  1. i would recommend buying a whole gun from a reputable manufacturer. Then build one if you want another. You will at least have one rifle that works correctly.
  2. Going to see it tomorrow with some friends.
  3. It certainly changes your perspective on things. Mike
  4. New knife for me made by my friend Jeremy Horton. 4" blade with a convex grind. Carbon fiber scales.
  5. Look at getting it Hard Chromed or Nickle Boron treated if you want it shiny. It will help keep your bolt and carrier from corroding and still be shiny.
  6. Have you been to a class there? No? Glad you can comment on this with an educated view point... In all the classes I have taken out there; and I have taken most of their curriculum. There has never, EVER, been any sort of cavalier attitude towards safety. If you don't feel comfortable doing something you are never forced to do it. You are treated like an adult and are expected to handle yourself as one. If the gun you trust your life to will not take a 3-4' fall to the ground without damage you need to reconsider your options. Mike
  7. It's hard to conceal when you bend down. It makes a "whale tail" with your shirt and immediately announces to everyone that you have a gun. Couple that with slow draw times and invariably muzzling yourself on the draw... Not for me.

    dry fire

Look at the firing pin and the face of the chamber. If either is deformed, get another rifle. Mike
  9. Nice review! It's more than worth it. Jay's a funny dude. It takes a little while to get to know him. He's one of the most modest men I've ever met in my life. Once you get to know him, It's amazing some of the things he has been through and seen in this world. He is a wealth of knowledge. It's a different atmosphere there. It's not for everyone. Mike
  10. Why are you polishing the phosphate off the bolt and carrier?
  11. Lower operating pressures theoretical providing less wear and tear on moving parts. I like mid length gas systems as they recoil a little less and when using a suppressor have a little less blow back.

    wasr 10/63

Wasr's are fine rifles. Just be sure to check the head spacing. Buy or borrow a go no-go set and test it before you buy. Canted front sights are an easy fix.
  13. Tom Givens runs a top notch class at range master. Highly recommended.

    S&W help

1481 is likely just a control number from the manufacturing process where they kept the frame, cylinder, and crane together for machining. Pictures would help. If all else fails call smith and give them the serial number.
  15. We had a good discussion on 3 points a while back here.
  16. Any particular reason you want a 3 point? The ones I've used have done a fantastic job of being in the way, tangling up in armor, and strangling the user. Mike
  17. What did it start out as?
  18. What kind of round counts, and how hard were they run? I only ask due to the fact thtat I've seen more than a few of thier rilfes go down hard due to improperly cut chambers and out of spec parts. My advice is to save your money and buy a good known quantity rifle. Mike
  19. There are more than a few good options in the 800-1200 range. DPMS is not one of them. Colt, BCM, Daniel Defense, and LMT are a few.
  20. Save your money. Buy a decent rifle. Walmart sells Colt now; get a 6920.
  21. Does the mag wobble affect feeding? If not then don't worry about it. Yes the threads are designed to be loose fitting on the muzzle. Mike
  22. It's not difficult at all to load the belts by hand. They made a belt loader that works very good. it can crank out a 100 rd belt in the same time it takes to load a 30 rd mag by hand.
  23. Awesome machine gun. The lightest GPMG produced in the world. Weighs in at 23lbs with a full 100 round box on it. Fires from the open bolt at roughly 650 rpm. The only thing I don't like about this gun is the ejection of spent casings. The casings eject from the port with enough force to break the skin. As this particular gun feeds from the right and spits everyhting out the left it puts your arm(on a right handed shooter) in the path of ejection. Long sleves are recommended.
  24. I'll add this, the pistol did NOT fail to function. It was simply dirty with foriegn matter inside the pistol. If pocket lint will stop your gun from working, I would search for a new pistol.
  25. Yes, the mag tube is strong enough. To do it arounfd the wrist just make the loop bigger.
