    My rifle.

Not quite battle tested, but close. Mike
  6. I like the saiga forends. More stuff to grab hold of out there that won't leave scars if the rifle is hot. I'm preferential to the Warsaw length. I'm a bigger guy myself, 6'2" with a 6'4" span. It personal preference I guess. I like getting up on the rifle quite a bit. Mike
  7. I'd stay away from it. Not only does it not have a chrome lined barrel, it has a nato length stock, and more importantly, they don't list who built it. Spend a few more dollars on a known quantity rifle from a reputable builder. Mike

Every .22 is picky about ammo. It's just inherent to the caliber. Mike

    My rifle.

UPDATED 2-1-12 - POST #12 It's a Saiga SGL31-94, 5.45x39. I've done most of my training with it. It has been dropped, thrown, stepped on, used as a hammer, and run ragged; it still keeps on going. I've made some modifications, I have a surefire scout light, krebs extended safety lever, ultimak rail and an aimpoint micro. I removed the rear sling swivel and put a piece of paracord in it's place. I run a single point sling with this rifle and it has worked very well utilizing the simple piece of paracord. Thought I would share it with you guys. Mike

    Blasphemy?

Caster, if i remember correctly the Enfields that saw service in India were painted black. I'd do some research before I stripped it. Mike
  12. Cross draw IWB is going to be difficult with a 19. Mike
  13. Not a cross draw, but appendix carry works well for seated positions, concealment, retention and speed. It's difficult if you are heavy, and you can't tuck a shirt with it, but those are the only two downsideds I've heard and experienced. M&P full size in a desebiens #4 AIWB. Concealed Mike

Wait no longer. Take that junk off your AK!!! I feel sad that your rifle got raped by the tapco catalog... The most efficient and effective red dot and mount anyone has come up with to date; Aimpoint Micro on an Ultimak Rail. It even cowitnesses with your iron sights. Mike
  17. Yes, Bulgarians and Russians both come with cold hammer forged chrome lined barrels. Mike

    Revolver to Auto

I thought about what i was going to say last night. I wasn't going to say anything, but this kind of got me riled up a little. I've had over 200 hours of training this year alone; not counting competitions or training group time. So you can take that "You don't know anything because your young." crap and go pound sand. Same goes for the rest of you. Judge a man by the content of his character, not by the number under his name. I'm out. Mike
  20. The 5.45 is inherently more accurate than the 7.62. It also has substantially less recoil than the 7.62. this has benefits outside of full auto fire allowing faster followup shots and generally a much more enjoyable time shooting. It also is quite lethal; the bullets tumble violently when hitting soft tissue. Mike
  21. It means they converted it from a sporter type to standard type with a pistol grip, trigger relocation, and all the required US parts count. From this: To this: Mike

    Revolver to Auto

I do not varnish my opinion. What was said holds true, I dislike carrying a revolver for personal protection uses if other more viable options are available to me. I never said I hated revolvers. I said they suck, then clarified that they suck as a fighting weapon. Some have apparently formed the opinion that I have undying hatred for revolvers, that is not true. I love them, I love the design, craftsmanship and appearance. I must really dislike them to have so few in my collection. To the matter at hand; if you do not like what I have to say, by all means counter it. I speak the truth as I see it from my experiences. No, I have not been involved in a gunfight but I have trained extensively and can honestly say that given the choice I would much rather have a semi auto than a revolver at hand. Ive said my piece. Mike
  23. Sherman and I will be there. Are you shooting, Bresson?

    Revolver to Auto

The difference between a revolver malfunction and a semi auto malfunction is that you can clear the semi auto and return to the business at hand. When revolvers jam they usually require tools to fix. Mike
