  1. It was a 586 L-Frame. I will say with the exception of my loading a clip wrong. The moon clips are phenomenal. I was loading them on the line while listening to Tom talk so my attention wasn't 100% on loading the clips. They sped up my reloads well beyond everyone else. There really is nothing that compares to them. They completely eliminate getting a case stuck behind the extractor or in-between the cylinder and grips, as they bring all six rounds in and out as a unit. I would recommend them to anyone who carries a revolver and speed loaders. They take up less space than the loaders and don't require fiddling with knobs or buttons. Slowstrips will still carry better but have loading times that are ridiculous and usually end up with dropped rounds and a lot of fumbling. I agree with your last post, SS. Truth If you guys look at the big time revolver guys who actually fought with them a lot. Prohibition and depression era 1920-1940. They carried revolvers. RevolverS. They didn't bother to reload. It took too much time when they were getting shot at. They fought through their weapons. Shoot till empty and toss the gun then draw another. What to you call a guy carrying a j-frame and a speedstrip? An optimist.
  2. Angling them down and adding a swing limiter is great idea. Inhad to do this with mine after I caught a 308 ricochet to the ribs a while back. Cool stuff. Be prepared to replace some hardware. I had some friends out and got my target stands all shot up. I still havent got everything welded back together.
  3. It appears that I struck a nerve. I never said the revolver was inferior. I said less than ideal. These comments with the exception of the ammunition sensitivity, which I did experience with several types of ammunition, were my own conclusion after firing about 450-500 rounds in the course of a day.. True, you might never have an issue with ammo, provided you vetted yours before an incident. I only brought it up because most people don't vet their ammo. Most simply buy what the guy at the counter gives them and put it into service. So it is an issue, one that is easily avoidable, but an issue none the less. Reliability, I had my revolver lock up twice. Once when I has a high primer and once when i had the moon clip clipped around the base of the cartridge slightly above the groove. Both were operator error. But, operator error can happen in a shtf situation too. As far as malfunctions, semi's are a lot easier to fix than revolvers. they often only require a tap rack to clear and get back in the fight. Revolvers require both time and often tools to fix. both are not going to be on your side in a fight. Bullet jump does happen, even in factory loaded ammo. It just takes one round to lock the cylinder into the frame. You cannot even open the cylinder to clear the jam. you have to hammer the bullet back into the case to release the cylinder. As far as reloads go, they are slow. 2-3 seconds in a fight is an eternity. It won't happen. So don't count on it. Capacity.. Why would you need more than 5 or 6 rounds? Um, more than one bad guy? It is occurring more and more frequently. 2-3 guys jumping people, killing them for what is in their pockets. Why take a chance on hoping it will only be one person? Fine motor skills. Yes, everything you do with a revolver is using fine motor skills. From the 1/2" trigger pull to manipulating the cylinder release, dumping empties and reloading it is all fine motor controls believe it or not. Sorry you feel that way. That is good, you have prevented most problems from coming up at a bad time. Revolvers are not ineffective. they will take care of a problem, but they do not fit every situation. I would highly recommend you guys check out a course, it doesn't have to be Tom's. Any trigger time is better than nothing. The more you get to manipulate and shoot the more you will be prepared. 25 years of shooting is great, but just remember, there are always new ideas and techniques. Skills do fade over time. Practice often. Respectfully, Mike
  4. Ammunition sensitive was only in regards to point of aim point of impact. To illustrate this he was having us shoot several different loads out of our pistols. Some were spot on. Some were off of point of aim by 4-6". Unreliable in the sense that everything inside the revolver is timed like a Swiss watch. One little thing goes wrong and the system fails. Also when loading, if there is a round with a high primer or bent rim it will Jam the cylinder. They are also very susceptible to bullet jump. When extracting if a grain of sand or unburnt powder gets under the extractor it will also keep the cylinder from closing. Mike
  5. I would only carry one as a backup. After the Tom Givens revolver class, It is apparent that revolvers are not an ideal fighting weapon. They are ammunition sensitive(POA/POI), not reliable, low capacity, slow to reload, difficult to shoot, and all of their functions require fine motor skills to use. I still carry a j-frame, but it is only a backup gun. -Mike
  6. Where is the range at? I was looking over the site but i didn't see that information. I'm going to try my best to be out there on time. Mike
  7. My war with the mole in my front yard. I've been after this guy for a few weeks now. I've tried traps, bait, poison. Nothing has worked so far. Today, I came back from shooting my M1A in the back and I saw him pushing a pile of dirt up in the lawn. I ran over and shot three rounds in the middle of the dirt pile. I didn't see him in the tunnel so I went and grabbed the gas can and poured a bit down his hole and dropped a match in. Hopefully he is down there shot and asphyxiated. We'll see if more dirt piles come up in the lawn. -Mike
  8. Wow! Been there. It sucks. I'm sure they told you this but alternating heat and ice will get the swelling down and get the fluid moving out of her eye. It helped immensely with mine. A sock filled with dry rice put in the microwave is an awesome and cheap heat pad. They aren't foreseeing any vision problems are they? Mike

    New Tron movie.

Didn't realize that was on there. Must have been a mistap in the iPad.
  10. TRON Legacy Set to come out this December. Looks cool. I liked the original. The vfx look pretty cool. Hopefully the story will pan out and not suck. Jeff bridges looks older than dirt though. Mike
  11. I just used the link for the book. Www.jlbourne.com is the authors website. He is a service member as well iirc.
  12. Day by Day: Armageddon And Day by Day: Beyond Exile By JL Bourne Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne - Reviews, Discussion, Bookclubs, Lists Official Day by Day Armageddon Forum • Index page Fantastic reads. Should be another one coming out eventually. Well written and very captivating. It's an interesting perspective about bugginout under some weird circumstances. I highly recommend them. Mike
  13. You should be able to go to any gunshop and pick up some chamber flags for little to nothing. Mike
  14. Cool, I'll try to be there.
  15. I had mine done a little over a year ago I was 20/450 in my left eye and 20/500 in the right. Now I'm 20/20 in my right and 20/30 in my left. Best money I've ever spent.

  18. Coming close to Nashville any time in the near future? Can you ship a cat USPS? -Mike
  19. I wish you were closer. I could use another farm cat. My current model is getting old and lazy.
  20. Post a picture of your magwell and one with a magazine in it. Several angles. -Mike
  21. I disagree, you are talking about a mistake. Someone miscounting. The situation with the gentleman had him understanding the exact price he would receive for his goods he was trading. Also, at a gun shop you will never, ever, get what your stuff is worth. they are not in the business of buying at retail prices to sell... at retail prices. They buy at wholesale and sell at retail. Buy low... Sell high. As far as your last line. Good for you. One of the beautiful things about this country is our system of (mostly) free economics. You are not required to shop there. They are not required to sell you anything. They are not required to buy anything from you. Mike
  22. That is completely different. It's not like they gave him less money than they had agreed upon. This is a two sided issue. Both parties have to be in agreement for this deal to go through. They didn't do anything without his consent and approval.
  23. Some people just don't know how to negotiate anything either. Or are afraid that by asking for a lower price they will offend someone. I don't understand it, but i've run across that several times.

    S&W M&P9

I can speak of the DCAEK kit. It is the way to go. It keeps your poundage around 5.5 but it is a very very smooth pull with no overtravel and a fantastically short and sharp reset. I highly recommend the kit. If you complain about the s&w "mushy" trigger(I didn't think it was that bad myself) try this kit. Randy at Apex is an awesome guy to deal with. Mike
