Were they billet receivers that didn't fit? Every clamshell vise block that I've seen has been made to fit mil-spec forged uppers and I've never seen one that would mesh with a billet receiver without some Dremel work

I was driving by the far end of the property this evening on my way home and against my better judgement I decided to swap memory cards in the camera. I've been trying to leave them for 3 or more days between visits to minimize the chance of being seen and then only going in around noon but I figured I would pull this one while I was close by. You can't tell a lot about the deer but thought it was cool that he got right up against the camera to pose for a shot not to mention he was in there about 20 minutes after a group of doe left during day;ight so it makes me think that they are starting to rut. anyways, here's the pic, I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of mature bucks that I have on the property this year! I saw a 10pt coming across the road heading towards the camera that this pic is from a few days before but he never stopped in for a photo session. This one makes 5-6 (two of them may have been the same buck but I couldn't say for sure because of the camera angles) "shooter" bucks that have walked by a camera so there could be more. Al have been outside or close to outside the ear width 8-10 point deer so here's to hoping for a great season!

^ this. There is nothing that protrudes enough for anything BCGS related to hang up. That is unless the receiver is twisted. You can prove this to yourself by taking a BCG out of your rifle and trying it in his receiver. if the problem is still there (I think it will be) then you know the receiver is the problem.

Did he use one of the "clamshell" type upper vise blocks? I'm going to assume that he did because that's the most common type. I doubt that he squished the upper receiver in the clamshell by over tightening the vise but it is very possible to twist/torque the receiver by using a cheap clamshell vice block and putting to much force on it with the wrench. A twisted receiver could definitely cause it to be hard to move the bolt carrier back and forth within the receiver. I would tend to think that it woul be really hard to twist one enough that it would require him to "pogo stick" it as you described. How much difference is there In required force when chambering and un chambering a round vs. just running the bolt carrier group back and forth with no ammo?

I don't go into Wal Mart all that much but I do find myself at both of those places semi regularly. I NEVER walk into Wal Mart unarmed (I seldom go anywhere unarmed) but especially there. My wife has taken her permit class but has not made time to go sit in wait at the DMV yet. I think I will use this to put a bit of extra pressure on her. I somehow missed hearing of either of these two incidents. Thanks for posting!

I don't think anyone here is saying that they think their money that they've been forced to pay in is being held for them in their own account. Chuck, I'm not real concerned with any past supreme court decisions because I am not nor do I plan to try and fight this out in court. What I, and I think most of us, are saying is that SS was sold to the American people as money taken from them in order to be able to pay them a piss poor paycheck once they were to old to work or decided to fall out of the workplace after a certain age. We have not been lead to believe this about any other social program that I can think of. SS is the only program that we have been lead to believe that we will one day start receiving repayment on. By you guys way of thinking, only leeches would draw SS because it was never put into a separate "retirement" type fund even though it has been sold to the "leeches" as a retirement savings. So if they start stealing more of our money and tell us that it is for any medical care costs we might incur but then they deposit the money in the same place that they deposit the SS money, neither of you are going to allow them to pay your medical expenses? Wouldn't allowing that money to cover your medical expenses make you a leech?

New Surplus Pistol Powder from David (DLM37015)
Luke E. replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
David, I sure am sorry to hear about Rocco. My dog goes EVERYWHERE with me so we're together pretty much 24hrs a day much like you and Rocco were. I get squeemish at the thought of losing Bristol so I can imagine the empty feeling you're dealing with. I hope the 2 new additions will help to numb that a little for you. -
If SS were like other social programs where the gov. steals money from you to give to others with zero chance of you ever seeing a dime of it again unless you get yourself in bad financial shape, I would agree with you. But it's not, the gov. steals our money with the promise that they will be good stewards and return that money in payments after reaching a certain age. Unless you are some sort of minister or one of the other few exceptions, you have NO choice, we're forced to pay into the savings/retirement program and would be swept off to jail quickly if caught not paying in so to belittle anyone wishing to receive their forced savings seems like BS to me. The only way to keep the program in any sort of "good" health is to move the age of eligibility back a handful of years or so but I don't think I'm okay with that. I'm thinking that my generation is going to need to be the generations that "took it on the chin" in order to spare our children and grandchildren from the madness and theft that is SS. If we keep paying out at the same rate that SS has always been paid then it will bankrupt SS. My plan only works if my generation lets them bankrupt the SS system and then refuses to allow them to start over. If we don't do both of those things then we're dooming our children and grandchildren to be bullied and stolen from the same as we have been. Like Mike, I'd gladly refuse any and all SS benefits if they would return all monies paid in to date so that I could invest on my own but where I differ I think is that I would be willing to keep paying into SS as it is bankrupted so long as I knew that once it crumbled, it would stay crumbled.

Back when I was training and fighting MMA my Muay Thai coach didn't allow any gloves to be used so I can't make any suggestions but I can sympathize with the need for them cause those bags are really rough on the knuckles!

The way I understood the OP, he already has another job lined up that he's ready to step in to. Sounds like he'll be sitting at a new desk and be drawing paychecks before the first UI check would ever show up so I'm guessing that he won't be going through to much trouble to collect a few days or possibly weeks worth of UI.

This is what all stores should have been doing the whole time. I'm not going to go so far as to say that things would be back to "normal" if everyone had done this but it would have made it WAY tougher for the resellers that were buying it all up in the beginning. If it hadn't been for them most folks would have been satisfied just buying what they needed if they had been seeing it on the shelves.

Well I guess the best time to get let go is when you are about to turn in your notice! What do you sell?

Do me a favor and keep me posted on how the crossbow hunting goes (range, effectiveness, etc). The reason for my curiousity is, I'm trying to think through some things but im thinking about trying to set up hunting opportunities for disabled vets. It would be a lot of work because I'd have to prep a lot of property in order to have enough locations that I could give as many opportunities as I'd like to. I've got plenty of people that would be willing to go out on the hunts with them if there were enough interest to need to be multiple places at once. I'm trying to think through all possible disabilities so that I can make provisions and not have to turn anyone away. I'm not sure that I could even get everything ready in time for next season due to the costs and labor involved. Maybe I can get at least enough done by next season to be able to take 5-6 guys out just to give it a trial run. I'm sure a standard compound bow would be out of the question for some of these guys hence the interest in the crossbow.

Btw, I use to bartend right off of Broadway on 2nd ave. if it makes you feel any better I have seen all sorts of stuff dropped into those grates. I even saw I girl out on her bachelorette party pull her engagement ring off to show someone and... You guessed it, it ened up in the storm drain that she was standing just above. I wish I had recorders that so I could show everyone what true drunken hysteria is.

If it's like the renewal process then you will be able to carry while you wait for it to come in the mail as long as you carry the receipt of the transaction on you're person while carrying. Of course if it's just like getting a duplicate license then you'll walk out with it.. I'll spare you the comments on how you lost it as I'm sure you've heard them all by now.

Sorry your health is keeping you out of the woods, bud! I'm also enjoying seeing everyone's "Pics from the stand" but hopefully we'll be getting some harvest pics soon to go along with them. I've built some 5'x4' ground blinds that will be insulated here in the next few days and they are tall enough that I can stand up with my head leaned over and I'm close to 6'2" so I'm guessing that they're over 5' inside. I know you said you can't sit more than 30 min at the time but if my blinds sound like they'd work and give you an opportunity to get out for a hunt just let me know and we'll try to work out a day for you to come down for a hunt during rifle season.
