I keep mine in the jugs it came in, stacked in the closet. When it gets hot, the jugs melt, the powder will just burn slow. I think you are right, making a bomb in the ammo can.

I got out on my range and did a little shooting, single bag under the forarm just in front of the mag door. 75 yards, factory ammo, 140 gran core-lokt "managed recoil" round. Scope is a 9-25x50, picked up from a member here The tag is 2"x3", the hole in red is a sight round, the yellow in a bounce back off my back stop. Not realy, 223, and up will go through a 1/4" steel plate, I would bet smaller hot rounds would go into a one.
