  1. Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong spot. Please feel free to move if needed. Now, I ran into a guy at the range Saturday whom I had met at Darr's in Red Bank a few years ago. Stand up kind of guy. Anyway, he told me that he and a friend had considered trying to reopen a shop where Darr's used to be, but backing and such had fallen through. Anyway, that made me start wondering about the application process for an FFL, and if it would be something that would be worth trying. Not saying that I have the financial backing to open a shop right off the bat, but maybe something to start receiving firearms for local Chattanooga, where our only real choices are Carter's and Carl's shops, then maybe working into a full time shop. Has anyone else contemplated this? FFL holders, how big of a pain in the ass is an undertaking like this?
  2. Absolutely agree. They'll have some story about how much more it cost them to get it in stock . I saw one local dealer that was trying to sell primers for $70 / 1000. Hell, he had never really carried reloading supplies before that. They'll never get my business again.
  3. Hey Gimpy, PM me a price and quantity for that brass. Is it M118 brass?
  4. Hmmm, I guess I wont trying using my BH holster for this particular drill. David, I now have a whole new mental image of ya after the "T-Rex hugging a watermelon" comment. By the way, this thread definitely derailed lol
  5. Good advice, Hex. When she shoots the P22 enough, she'll probably start wanting to try other guns. Don't try to push too much on her, it'll come with time. Same exact scenario with my wife. She started with the P22 (also the handgun I started my son with, as evidenced by my avatar), as well, and now I very rarely get to shoot my Beretta M9.
  6. Some people skin 'em and sell the hides. Personally, I think they make fantastic "organic" garden fertilizer.
  7. I've always heard close to the same thing: Any fool with a *wiener* can be a FATHER But it takes a man to be a DADDY Happy Father's day!
  8. I did 101. As per Tennessee regulations, these are the animals with year round season and no bag Armadillo Year Round No Limit Beaver Year Round No Limit Coyote Year Round No Limit English Sparrow Year Round No Limit Groundhog Year Round No Limit Nutria Year Round No Limit Pigeon Year Round No Limit Starling Year Round No Limit Striped Skunk Year Round No Limit
  9. Hunting101, back to something you mentioned: Coyotes. Most farmers with livestock are more than happy to have someone come out and let the air out of all the coyotes they can get in range. Something for Volphin to think about. Predator hunting is very challenging, and very addictive. The good thing about Coyotes is open season year round with no bag.
  10. Absolutely! There have been quite a few times that the only shots I have taken were with a Cannon (camera, of course ).
  11. gotta say it: NORM ! ! ! lol, I hope I'm not the only one that remembers that show.
  12. This link should help out a lot. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - For Hunters As far as where to hunt, you can ask your friends / family if they have any family / friends / aquaintances with land who don't mind letting a responsible hunter use it. If not, there are always the WMA's and draw hunts. Good luck!
  13. db, I can't answer for David, but I love mine (Also the black TiNi blade). The only thing is to make sure to clean it every so often if you carry it everyday, or use it a lot. The spring mechanism that opens the blade tends to get sluggish when it gets loaded up with crap out of your pocket.
  14. I recommend the SOG Flash II. Fantastic assisted open knife. Check out bestknives.com for some really good deals.
  15. Hey Joe, you going to have that lower in shop for showing off this weekend? Kahrman and I will be up there Saturday morning, and I wouldn't mind seeing the lower and the pack if you have 'em on hand.
  16. Nice! Being in Crossville helps a lot. I used to get the Catoosa draw hunts every now and then. Saw a lot of pigs in that area. *EDIT* I misread where you were from. lol
  17. Yep. Brand spanking new they sell for under $150. Great little guns, and accurate as all get out. My son and I still shoot mine regularly, and it seems to be his favorite out of all of 'em. He has a Mossberg 702 that he got for Christmas year before last, and loves it, but he still asks "Daddy, can I shoot your Marlin?"
  18. Ha, I thought I was special growing up! Seems to be a recurring theme of Model 60's and H&R single shot shotguns! Wonder if that's because they were super cheap "back in the day"? Whatever the reason, I was grateful for mine. I still am. And it seems they're going to turn out to be "heirlooms". Funny how such inexpensive guns end up being priceless, huh?
  19. Chemical Engineer, and yes, it IS as glamorous as it sounds. LOL!
  20. Absolutely. I've never had a problem with any aspect of the gun. It puts the "Hawgs" down like the Hammer of Thor, too! lol
  21. Here's my Hawg gun. Ruger .454 Super Redhawk.
  22. Well, Kevin, I am certainly not saying you are a communist. What I am saying is that while you sit on your throne and debate how the Constitution was written with enemy combatants in mind, there are people out there doing what needs to be done to make sure that the United States never suffers another attack that costs thousands of American lives. That's your opinion. Thankfully, not everyone shares your opinion, or we would likely be overridden with jihadists doing WHATEVER they could to destroy us, by any means necessary. Personally, I would rather have those same enemies who would destroy us, and take innocent lives, tortured 4 times a day - 8 on Sundays - than to have one single American die. If that makes me some kind of fascist in your eyes, well, I'm glad I'm not concerned with how you see me.
  23. That movie is badass. "I will find you, and I will kill you" "Good Luck" Just watched Gran Torino last night. Fantastic movie.
  24. Agreed. It's easy for some people to play this game when they've never seen the dirty side of it.
