It seems we get closer to a "police state" each day! I would be on the phone with the ACLJ asap and wouldn't stop short of each participating officer being thrown in jail. Barring any omitted details i would take it to task (and probably as employment) to own everything any of them might own! Like i said before, barring any withheld information, there is absolutely no defense for these thugs. http://www.mrconservative.com/2013/07/20669-family-sues-police-for-seizing-home-violating-third-amendment/

Anybody in Nashville do 80% lower AR "build Parties"?
Luke E. replied to serbu50's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Precisely. I've not milled a lower yet but I did look over a friends jig and 80% lower. A lot of mill work goes into a complete lower and doing 20% in a garage is not a really quick job. They make it sound like its all but ready to shoot but its not exactly that simple. Take a breath, take your time and you will get this whipped. If you decide you want to borrow these machining books let me know. -

Running a mill bit is a completely different animal than a regular drill bit. I will go ahead and apologize if you already are familiar with what I'm about to say. You want to take off very small amounts of material each pass. If the bit is making anything but a very light smooth cutting sound it will show up in the finished product. If your getting any kind of chatter your speed is to high, you trying to remove to much material to fast or your putting to much pressure on it. Also, if your running a mill/drill the less extended the arbor is the smoother and more precise you will be. The mill/drills tend to have a bit of flex, especially when extended way out. I've got a couple of really nice machining textbooks that are easy to read and take you from A to Z and if your a bit of a machining novice like me, I would be happy to loan them to you. I'll just have to unpack them. -

It's called a Morse taper and your right, it is a friction fit. Is it a problem with the chuck itself? If so do you know what taper it is? I've got tooling for my mill that i would let you use if that is the problem. -

You know I thought that sounded familiar but just dismissed it as me being crazy but I have CSPAN going on my computer most days and caught most of those hearings. So maybe I'm not so crazy after all lol -

If you guys do end up getting together to do this, I would love to come hang out and watch if whoever the host is wouldn't mind. I also have a mill but no where to set it up at the moment. If someone has the place but no mill I could possibly load it and related clamps, vises etc.. and provide that part of it. Either way i'd sure like to watch the process. -

And the $1,000 in lost revenue was only for that night! That's not taking in to consideration the people that might not come back the following week or ever so in my opinion, the true total loss will never be known but I would venture to say it was at least a few times that amount. -

Okay I think maybe we are skipping the part where approaching the young lady as she walked out of the store and stating your business should have been. If they had met her at the door under light in plain view and said 'mam, I'm with the ABC and I need to check your purchase and I.D.' and then the girl ran, that may have warranted a chase. She most likely (almost certainly) would have complied. Instead a gang of them wait in the shadows until the young lady is away from the store (like any good criminal would) and getting in her car to not walk to the car but rather charge toward them most likely yelling. And then to go on and jump on the car and beat the glass just goes further to show the abuse of power. They screwed up right from the rip and deserve to have the pants sued off of them. Of course the "fled the scene" I would have likely done the same thing if unsure of the situation if for no other reason than, it's a better option to run than to have to shoot people that may or may not be bad guys. -

I guess it all depends on which side of a situation your on then. I thought about it some more after my post and I should say I do remember ONE that was very respectable. The rest were muscle flexers. -

Rush me in the dark in plain clothes and try to bust my truck window to get in and it will likely end in a poor manner for you. These tactics are reserved for thugs and other criminals and they sound like nothing more than that, THUGS! I bartended for a good many years in downtown Nashville and most every ABC agent that i had contact with constantly tried to prove to you exactly how much power they had. I have experienced first hand how edgy ABC agents can get at the least thing and when you refer to them as an "officer" they are very quick to let you know that they are an "agent". That right there should tell you that they are out to show just how big their *%#@ is. I'll jump off the soap box but this is insane that they will keep their jobs and live to harass again. -
I've never been a jealous person.... until now! Nice rifle.

Macmonkey, I have your parts heading my way. I should have them this afternoon or tomorrow sometime. I'm having them brought back from a place down in Georgia so whenever he gets back in town i will have them. I may be heading to Harbor Freight off of Bell Road tomorrow evening so that may be a good time to meet. The guy is giving me the hand guard cap for free and the rest of the parts are $6. He did not have the set screw so you will either have to let the cap keep it captured or determine the thread size and pitch and find a set screw at a hardware store. If you happen to know the size set screw you need i can run around the corner and check at Fastenall for one. Just let me know if you need me to check on the set screw the set screw. Luke

My wife and I watched it at the drive in Friday night and i will say we both enjoyed it. This may be blasphemy in this section but i typically can't stand Zombie movies or just scary movies in general but there's a first time for everything huh. It was not gory and nasty but was quite action packed and kept us borderline on edge throughout most of the movie. The fact that it wasn't gory and nasty may take the fun out of it for the true zombie fans but for me it made for a good time.

Well i may have gotten things twisted around. It says Polymer Lower Parts Kit installed except for Rear Takedown Pin, Takedown Detent & Spring, and Buffer Detent & Spring which are included with shipment so they may just be part of the kit that they installed in the lower. Heres the link if you want to try anyways. BTW look at the price for the complete lower minus buffer and stock!! It's been a while since i've seen one that cheap! http://www.capitolarmory.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LW15LPK

I'm glad it worked out so well for you.
-
Hey before you buy a whole kit give me about 3in to get home and I'll send you a link. There was a company I saw the other day selling complete lowers minus the buffer and stock but I remember reading that they had the take down pins and related parts needed to assemble it the rest of the way with your own buffer and stock. I saved the site in my laptop so I'll get it to you as soon as I get home. If for some reason this doesn't work and you end up buying a whole kit, byedan is a great guy to deal with. I just bought a number of items from him myself.

Well i came up empty at The Outpost all they had were complete CMMG and Palmetto State kits and i didn't think you would want to buy a whole new kit. If i see anything online i'll sure let you know. Good luck.
-
I don't reckon i've seen a threaded one from the factory before.
-
If they should happen to have them i'll pick them up for you.
-
Also is the list above all you need or is that just a partial list? If you can let me know everything you need i will check with Outpost this afternoon if i can get through working early enough.
