1st, here's a short video that's quite humorous, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152026342111905 And here is the dog related link that takes the 1st place prize for the year IMO. It's titled, "what if your dog could text you" http://aplus.com/a/dog-texting-messages Hope everyone gets as much laughter out of the texting dog link as I did.

One more thing, I have a couple straight carbide burrs for it (look like a drill bit from a few feet away) and I have found them to be the most used bit in my collection. I can text you pics of exactly which ones tomorrow if you want. They tend to be easier to control than a lot of the materiel removing type bits that I've tried and are capable of removing large amounts quickly without gouging the work piece. Text me tomorrow and remind me to send pics if you want them.

Get one with more speed settings! I would also HIGHLY recommend getting the setup that comes with the "flex shaft" because I almost never use the Dremel without it. You can be much much more precise with it and you don't start getting a charley horse 60 seconds into the job. I guess it depends what you are willing to spend but it's kinda like a reloading press in that the best method is to buy once and cry once because the one I have is at least 12yrs old now. I wouldn't buy the Dremel brand bit set (other than what comes with it) though because Northern Tool has a 200 (I think) piece set for less than $20 and I've had great luck with the quality. There may be certain types, grits, shapes and sizes that you want that aren't included in the set but the Northern Tool set covers 90%+ of anything I need to do with it. If I were buying one again I would at least go with one that has multiple speed settings and compatible with the flex shaft. I think you can even buy the flex shaft separate for around $30 if you wanted to hold off on that for now but I would definitely make sure that whatever I bought was compatible because if you ever use one with it you WILL have to have one of your own, like I said earlier, I almost never use mine without it.

[quote name="bersaguy" post="1147943" timestamp="1399824693"] I cannot remember at what time employers began using the term you are over qualified for a position but to me that is just Royal BS that they use to politely turn you down for employment. Being over qualified is a lot more than a polite way of turning someone down. There are all kinds of issues that are common when someone is more than just slightly "over qualified". One example is, say you hold a supervising position that you spent 5yrs working up to and then they hired me to work underneath you BUT my previous job was a position equal to the position that your boss holds. Now there's a potential issue with me "knowing better than you" or the other men and women under you realizing that I am more knowledgable than you and respecting my opinion more than yours? I think that if the guy in my position the "over qualified one" knowingly causes any of this he should be fired but this scenario can and does happen. One of the very top reasons for not hiring over qualified applicants is fear of investing time and money into training them to your way of doing things only for the applicant to get a call the next month saying thanks for giving me a crutch while I looked for a job that pays me for my qualifications but I've now found that job so I won't be working for you any longer. I can think of others off the top of my head but there's a few. I'm sure sometimes the excuse is used like you mentioned but it is a legitimate problem. Personally I think that if someone wants the job and is willing to accept that even though he knows more than his position requires it is still his position.

Don't let it get you down. I know of 4 folks that are either a close personal friend or a family friend that work in the tech field and have been laid off and 2 of them are over the one year mark of not having a decent job in their field and the 3rd one just got a job within the field 2 weeks ago but had been out of it for almost a year and a half. It really seems like the positions that they and yourself are looking for have been hit really hard by the economy and will take more time to find. Good luck with it.

In TN (or at least when I was home schooled) It wasn't as simple as my parents printing me off a generic diploma. The state required that all home schooled kids be registered through a physical school and everyone I can think of was registered through a private school. I was registered with Gateway Academy which if my memory serves me is located in Memphis. I had an above average GPA and worked pretty much full time most of the time through high school which should prove how much CRAP fills the day of public school children. I can't remember if it was required for us to take our SAT to graduate or is it was just to get a score for college but everyone my age that I can think of in our county took it and scored well above average. I just had something come to mind but it has been long enough ago that I can't remember for sure but it seems like I remember my Mom having us do some sort of test once or twice a year that had to be sent off with our grades. I could be imagining that though.

Care to elaborate?

I was also home schooled from 8th grade on through high school and I've never run into any issue like this (I've also been self or family employed most of my life though) or even been asked to show or prove I actually have a diploma. That being said, I wouldn't want to wager much of my own money that it doesn't happen either. There are plenty of folks out there that do not approve of parents rights to educate their child/children as they see fit and if they hold that view it doesn't seem far fetched to me that they might discriminate on those grounds.I'd say it would be an awful tough case to prove even if, because of the way things went down, you knew that was the reason for not getting the job or promotion.

So you hate AK's? Very nice collection sir.

No worries. It is listed on the dealer sites now. and a bit cheaper. edited my last post to show that.

What's the price for level III plates? I'm not seeing anything listed on their site. Never mind, Just saw the prices on the vendors websites. $454 per level III plate.

