If the post-86 ban were repealed....
Ray Z replied to quietmike's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Oh yeaah! She was always great at chopping down trees and making a mess out of a building. -
Had a friend that had your problem. He called an exterminator. The dude came after dark, climbed a step ladder, and slid a plastic bag over the whole nest, cut it off and took it away. Norm called him back 3 times because the hornets rebuilt the nest on the same limb twice. The third call back was because they gave up on the limb and made their nest in the ground just under that limb. He sprayed the heck out of the ground and the problem ended. Short story. Thought it might make your day a little easier.

I met a machinist mate on board ship that had more time on his hands than he could stand. He would reload 22"s from the equipment he made. He started with a piece that he drove down in the case to remove the indent made from firing the cartridge the first time. After resizing he had something he spun the case with as he put a drop of priming mixture in the case. This forced it into the rim. The rest was as we would do while loading center fire cartridges. It was slicker than a minnows "you know what". But it filled his off time. The one thing that I remember well was that he used Bullseye powder. I remember that because that was what I was using at the time for 38sp.

Greg is as peaceful a person as I am. He has seen pictures of bullet wounds and knows how disruptive a bullet can be. I am just just curious or what would have been the repercussions if this had played out.

My youngest son [35] just called me to thank me again for giving him a concealed carry class for his birthday. He told me that he was driving through Gatlinburg when a guy in a motorized wheelchair came flying across the street, against the light, right in front of him. Greg was just able to stop with this guy inches away from his front bumper. With this the guy yells "You need to how to f&%" drive. Greg rolls the window down and told him "He needs to learn what color to use to cross the street". With this the guy reaches over his shoulder and grabs a ball bat out of his backpack and starts coming around Greg's car to the drivers side while swinging the bat in the air. With this Greg yells " I am armed". With that the guy in the wheelchair went his way. I realize that if he had to have shot this guy he would have had "pardon the pun" one strike against him in court. Even though this guy had a ball bat and Greg had a gun could Greg have repelled deadly force?

Don't mean to be this behind the times but what did happen to that little 9mm Remington put out for a real short while? I know they were having problems with the rear sight but didn't hear any more about it.

'ya all need to start shooting practical pistol. You will get to shoot at varying distances under varying conditions. The only way you're going to get better at shooting is to shoot. You are welcome to shoot with us on the 3ed Saturday of the month at ORSA in Oak Ridge, TN

Had my CCW in Ohio before we moved here 5 years ago. Had no problems transferring it when we moved. In Ohio little old ladies would suck up all the air in the grocery store if they saw the butt of a handgun sticking out of your pants. Here they want to see what you are carrying. I carry my shield IWB with my tee shirt shirttail out or my LCP in a holster that prints like a wallet in my back pocket.

'70 and '71 station wagons. Neither had the problem you described.

Vontar, glad you're OK. But just for giggles, who ends up footing the bill for the damage?

Never met a dealer I likes at a gun show. They want to give you half what the gun is worth so they can make 4 times the profit.

Ahhh, good 'ol Cincinnati. Armpit of the midwest

Start with loading a pistol caliper. Bottleneck cases have a few more bumps to get over. Like trimming and making sure no berdan cases get in the batch. Don't know if you already bought a tumbler yet but Harbor Freight has both of their vibrator tumblers on sale.

+1 On the Rockchucker Kit. It's a tool that you will use for the rest of your life. Even after you have gone to the dark side with the progressive presses you will be going back to your Rockchucker for stuff you need more leverage and less production for. I don't like Lee. A lot of soft aluminum in them.

I know that this is [by our standards] an old post but, if someone was to win an auction of this kind could he clean up the brass and sell it at gun shows?
-
The vendors that sell at the shows are either master dealers or should be. They make more on a gun sale than most gun stores. Unless we're talking about Benton's. Those folks have a huge inventory but they love what they've got. Prices are usually at or above retail. If the dealers at the shows were willing to cut their prices, they could sell a lot more stock and will make up for the difference in price.

I remember overhearing two dealers at a Knoxville show talking about the meeting all the dealers had to attend before the show. I didn't get it all but they were talking about price fixing. I remember going to the shows when we lived in Ohio. The dealers only made $35-50 on a sale. But they always had 2-3 customers filling out federal form to be called in. So they were making money on volume. Not trying to put one of their kids through school on one sale.

My feelings exactly. Safety is every shooters responsibility. Several times I have brought to someone's attention that they were using the range in a manor that was inappropriate. You don't have to be rude or forceful. Just a reminder is all it takes.

I smell a government generated rat. Packaging costs money. The cost of a pound of powder has gone nuts with everything else gun related " thank you very much Obama". I think by promoting a smaller size we are promoting a future limitation on what we can buy in the future.

Dillon has toys for every occasion.

How many brass to a pound of 45's/9mm?
-
I'll take 100-200 pounds.
-
Thanks Major Kong but that's way, way out of my price range. I've still got a Bersa Firestorm that I'm looking to turn loose of for $250. But that still doesn't get me near the $3200 range.

Thanks for the info Ishel. The S&W has a flash hider that's also a comp. If I go with the Ruger, that's one thing I know I'll have to change.

I sold a couple of safe queens and now I'm in the market for an AR in 308. I got a look at the S&W at the last gun show and it looks good. Looked at the SR 762 on Ruger's site. Both look good. Which one would you get and why?
