Let me know how it goes.. I just sent another email to admin.

Yep, when you "register" your email address and user name just like you would here at TGO it has to be approved. The registration will go through but in order to make post they have to finalize the registration which is what i'm referring to as "approving". I have tried registering with 3 different email addresses over a 3-4 month period as well as emailing a few or the admin and never received any response nor approval. I finally just gave up. Mike Gideon had the same issue I think but eventually was able to get through somehow but I'm not sure what he had to do. I completely agree though, any forum with such specific subject matter needs to have everyone possible visiting but I guess whomever is over the forum isn't to worried about it. Like I said, I gave up on even trying to get on there but now I'm trying to get rid of some specific parts and would like to list them on that specific forum but have had zero luck.

Rugerla and I spent the afternoon walking over some property I have hunting rights to. I found out that I've got a good bit of work to do between this season and next season because out of 110 acres we can only realistically hunt about 40 of it. It's not so thick that you cant walk through it but with no trails it would be next to impossible to get any deeper without announcing to every deer with 5 miles that you were walking through there. We did find at lest 3 good areas to hunt with 2 of those being along a nice creek bottom. The places hasn't been hunted in more than 15yrs (unless someone was trespassing) and the owner probably only steps foot on the property 5 times per year so if there is such a thing as a low pressure zone this is it. Here's the one picture that I actually remembered to take,

You would have hated the woods we were walking in today. Seemed like every 3rd step we'd have to start karate chopping spider webs that we'd walked through. I hate spiders with a passion but it's not bad enough to keep me from getting in a deer stand so I can only imagine how much more they bother you!

I expect to see a pic with some deer hide in it by mid morning tomorrow!! I should be home from church by noon so if you want, just plan on being at the house around 12:30-1:00, weather permitting. Depending on how my wife is feeling we may not make it to church so I could potentially be able to go earlier if that's more convenient for you. Go ahead and hunt though because I'm in no hurry.

I've bow hunted some but I've never gotten into it heavily due to the weather still being nice enough to work. What bow hunting I have done has been from a climber but even being in the air I always worried about getting busted during the draw. This has been my really long way of saying that I consider you a badass if you consistently are able to take deer from the ground with a bow!!!

I've not been able to pull the invoices from the 20kw generators that we had. The secretary is out of town this week and she now works from home so I have decided to wait until she returns this weekend rather than risk a breaking and entering charge to get them sooner ;)

6250watts? That was a pretty good score i'd say.

I wondered about what manufacturer the nut came from. I've also noticed some handguards will come with a little cheap stamped steel "wrench" that you stick a ratchet in and they seem to chew themselves and the barrel nut up pretty bad. There's also no shortage of cheap chinese AR "do-it-all" tools and they don't seem to mesh with the different barrel nuts very well. They seem like they fit pretty snug at first but as soon as you put a little force to them and the paint or whatever coating they have on them comes off all you're left with is a very sloppy wrench just itching to ruin a barrel nut.
-
Tightening in a sequence like Dolomite is describing will not only get you around a little further but will also "pre" stretch the threads which will minimize any stretching later on causing the barrel nut torque to reduce with use. I seriously doubt if it would gain you a full hole worth of turn but every one is a little different. Definitely have him use grease when he reassembles.

Anyone run a black rear sight on you CCW?
Luke E. replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
My Dawson Precision set has a Black rear "target" sight and a fiber optic front. The fiber rod is shrouded pretty well and I've not had any problems out of it to speak of. I change it out from time to time just to freshen it up but I've not had one break or crack yet. I won't go so far as to say that it's the ideal carry gun setup but I use this pistol for a bit of everything. When I get a Shield or some other dedicated carry gun I will install tritium front and probably stick with a black rear. -
An old neighbor of mine always dreamed of buying a spot of the Buffalo and talked about it constantly. Once his folks passed away and the kids auctioned off the farm it only took him about 2 weeks to disappear over there and I've never seen or heard from him again. I figure if it's that nice I may have to go check the area out sometime.

:no1: 000 Congrats on the milestone! You mentioned 65grendelforums.com. I've tried to get on there every since the orders went in for the TGO receivers last year and I decided that I was going to build one. I've had some other things come up that i'd like to go ahead and get so now i'd really like to get on there and list the parts I have for sale but I have messaged everyone I could on there but never have gotten anyone to instate my registration... My point is the congrats might be more warranted for the fact that you were actually able to get registered on that forum!

Not only will the lapping tool allow you to get your gas tube lined up within the correct torque range but it's main purpose, imo, is to ensure that the face of the receiver is true with the bearing surfaces that the bcg rides on which means that your barrel and extension will be properly aligned with the bolt. Even if he's ordered the shims already, personally, I would go ahead and buy or borrow a lapping tool and do it right. I'd be glad to loan mine to you so you can lap his receiver for him if the money is a concern. I haven't even used mine yet so you'd get to break it in ;) Just let me know if he wants to go that route and we can figure out a time to meet up.

Those are some beautiful woods there! They remind me of a few tracts we had leased down in Georgia when I was young. I would rather sit in a climber in open hardwoods like that than anywhere else on this earth. Nice having a spot where you can let your son hunt his own stand but you still be close by. Is this in the Westmoreland area?

That's who I was referring to in Murfreesboro. He does nice work huh.

current lds cannery price list and info?
Luke E. replied to broylz's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Here is a link to an old thread (2011) http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/38035-lds-cannery-info/ So there's a good chance things have changed in 3-4 years. That being said I had never heard anything about the LDS cannery before so i'm interested to learn more. -
I rattle canned one of mine last year and it has held up great. I would post a pic but I have changed a lot of the parts so it looks a bit odd.. I will say that it held up much better than I ever thought or wanted it to since I was really looking for that weathered look. That rifle has had at least 6,000 rounds through it since it was painted and other than where it was smacked up against rocks and trees in the woods it looked about the same as it did day 1. Personally, I am not a fan of Hydro Dipping, everything I've seen that had been Hydro Dipped came out looking like a toy to me, kinda cheesy. I'm sure there are some hydro dipping jobs out there that look great but it's not for me. If you go the rattle can route you can always change it up to blend with the different areas that you decide to hunt. If you are against the rattle can route then I would suggest CeraKote. It is far more durable than hydro dipping and looks way better IMO. I have a guy that does superb CeraKote work here in Murfreesboro and he also does Hydro dipping if that's the route that you decide to go. There's also SigBrown here on the forum that has just opened up a CeraKote shop in the Nashville area. I've not had anything done by him personally but from the looks of cj0e's sig, it looks like he does good work. Here's a link to the Sig pistol that SigBrown did for him, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/82221-had-to-show-it-off/ EDIT: I forgot, when SigBrown opened his shop he also changed his name on here to "Amendment2customcoatings" He is now a vendor here.

Well I guess He needs to order a new barrel nut with the shims huh ;) I would suggest receiver lapping tool that R_bert linked above rather than shims. Very little material will need to be removed to allow it to line up at 30ft.lbs. and sometimes just removing the finish is enough but if he's a whole hole off then he'll have to take just a bit more off. They aren't expensive and Outpost stocks them for I think $28.