2014 Off Season Support Group Deer Season Thread
Luke E. replied to Slappy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I'd say the weeds around here do a fair bit of the work on them. The machine I was using to clear some ground up here just got picked up but hopefully I'll be able to get it back around mid to late summer to do a bit more and to work the ground to get ready to plant. I am thinking about planting a few things for this summer as well if I get time to. -

Well the offer still stands but i'm almost certain that you don't want to fight the ticks and briers over the sheds that might be found huh. -
I can't remember what the usual "sale" price is but $22.99 comes to mind.

Pheww I was quite nervous ;) glad you're putting it to use! Or re-use rather.

Provided that there isn't more to the story than we are hearing, this cop is in some doo doo. Even though with increasing regularity we hear of law enforcement officers being involved in shady if not illegal or criminal doings i'm finding it hard to believe that an officer just decided to confiscate/steal someones firearm if there were nothing that happened leading up to it for him to at least attempt to use as justification. I also find it hard to believe that in a state (TN) that has as many HCP holders as we do that there is an officer out there that is so ignorant of the laws that he wouldn't have take what the citizen was saying into consideration and radio his superior to confirm. I also know that if it were my firearm that had been wrongfully confiscated that I would not have left Campbell County without it or at the very least receiving a legal reason for it not being returned. This kind of leaves me thinking that A. a lot more went on during that traffic stop than your buddy is telling you or B. he ran across a bad egg that is working his way up to bigger and worse charges in the future and is just testing the waters.. I tend to lean more towards option A but then again I am having to figure all this from what information was contained in 4-5 sentences. If your"buddy" is in the right, I hope that he is able to retake possession of his firearm quickly and that a deep investigation is gone into to decide if the officer should keep his job because ignorance of the law isn't a viable excuse for any of the rest of us and shouldn't be for him either.

Please tell me that you were picking up that brass :x: guess if you don't reload then it's no different than any other brass though. i'd buy it from you if you're just leaving it where it lands. I would love to suppress mine and I guess once I get past having to wait so long i'll jump in.

I owned a 2022 and put about 7-800 rounds through it and it was a really sweet shooting pistol but like you guys mentioned it (as well as most double stank Sigs) was a bit wide in the grip for me. It was a very accurate pistol though! If you keep an eye out on CDNN you can find a good deal on mags fairly regularly. I get their twice weekly email flyers and notice them listed on sale their from time to time.

I've got reduced power springs in one of my rifles and haven't had a light strike out of it yet and it's had thousands of rounds run through it. For the price of the springs you can always throw them in and hit the range to put them through their paces. Heck if you buy them and don't like them i'll buy them from you ;) I think leaving the trigger and sear surfaces alone is a good idea. I have found that it's pretty much impossible to get a high quality AR trigger without buying a quality group.
-
I would suggest you avoid polishing the contact surfaces. There are some real downsides to it. I'm speaking from experience. I polished a set and it felt great but it wasn't long before it was back to where I started or worse. Most fcg parts are only surface hardened and the polishing can wear through the hardened surface quickly leaving you with a great feeling trigger temporarily but the softer material ends up wearing quicker and going back rough again. I knew that this was the risk before I did it but wanted to try it before spending the money to upgrade the whole thing anyways so I was no worse for the wear. Some will suggest against it but if you want to stay on a budget with it I would go on the JP website and look at the spring kits. They're cheap.

The reman companies soak up a fair bit of it as you suspected. When a buddy and myself were looking into buying bulk once fired brass to sort clean and sell we talked to a group out of, I believe, Arizona will buy all he can get there hands on at just below scrap value which is going to severely limit the number of online auctions you find that bid off below that number because i'm sure there are many others just like him. You might get lucky and find an auction that slips through the cracks but these guys make a living by watching these things like a hawk and paying what it takes to get the win but not so much as to sink them so I suspect there aren't many that slip through the cracks. Now if you can find some lots of brass being sold on private auction sights that don't regularly sell ammunition brass (not worth their time keeping tabs on) you stand a much better chance of coming out with a profitable win. Even though there are many brass sellers and reman facilities your biggest competition isn't these guys but rather it's the brass scrap value. Why would anyone go through the trouble of listing an item or lot for auction when they could just sell it for scrap and get the same or more? That is what is going to limit just how much of a deal you will be able to get. Now if you are used to paying retail "tumbled once fired brass" prices then you could definitelyfind a good enough deal so that you could keep what you wanted out of the lot and sell the rest to reduce the cost of the brass you kept but making good profit is going to be really tuff unless you jump in and start running through literally tons of brass. Next time I talk to the guy that I can get brass through i'll see where prices are at going that route right now.

Well I completely understand the neighbors distaste for it but it sure does mitigate recoil well ;) I don't do much shooting from a bench where others are lined up to either side of me so I don't worry to much about it. I will say that if you're standing 45 degrees to the rear of it you sure feel the pressure in your head.
