First cleaning of brand-new Glocks
Mike replied to perstare's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Does it really matter? -
Seemed like a good show. Better than the last 5 or 6 by far. Hot as hell though.

My granddad gave me this rifle this past Christmas. It's an Inland parts gun that he built. He built one for myself, my brother, and my Dad. Mine had no rear sight on it when he gave it to me. He said that he had a rear sight and had also had some scope mounts for it. He wanted to see what I wanted before he put anything on it. I said I'd like to check out a scope mount because I already have several M1's and it would be neat to have one that was a little different. I figured he had one of the cheap Chinese made mounts that replaces the rear sight and would flop around. At most i would mount a red dot on it and keep fiddling with it to make sure it didn't fall off. We went to his shop and started digging around to find the mount and he pulls out the Chinese made mount and says, "oh I also have this one too if you want but it's kind of a weird mount. It was one of the original mounts for the second generation night vision scope the military used in late Korea and early Vietnam. I looked at it and it uses redfield style rings. A twist in front ring and a side clamped rear ring. A trip to the shop and I had my rings. I had to carve a relief in the stock to get the front barrel clamp to fit in and had to drill a hole and carve a relief in the top handguard to let the post through. I was looking at scopes and I had my heart set on a Weaver K series, fixed 2.5 power scope. Something small, extremely simple, light weight, and it seemed to fit the period. But it was out of production. All the ones I saw online were in the 200-250 range. I could get a brand new 2.5 fixed power Leupold for that. Alas I went to the gunshow yesterday and there on one of the tables was a pile of older scopes. Weavers, redfields, k series, s series, 2.5 and 4 power fixed, adjustable, post and line, duplex reticles... Choices abound! Found a nice looking Weaver K 2.5 asking 125 for it. After some negotiation it was mine for $70. Mounted my scope and wrapped the stock with paracord to bring my cheek up some. Here she is today.

Got ahold of them. Was basically told I was SOL. Lifetime warranty meant dick because I'm not LEO. **** them and their knife.

-Mike I was specifically referring to people buying guns utilizing this website that are not legally able to purchase though traditional dealer/bgc methods. Can you cite those or are you just running down your list of topics? -Mike Still no rebuttal...

Had to pick this one out. Could you cite an example?

There is some language in some of these, so if you're sensitive I'd recommend you grow a thicker skin and click anyways. "It's like twitter. Except we charge people to use it." http://www.27bslash6.com/slyseb.html http://www.27bslash6.com/overdue.html -Mike

Thats stippling and a reshaped grip. Not skateboarded tape.

Also remember that hearing damage is cumulative. It can go little by little over time. Protect it.

Who carries a full size 1911......
Mike replied to Parrothead's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I carry a full size 1911 from time to time. Comp-tac mtac and a comp-tac gun belt. No problems. I am much fonder of my m&p in a raven holster though... -
You can buy a lot of grease for 660 bucks. Bird is the word for the thread resurrector.

I rock streamlight every chance I get. I have a strion for both my home and one for my truck. I daily carry a pt 2aa or if the attire calls for it a microstream. Tlr1's on the pistol IMO streamlight is all the quality if not better than surefire without the exorbiant price tag they affix to anything with their name on it. Mike

The blade is stuck fast I can't pull it or push it. It will not move a bit.

It has stopped going in and out and the blade is jammed with about 3/4" sticking out.

A Newbie and his Newbie wife first outing looking at fire arms experience
Mike replied to RobertY's topic in General Chat
I find it quite easy. But that's not what we're after. From all the ones I've sold at the shop most women even those with fragile wrists could rack it easily with some practice and the correct technique. That said, it is a semi auto and should be carried with one in the chamber. So if the shtf with your wife she shouldn't have to worry about racking the slide before handling business. She should be able to simply draw and fire. Mike -
I have a busted ultratech and i can't get anyone to pick up the phone. Mike

You could look at the ruger lcp. It is a small semi auto pistol with manageable recoil that won't break the bank. Around $350. It is a .380 which is just a 9mm short. Plenty capable of inflicting a stop shot at conflict distance. Mike -
That .338 cartridge looks a lot like the .300 whisper.

Lmt sopmod. A carbine stock on a 20" rifle is going to be front heavy like a mofo. I've seen it done and it wasn't very comfortable to me. If you are wanting adjustability with the longer barrel I would look into the magpul ubr. It has enough weight to balance out a longer front heavy rifle. Mike

Evrything looks great. Is there any way to get the top button put back onto the bottom of each post? I use the heck out of it .

Cool must have been a special run of them. I wouldn't mind having some that were bright orange or yellow for training. Less likely to lose and easy to identify. Guess there's the krylon touch.

No it's very fast but not so strong as to want t flip the knife backwards out of your hand. My AFOII isn't that way either. Very nice spring tension. Just enough to be extremely fast, but not too much where you could drop it..
