They will be great. I'm going to run by the office today and grab a punch set and a few other things so I can install the LPK. I'm just going to have to keep an eye out for a barrel that I can make work.
-
Picked up about 3:30 and everything looks great. Thanks for all the extra effort involved. I will sure check with you next time i'm in need of something.
-
Well the time is drawing nearer. Lower is supposed to be in tomorrow and after that i believe all i will have left to pick up is the barrel, delta ring, gas tube and 3way gas block, I may be forgetting a few small items but those four parts should net me a complete rifle. Of course then starts the tracking down of reloading and casting equipment but i won't rope that in with the gun build. Now to pick up the extra side work to fund the last few parts without "getting in trouble" :ugh:

Seems to me the prospect jurors should be under oath. If not for finding that Facebook post the guy may have well made it into the pool with his mind made up having lied the whole time. He probably would have answered more honestly had the fear of the penalties of perjury been on his mind. If they are under oath then why was he dismissed and not charged? Seems to me its the same problem going on in Washington because the laws seemingly have no teeth. I'll keep an eye on your blog, thanks for the heads up.

22 LR at Ammo supply warehouse 100 rnd and 5000 rnd box's
Luke E. replied to klamb5's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
This has nothing at all to do with this thread but saw your pic and realized 'hey' my bike was parked in that very spot on our way out this morning.. Unfortunately i think your right.. If one wants to go to the range bad enough they will pay what it takes to save them selves from looking funny standing there with unloaded weapons. -
ar15. 223 reloads not going very well.

Also something to keep in mind if you experience buckling of the shoulder is, If you have the crimp set fairly tight on a case that is "trim to, length" and you slip in a case that is at the upper end of serviceable length it will likely cause this same issue. Like Dolomite said, get the case gauge and save a ton of headache. I have a couple that i need to pick up as well. -

When using the bullet seater/crimp die it crimps by jamming it up in there further, once it crimps all it can it starts to shove the bullet and neck of the case down into the body of the case. Since the shoulder is tapered it pushes outward and causes the shoulder/wall edge to push outward.. I don't know if this makes much since the way that i've worded it or not. It is more likely that you are not sizing them deep enough but it you correct that and still have the problem this would be a good next place to look. I quit crimping with that die and use it only to seat bullets and started using the Lee "factory crimp" die and it does a great job. -

Another thing that will make you scratch you head is... I had my lee sizing die set and was running into the same ( round won't chamber completely but also won't extract ) I farted around with the sizing die until i was good and aggravated. After leaving the bench and cooling off for a bit i came back and found the issue. Not sure how I did it but, I had somehow gotten my bullet seating/ crimp die screwed in to far. I had my OAL set where I wanted it but the crimp was set low enough that it would swell the wall/shoulder transition out ever so slightly and preventing it from chambering. Yes, i felt like an idiot but figured i'd put it out there so maybe it would save someone else the headache. -
Anybody in Nashville do 80% lower AR "build Parties"?
Luke E. replied to serbu50's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I wish i had my mill and lathe set up. I've been wanting to pick up an 80% and give it a try. Once we get settled in our next warehouse i'll likely have the extra room to get it all set up. -
I'm ignorant of Mecca? If you are re referring to an Islamic prayer then you can bet your tail he would receive no praise from me. He also would not receive any hate from me though.
-
I agree. Anytime I see a well behaved or otherwise stand up child in public with his/her parents I try to take a moment to praise not only the child but the parents as well. I think folks need to be acknowledged and praised when they are doing a good job. Not that they should need my approval but in this day in age it would be easy to relax and "let kids be kids" and there's just to many negative influences to back off on raisings. My wife and I are starting to plan for having a child and I hope that I can be the kinds of parents mine are and obviously this kids are.

It sure gives a person hope in the next generation.

Rediculous ammo prices at Pawn shop.
Luke E. replied to LenoirGunner's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Most of the scalpers (at least the ones meeting in person) have a story about how much they paid for the ammo and how they have to have a certain amount. If a buyer believes that the seller also over paid then they will try to rationalize the purchase but it is just human nature that if they know the seller just gave $8.99 because the sticker is still there they will try to talk their selves out of it rather than remain in denial. But there are some that fit your description and will buy regardless. -
I once heard a LGS owner talking to 3 other people and he said "i would NEVER EVER EVER shoot a reload through ANY of my guns" I simply asked 'why not' and the room got quiet for a moment and then the reply came "well i just wouldn't" One of the guys was talking about buying a reloading press and finding someone that would take the time to teach him and had i not have been there he would have likely been turned off of reloading. I enjoying loading cases about as much as i do emptying them and would have hated to see the guy turned off by one ignorant mans statement. That being said, there are only 1-2 people that i know and trust enough to shoot their handloads but still prefer my own. Just have to use your head.... and the correct data (more important than your head).

Graphic about ammo prices of the last 7 years.
Luke E. replied to wewoapsiak's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I paid $0.75 per gallon when i was 16-17yrs that was in '97 and i know it dipped down below $1.00 per gallon after it passed $2.00 the first time. Either way, we won't see that again. -
[quote name="timthetoolman" post="976589" timestamp= Any opinions on loading on single stage versus a Dillon for accuracy? I would like to use my Dillon and save my elbow, and it seems pretty bang on for my pistols rounds. I have run alot of 223 through it for the AR, but they are just for plinking so....[/quote] Or you could meet in the middle with a turret press and you have one at your disposal if needed.

Great post, My father and i did some Brim fishing this morning as well.

Thats a fine looking truck. Hope it is everything you hoped (sounds like you had that confirmed before ever leaving home!).

I personally will keep walking but if faced with it will likely try to fight it out if i think there is a chance.... Now that being said i have a fair bit of training and experience in fighting and am still reasonably young and fit. On the other hand i would worry about going to a ground game fight while armed because it is going to be a toss up who comes out holding the pistol.. This is something i think of often and i believe i have my battle lines drawn in the sand that i can live with. Now on to others who may not be as young and fit, I believe your situation is MUCH different. You as a LEO have at your disposal, training, OC spray, baton, tasor, flashlight and sometimes backup.... Are you not seeing how much quicker a middle age man with none of those things you self admittedly had at your disposal would arrive at "fear of death or great bodily injury" ? I completely agree that you know the difference between a light scuffle and someone that intends to harm you as much as they can but i'm not a large intimidating man but i do possess training that would be impossible for anyone to know of so whos to say that BG doesn't possess the same.

Bore sighting is basically doing what Garufa suggested but using the laser instead of line of sight. The laser is only meant to get you on the target so that your not trying to guess which side of the target you completely missed (saves ammo and much frustration) Again like Garufa said, once your on paper you can start shooting and honing in more and more til your spot on. If your several inches off then turn the appropriate clicker(s) and shoot one more shot then make your next correction. Once you get inside 2" you might start shooting 2-3 shots between adjustment so that you know your not chasing around one bad shot. Good Luck

Okay, just trying to cover all the bases because i am going at this with a can in mind (if everything settles down), I intend to stick with the 16" barrel though.
-
I think i'm missing something... Why would you be planning to switch over to an adjustable? Or is a 3 way block the way to go until you add a can to the mix at which an adjustable becomes preferable?
-
Stainless is usually heavier but wears much better in my non firearms experience - Do you know the weight difference between a factory and SS barrel? -What in your opinion are the perks of the stainless over the factory?
-
Is there any reason not to go ahead and use an adjustable gas block right from the rip and skip the 3 way block?
