1.
Yeah, I saw that and it does say retired military are eligible on their website. We were just hoping someone local had a similar program.
I don't know how local your looking for but theres a small shop in Murfreesboro that has really good prices anyways but i think also offers LEO and Military discounts. The name is Pointe Blank Firearms and i don't know the exact address but its on Park avenue. I've got a business card in my truck some where with their info. I'll run and see if i can find it and get back if i do.
2. I completely understand your stance. I love my dogs as much as anyone and don't think killing them should be taken lightly BUT if i feel myself or my family threatened its lights out. As far as dogs killing your livestock, i grew up on a farm and had a problem with wandering dogs killing goats and chickens. Over the years we had goats i had to kill 3 dogs (it SUCKED everytime!). I always went to the owner and told them their dog had killed 1 or more of my goats and gave the oppurtunity to keep them off my property (and let them know if they had a decent bone in them they should pay for them) But once a dog gets that livestock blood they will be back. At that point all you can do is say i'm sorry but you were warned and now i'm out another animal.
3. The Murfreesboro fingerprint location it just off of the Church street exit. You turn off Church Street onto Westgate (i think) which is right beside the Las Siesta mexican restaurant. Some where in that little area is the Board of Education buildings and i was told its the one with metal siding. I'm scheduled for 10:45 this morning so i can post more accurate directions after that.
4. I pulled out of the office this morning heading to Shelbyville but since the M'boro DMV is 1/2 mile from the office i thought i'd pull through and check the wait there before making the drive. I got there a couple minutes after they opened and there was already a line but no out the door and around the builing like on Friday. The lady told me about an hour wait time so i decided to save the gas and get in line. but its over and done with and finger prints are scheduled for Wednesday Then let the waiting begin!
5. Thanks for all the replies! I saw several votes for Lebanon and Shelbyville and those 2 are pretty close by so if the M'boro line is terrible Monday morning i'll strike out to one of those.
6. I live in Murfreesboro and drove by the DMV to file for my permit and there was more than a days worth of line there.. Just curious if anyone knows of a station in a surrounding town that would have less of a line?
7. Well i think i'm going with the M&P so i guess theres about to be a Sig in the trading post
8. I agree, i wouldn't want anything that light. Like you i just don't want a long pull. If the the travel is short (like i'm looking for) then i really wouldn't care to have it any lighter than 4.5 pounds.
9. This is making me lean toward the M&P. And it sounds like the common complaint on the XD is its top heavy. What is the cost of the Apex kit?
10. I've got to stay in the price range of the ones i mentioned but would love a high capacity SAO! I may eventually end up there but for now unless i had luck finding something used on here or at a show i'm looking in striker fired range.
11. I like the idea of the M&P being slimmer and smoother because i'm not looking at compacts. I may pick up a compact model later which is one reason i like these two choices since they both have compact versions of the same pistol so there wouldn't be much transition. I really like the grip safety on my 1911 and that was a big draw to the XD for me. Your post kinda sounds like what has been rolling around in my head.
12. I don't really expect it to be the same, just looking for something a lil closer to it. With the SA/DA i feel like i am having to make a full fist to take get the trigger to its breaking point. I just want something that will break closer to its resting point without being to heavy. It seems alot of the striker fire pistols have a long and or heavy pull as a saftey function and i don't care for that. I bought my wife a S&W SD9 and i get along with the trigger on it much better than i do my Sig other than its a heavier pull. If On Target has both of those to rent that would be the way to go. I'll have to check into that.
13. I am going to be going to take my CCW class in the next couple weeks so i'm looking to trade out the pistol i bought for a carry weapon. I have a Sig SP2022 and have put about 500-600 rounds through it and really like the the fit and feel of the gun and it seems to be totally reliable (no failures at all). Now heres my gripe, I have found that i don't like the SA/DA trigger. I don't like that the trigger breaks just before it bottoms out against the front of the grip because by that point my hand is all twisted and i can seem to keep decent form. I love the trigger on my 1911in that it breaks almost right where it rests at and pretty light as well. I have been eyeballing the Springfield XD and the Smith M&P both in 9mm. I have had both recomended by several folks and i hope to find one of each to put a few rounds through before my purchase but wanted to get opinions from here as well. They both fit well in my hand but since i have not fired the weapons i don't know about the trigger pull characteristics so any descriptions and opinions will be appreciated.
14. I'd have to figure out if i've got mine at the house or not(sent it down to Florida at one point for my young cousin to learn with) but if you would like her to try the youth/womens 20ga 870 you guys are more than welcome to come down so she can try one out before you buy. We've got enough land to shoot skeet on. I'm about 5 miles out of Murfreesboro, let me know if you want to do this.
15. I've got a Remington youth/womens 870 that i was given as a kid and my wife has shot it some and it seemed to fit quite well. I still like to shoot it from time to time. Really an easy gun to get along with.
16. I went and spent 3 hours and got through all of it but had to rush a bit because i had to get back to the honey-do list. In my opinion it was really good. I'd say it were 3-4 times the amount vendors there than there was at the fairgrounds a couple weeks ago. Well worth the entry fee. If your looking for ammo there was a guy from Dickson set up just inside the main entrance with pretty good prices but i don't remember what the name of his business was.
17. Wolf is what i have been target shooting with and like you i have had no problems at all with it other than it being dirty, since its being cleaned every time its shot thats not really a big issue for me. I definitely wouldn't want to get behind on my cleaning and let it build up though.
18. Thanks guys, my guns get cleaned and oiled (liberally) every time i shoot them so hopefully that will be enough. A good childhood friend of mine lives with and works for Travis Pastrana and on my 1st trip up to his place in Maryland years ago i noticed a sign on the shop door that said "If you don't have time to wash and repair it, you don't have time to ride it!" (i guess people were coming over and riding his bikes and not leaving them as they found the) and this kinda stuck with me and i try to apply it to my bikes as well as my guns.
19. Good to know. I didn't think about the extractor at all but that makes perfect sense. I'd rather shoot brass but for the price of the steel i couldn't come close to it. I've been shooting a couple hundred rounds per weekend for the last while so every lil bit counts, if its probably not going to cause an issue i'll run them until i find a better option. Thanks again.
20. Thanks, i kind of figured with steel being used over the years that if there was a problem with it there wouldn't be so much of it running around today. My buddys rational was that it wasn't actually the steel case itself that would harm the chamber but rather the anti corrosion coating. He seemed to think that since it was the same case size as the brass and then you had the thickness of the coating, that you are now cramming a round in the chamber that is to large a diameter for it. I'm not sure how thick the coating is (i'm guessing very minimal) or how tight the chamber/case tolerence is but it seems to me that if the coating caused it to be to large it would be scraping it off. I haven't noticed any more or less abrasion on the steel cases than i have the brass cases.
21. I bought a bulk box of 9mm Luger and they are steel cased with the grey anti corrosion coating. This weekend i was shooting with a friend and he mentioned shooting to many of these rounds would cause premature wear of the chamber. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've got a Sig 2022 and a S&W SD9 if this makes any difference. Until recently i have only shot for fun a few times a year with handguns and and long guns so i've never been to concerned with wearing out a fire arm or buying cheap steel cased rounds so this is pretty new to me. Any help would be appreciated.
22. Thanks man, I see your in Bell Buckle. My parents live out that way and my wife and i will probably be building out there in the next few years. Super nice area!
23. Thanks
24. Thanks, Looks like a great forum.
