I don't have any personal experience with them but I talked to a guy up at Fort Campbell that had one and he really liked his a lot. On the flip side I was in a gun shop about 2 months ago and a guy came in trying to sell/trade one and the shop owner wouldn't make him an offer so? I don't think the shop owner had ever heard of them before which is why he didn't even make an offer on it so I'm not sure I would place to much weight on that.

I tumble every finished rifle round that falls off my press to get the case lube off. I've loaded and tumbled over 15,000 rounds of .223 in the last year or two with zero problems As for the cull rate, it should be pretty much zero if it was never fired pull down cases. On top of that, Lake City brass is typically good stuff and I get many loadings on each piece. Sounds like a call to whomever you purchased it from is in order!

New to canning and have some supply questions

I'd say at that point you'll have more on your mind than the rotation of can lid seals! You (andTMF) answered my question without actually answering it. I was just wondering if they were reusable as in 2-3 uses or if they would go further than that barring operator error. -
I understand the principle of it all, just stating that I've had no problem with it... Yet 😉 Also the house is around 1,800sq' and during remodeling I guess I was opening and closing the door from time to time allowing fresh air in. I will say, be very careful with a forced air heater that runs on kerosene/diesel. When I was 17-19 years old and was racing motocross very heavily some friends and I would sit out in the shop working on bikes until 1-2am 3 nights or more per week and ran one of these on dyed farm fuel in the un insulated shop. The moment the heat was turned off to let the air catch up the temp would plummet so we seemed to always leave it running until everyone's eyes were burning and watering and tiredness started kicking in. A buddies dad happened to stop in one night and set us straight real quick on our stupidity only in much stronger and colorful language. I've tried to run propane since.

I've never had a problem with any propane heater I've had indoors. I have a propane forced air (torpedo) heater that I use for some things and when I was remodeling the house I would run it 10hrs a day when I had the wood stove pulled out and I never had any issue with it YMMV. I've also used it in the crawl space while working of something and I'd think if it was going to cause problems it would have been then but again, others may be different.

I'm in TSC about twice a week most of the time but have never looked at anything canning related before. I'll have to have a look next time I'm there. I did pick up 3 dozen of the Golden Harvest pint jars on Saturday so at least I've gotten the ball rolling a bit but now I need to find a deal on quart sized jars locally. I'll look into the reusable lids, how many uses have you gotten out of yours so far? I assume they eventually have to be replaced? -
Judging by the number of deer I'm seeing on one property we should be able to get you loaded up with feet. I'll also make at least 1 but possibly 2 trips to FL after season is over here so there will be more available then as well. Any use for wild hog hooves? I'd say it's quite likely that we'll end up with a few of those this year as well but will be January before that happens probably.

I looked into one back when we had a 40'x100' shop but to buy a commercially available unit was going to be pricey up front $3,500-$4,000 comes to mind. Were you thinking of building your own or buying a turn key model? If you were looking into just buying one, what price range do units for garages and hobby shops fall in?

Caster was referring to the oil filled electric heaters that look like the old radiator heater that big building with boilers used to have. We've got a couple that we supplement use in the bedroom when there's a hot fire burning in the stove out front. Our thermostat is pretty close to the wood stove in the front of the house so back rooms can get a bit chilly if we have a hot fire going. We'll just kick it on low to keep the chill knocked off until the fire dies down in the morning then our central unit takes over for the day. Anyways, that was the long way around. No, the oil filled heater probably won't satisfy your heat needs if it's pretty cold out and even if they would it would take a long time for it to warm up any decent amount of space. if you don't have to change the temp much then they aren't a bad option BUT if it's 40 degrees out and so is your shop then it would take some amount of time for an oil filled heater to bring it up to 60 if it even would. If you will have a wood source then a small wood stove will heat up fast and not cost you much to do it.

Like dolomite mentioned, Most primed Lake City brass is not "new" as in never been loaded before. It's "new" as in never been fired before so since most have had a bullet pressed into them and then pulled back out, you will most likely need to neck size or, as you said, pull the decapping pin and run them through. If you don't you quite possibly could drop a bullet down into the case when you go to press it in. Ask me how I know that.......

I've got a small wood burning stove that I intend to install when I get things moved into the shop. I think they sell this exact model at TSC for around $250. I got mine for $10 at the scrap yard that I happened to be standing at when the guy rolled across the scales to drop it off to be crushed... Got lucky. I used to have one like it in a 30'x30' shop area and it would certainly keep you warm in that size shop.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a flaw in my plan that I'd not thought of yet. Both of the blinds we put out this year are 5'wx4'deepx5'6"tall so with insulation and a heater they should stay nice and warm. The only catch is that I didn't get the windows built last week since I was chasing cows in all of my free time (and no free time) so they won't be sealed up like i'd hoped to have them unless we get a rainy day this week so that I can get them knocked out. Even if I don't get them in there permanently like I want them it would be nice to just shoot a few screws into the hinges so that they will help keep some of the warmth in..

 on the heat! I have one of mine insulated so far and am hoping that I can get in there and insulate the other one around noon one day this week. What type of propane heater are you using? I am looking at one of the single burner heaters that screw onto the small green Coleman propane tanks but am still open for suggestions.

Gander mtn. CCI mini mags in stock? 8 bucks!
Luke E. replied to seez52's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I was at Outpost Armory a few Saturdays ago and they have several flavors to choose from. The of course had a ton of the high end match Eley and Remington 50rd boxes but they're more than 9mm so I'd really have to have a nice .22 rifle to warrant purchasing those but what surpised me was this, The ha 100rd boxes CCI mini mags, 50rd boxes of CCI standard, I think I saw CCI subsonics, 50rd boxes of Geco and one other mid level selection. I was there with a buddy for close to 2 hours (he was going to make his weekly gun purchase) and I watched people shop all around the stuff without purchasing any. Some would actually look at it, some would kinda glance over at it and some couldn't have cared less, I'd say in those 2 hours I only saw 4-5 people purchase any and 2 of them were purchasing rifle chambered for it. It wasn't priced cheap but they weren't busting heads either, I think they had the Mini Mags priced at $9.99 and the CCI standards priced at $4.99. I didn't pay any attention to what the rest were priced at but I don't think any of the prices were prohibitive if you wanted some to shoot and were't looking to prepper purchase the stuff. Things may have been selling faster before and after I was there but from what I saw the craziness has slacked a little, -
You wouldn't :stir: would you? I'm not far from grinding beef. If this had been any of the other neighbors i'd have been grinding beef before they ever noticed one missing but these are good people. I have been thinking about offering him about half what the cow is worth that way I'd get the beef and my food plots back. If The shoes were on the other foot i'd have already killed the damn thing and been waiting impatiently for the processor to call me to pick up my meat. I've got my fingers crossed that this problem will be taken care of tomorrow. The worst thing I could do is send my momma over there. She sure doesn't like for me to get wound up and she has no love for his cows since the came up the the house and trampled and sh!t all over her new grill a few years back. I 'm just hoping things get worked out tomorrow...
