsuspecting prey/victim to make a fatal (figuratively) mistake due to unclear communication or "loophole". related: See also "catch-22", "gotcha", and "speed trap".

Certainly sounds like a "weasle-matic" posting.

My response to Sen. Ketron-- I hope I didn't go over the top. I Just tried to get a clarification on his objections: "Mr. Adcock: Thanks to both Sen. Ketron and yourself for your personal response. Perhaps I am missing something here, but I fail to see how the simple cosmetics of a knife would affect whether or not it would/could be used in a crime. The concern appears to be over the difference between an automatic knife designed for hunting purposes, and the classic Italian-style "stilletto". Currently, there are many, many legal knives which by design can be deployed as fast as the classic "switchblade". They are no more or less prone to be used in the commission of a crime. Given the logic offered in your response, my question would then be, does Sen. Ketron feel the same way about pistols vs. revolvers? That is to say, a 38 special revolver= "OK" but a Glock= "evil'? Both are perfectly legal, both accomplish the same purpose, but their appearance is very different. The simple fact is that the current bill actually imposes a stiffer penalty for use of an automatic knife in a crime than does the current law. Has this not been taken into consideration? I'm just trying to understand whether Sen. Ketron's position is dictated by logic, emotion, or political hubris in an election cycle. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way-- but I do understand that legislative positions and votes can be and are sometimes affected by political climate and current party leadership, regardless of constituency position. I have supported Sen. Ketron at the ballot box in the past, and would like to continue to do so. It is my hope that Sen. Ketron will re-evaluate his current position on SB1771 and re-consider supporting this bill in its current form. Again, thank you for your time and your response. It is VERY greatly appreciated." I doubt that anything will change. But no response on my behalf would indicate that I was satisfied with his position.

Looks like Finney isn't the only problem. I got a disheartening response from my Senator today-- From the office of Sen. Bill Ketron: "unfortunately Senator Ketron does not feel that he can support this bill as is. He is concerned with the issues that could be raised in terms of these knives being used in violent activities if they are allowed to become widespread. He could be supportive of it if Sen. Bell limits the type of switchblade that is allowed to specifically hunting-style knives but unless he can do that, he does not feel that he can vote for this bill. But thank you for contacting us regarding this bill and continue to do so regarding this bill or any other bill in the future." Some folks just don't get it. If you are in Sen. Ketron's district, please contact him and let him know where you stand. I doubt if we can change his mindset-- his mind was probably made up the minute he first saw "West Side Story" back in the 1950's. It looks like he's saying "Gerber= good, Stilletto= evil." Sheesh. BTW, the number to Senator Ketron's office is (615) 741-6853.
