  1. Big +1 on all of these (add a .308, as well) but especially the .25/06. I'm right down the road, Mouse. Let me know if you want to put a few rounds downrange with one.
  2. +1 on Fugates. I lived in Charleston (right across the river from Fugates) for a very long time, and have dealt with them a lot. Top notch people who live up to their word, and have been for quite some time, at least 14 years, that I'm aware of.
  3. "You know, I once got pulled over. They said I was goin too fast on my secret government giant turtle. I told them that I was fleeing a rabid chupacabra with an automatic weapon, and they fell slilent. I think that was when the gravity of the situation hit them. " That, my friend, is funny.
  4. Just to keep that in perspective, it's still better than work.
  5. Thank God we are not in Germany, and your saying does not hold true. Born a serf, stay a serf, huh? Welcome to America, land of opportunity, no matter how old you are.....
  6. Yep. Honestly, I'm stuck in the middle with a lot of it, simply because I am an engineer, but also management. I see both sides. I like being involved in projects that simply make processes more ergonomic, because we have happier employees with a better attitude, but I also like to see projects that earn my company money, because it earns me money in evals, bonuses, and looks good on a resume should I ever decide to leave.
  7. I understand completely that C level titles are concerned about the ROI of the projects, and I agree to some point. Six Sigma has become a buzzword, but the methodology is not about ROI, it's about making our processes more reliable, efficient, quality oriented, and customer-centric. The dollar amount of the above is what people on the outside latch on to.
  8. Six Sigma has it's detractors, just as ZD, TQM, and TPM, but all are valuable training tools in making your company more efficient and more quality oriented, which in turn makes your company more cost efficient. This doubly applies to smaller operations where the profit margins or EBITDA are much lower, and savings are vital to survival. It also makes you more marketable in job hunting. The average professional with a black belt cert earns approximately $20k per year more than a colleague with the same amount of experince and education otherwise.
  9. Welcome to the wonderful world of knowing you are always correct, with paperwork to prove it. All joking aside, my engineering degree + years of experience in the trenches excercising the knowledge that degree provided has opened a lot of doors to opportunities for me and my family. Good luck with grad school, but you've got the hardest part whipped. Definitely get your Green Belt cert, and work on the Black Belt. Hot commodities right now, and DMAIC philosophies should be ingrained in you pretty well at this point. I actually started on my Black Belt cert earlier this month, 32 class hours (and about 40 project hours) in to it at this point.
  10. I will say this: I do not normally watch TV aside from football. I just don't. Can't stand most sitcoms, dramas, comedies, etc.; but this has become a ritual. I have watched this from beginning to date. Can't not watch it. My wife thinks something slipped a gear upstairs, because out of all the shows on tv it's a zombie show. I went through the same thing with "Swamp People". The tv browsing has also lead to the most realistic SHTF scenario I have seen. Out of oil. Scarier than zombies, even, because you can't shoot "out of oil" in the head..
  11. lol, looking through the thread, we probably made it worse. 24 replies, 48 suggestions. Ahhh, diversity is the spice of life.
  12. I have a Bushmaster, Olympic Arms, and a Sabre upper on a Sun Devil lower. I recently traded for the Sabre / Sun Devil, and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I would recommend any of the three, but the Sabre specifically.
  13. I agree with Smith. The idea of marriage is a religious idea. I think the biggest reason marriage has such a bad rep now is because it IS viewed as a financial / legal arrangement. Much easier to walk away from an "investment" that's not performing to market standards vs a committment you have invested yourself in.
  14. +1 on the pepper. I prefer the peppercorn mix. Nothing like freshly ground pepper for steaks and burgers. I can't bring myself to use any kind of salt on my steaks.
  15. Rob, I really like Bushnell's Banner line of scopes for the price that you are talking about. You actually had o 3-9 Banner at one point on a .357 single rifle that you got from me. Reliable scopes that don't lose zero and pretty good clarity, especially for the price. You can pick up fixed power or variable power up to 4-12 for under that $150. I also like the Redfield scopes, as well. Also, if you want to shoot itty bitty animals at longer distances with that Ruger (dang fine rifle, by the way - Lemme know when you wanna sell) I would recommend the 9 or 12 power scopes.
  16. That thing is a monster!! I can't stop looking at it. deer / elk / moose hybrid, maybe?
  17. Glad to be home, finally. I agree that the right call was made, and am happy to not have flown directly into a tornado . Funny how we (I) get inconvenienced over something that could be life threatening. I guess that's the hustle & bustle of modern life. That, and the fact that I sorely missed my family.

    Iowa

Sooooo, I left last Thursday to visit a couple of customers in the Des Moines area. I spent a couple of days at different facilties in the area, and hung out with different folks from these companies over the weekend. All in all, a pleasent visit with very nice fall weather. Until today. I've been sitting at DMS International (Des Moines, Iowa) since 9:30am central time because of flights being cancelled and delayed to Atlanta. From Atlanta I have to: A.) Catch another flight to Chattanooga (originally scheduled for 2pm) Or B.) Rent a car and drive home, depending on the availability of A. At least there is some hope. We have a flight into Atlanta scheduled to depart here at 10pm, though it's still a 2 hour flight. Hopefully all goes well from here on out. Anyone else stuck because of "Inclement weather / high winds"?
  19. 243 does not offer an exceptional performance upgrade over a 22-250 with similar weight bullets, actually, very similar, and cheaper to reload from the powder charge perspective. More "Bang for your buck" out of the .22-250 than .243 with light bullets. .243, however, does offer the option of larger bullets for medium game. http://www.hornady.com/images/ballistics/ballistics_charts.pdf Rob, as far as your question, a .22-250 is the King of the 22 cal cartridges.
  20. So, even if it's legal for a passenger to have a drink, that would be reasonable suspicion to pull over a car? Even if the car is not swerving, erratic, etc.??
  21. Obviously in Nashville.
  22. Believe it or not, no tin foil hat for me. So, having a drink as a passenger in a limo is different than having a drink as a passenger in a car? I am not defending drinking and driving. I am, however, defending drinking and riding, and our ability to do so without government oversight.
  23. And that is your opinion. Just because that is your opinion, that does not mean we need the government lording over us. We have gracious plenty of that as it is. Personally, i do not see a problem with a non-driver having a drink.
  24. lol, I grew up on a dairy farm. We got our milk unpastuerized, and we got it YOUNG. I was actually started on goats milk, also straight from the boob, because of a sensitive stomach. Must have worked, cuz it's cast iron now.
  25. I have also noticed a disproportionate number of folks with drinks in their hands (me included)
